The Ramp Truck Gets a Blower! Burnouts for Days! Finnegan's Garage Ep.107

  • It all began with a burnout and a dangling taillight. Back in Episode 95 we tried to do burnouts in a recent acquisition, this 1969 Chevy C50 ramp truck. It didn't go well. The truck ran horribly and wouldn't spin even one of the back tires unless we drove backwards at 10 mph and then slammed the Turbo 400 transmission into Reverse! While we don't recommend this sort of behavior, it was effective; the Ramp Truck smoked one rear tire right down to the cords. While awesome, it wasn't inspiring performance. We needed more power and we needed to fix that busted taillight. What was our solution? Installing a Weiand 6-71 blower and dual Holley 750cfm "double pumper" carbs atop the 454!
    Is our engine built for boost? Nope. Are our brakes, suspension or chassis up to the task of harnessing the newfound power? No way! We did it anyway and now thanks to a lot of hours in the garage and some custom fabrication and wiring we now have a reliable, functional and badass looking hot rod hauler that smokes tires with ease.
    In this video not only will you see how we fit the massive supercharger under the stub nose hood of Chevy's medium-duty truck, but we'll also give you tips on fabricating, ignition systems, and how to get your nasty chassis clean with a brand-new product from CRC Industries.

    My favorite burnout was when I was a kid my father and I took his dump truck up to the dealership to get a diesel. The dump we were in was a Ford with I believe was a 460 4spd the tach went to 4 grand I'm like dad see if you can get the dual wheels to spin. They spun so Efn hard he brought it to redline come off the clutch the truck did NOT move the ass end started to drift sideways and quickly smoked the street out. I've had some badass cars since then but my best memory was me and the old man burning the dual wheels it always makes me smile thinking bout that day...

    • @meins1043
      @meins1043 3 년 전

      @themetal We have the TÜV or DEKRA that your car has to go to every to years and if you have changed even small things like mufflers or other tire sizes you have to get an aproval on that . Wheels must have a ABE formular from the manufacturer in witch is documentet that the wheel is safe for road use. For this they had to destroy one in a test to see if the stress limit and strengh is high enough. The ABE number is stamped into the wheel for identifikation. In Germany it is much more difficult to build or tune a car because evrything has to be aproved and special things get additionally printed in the vehicle registration that has to be in your car at every time for say "police inspection". This is amongst other things because if your car can run 350 miles per hour, you can do this on the Autobahn and that could be extremely dangerous if your car is not build the right way to handle it.

      I’m tired of seeing these comments. It’s because it shows up on people’s recommendations and all they have to do is hit the three dots and click not interested. Then KRplus automatically dislikes the videos so it doesn’t recommend things like this.

    • @aserta
      @aserta 3 년 전 +3

      Ignore all other comments, it's because the mobile interface of the KRplus video has the like and dlslike buttons very close. Most of the dislikes you see are because of that reason. It also happens on the PC variant with a missed click. Who would ever think that it would be so difficult for a multibillion dollar company's devs to ... you know, move the buttons at opposite sides of the screen. You know, like paddle shifters.
      Again, any other explanation you get is incorrect, this is the right answer. I'm sure you've clicked like once or twice and missclicked it to dislike, sometimes you know, sometimes you don't even know.

    • @aserta
      @aserta 3 년 전 +3

      @@frankyalvarez7160 Incorrect. There's absolutely no reason for any app to work in that fashion, especially with a user choice. The reason is that on mobile interfaces, the buttons for like and dislike are too close. Fat thumbs don't like that kind of mingling.

    The CRC stuff is AMAZING.
    It makes Gunk look like water.
    And the EPA follows you home when you buy it!
    Side note: I use Nickle Copper brake lines on EVERYTHING. Super easy to install, no rust ever!

    Finn, when you were at the dead end street ready to peel when you backed up filming it was a PERFECT view of the truck. No stuff I’m serious with front bumper off the stance it’s an awesome looking truck for real Forget the burnouts it should be in a magazine it looked so good. HIGH FIVE ✋
    TIPS HIS CAP 🧢 !! BAD ASS TRUCK.
    Now, I might maybe be a little bias because my absolute favorite truck is a 1967 S WHEEL BASE PICK-UP Same as Chip Foose. Not because of Chip, because they just are.
    I had one b-4 a divorce in 1992 got it at a yard sale in 90 no title no engine or transmission It was an okey doke Oklahoma truck with NO RUST. I was in the middle of restoring it and BAM !!!!!! Judge gave me that truck and the ex my 1986 Conversion Van. Wood work was done by Mennonites excellent wood work those okey doke guys did. I was so proud of that van.. but I wanted the kids to have it be comfortable etc. However I had to find a motor real quick to get to work.. anyhoo that’s that story.
    LMAO 😜
    BUT YOUR C-50 is an awesome truck…
    Don’t sell it ever. The moron in the White House won’t live to much longer. And fossil fuel will be back in service and we can race as usual… THE BLASHEMI B READY TO ROCK
