I always love your recommendations and have whole lists put together from your videos that I hope to watch. From this video, I've added Hostage, Super Dark Times, Project Power, Spot Caller, American Assassin, and I've put The Guest off for far too long.

I tend to think of Ninja Assassin as kind of a Ninja horror movie. I'm excited to have time to sit down and watch Polar. I love Mads Mikkelson.

The Impossible is fantastic, The Guest is so good, Midnight Special is really, really good, The Town never got the love it deserved (look for the director's cut if you can), Polar is great fun; great list Darren!

I LOVED The Guest! It really felt like an 80s drive-in movie. As soon as I have a chance, I plan on checking out Uncut Gems.

I saw The Town in the theater and yes I can vouch for Darren, it's underrated and this is coming from someone who normally doesn't really go for heist movies. I have actually watched most of these movies (some at your recommendation) and you are spot on. Polar and uncut gems stand out the most for me. Uncut gems was definitely unexpected. it played out and felt much different than it was marketed for me.

I like how you highlight Polar as BA #2, then mention #1 as toward the end..(keep me watching, creative segway).

Gotta thank you for your recommendations for The Guest and The Outpost. Saw the former a couple of months ago and it was so fun and being a fan of Dan Stevens's work in Legion made me enjoy it that much more that I am also recommending the film to others and last night saw the latter and was blown away by that film. Really respectful, impactful, and the last 45 minutes and the end credits were extremely well done and recommend it too. Keep up the great work!

I haven’t seen 4 of them and based on this list I will definitely be checking out, The Night Comes for Us, The Guest, Toro, and Super Dark Times.
Having said that....a few more things about some of these films:
• Polar - If you love the John Wick franchise you will love Polar. Mads Mikkelsen is a seriously underappreciated actor, the movies he chooses and the roles he plays have been good in almost every single movie I've seen him in! As well as Hannibal Lecter on the show Hannibal.
• The Impossible - this movie blew me away when I first saw it it was very gut wrenching and emotional, and really what stood out to me was the performance of a young Tom Holland. I was not surprised to see him picked for Spiderman and to see some of the movies he's been in recently and the roles he's played including The Devil All the Time on Netflix. With the Uncharted movie and Chaos Walking coming out, Tom Holland is on the verge of being one of the biggest stars in the country.
• The Outpost - I couldn't agree more with this pic as this movie was good enough to been released in any theater and in my opinion, was almost as good as the Hurt Locker in the way it makes you feel the reality of war. I highly recommend it and the performances are great including Clint Eastwood’s son Scott Eastwood. Could this be his ticket to being a big star like his dad we will see!
• Midnight special - definitely the 2nd best acted movie on this list (uncut gems is 1st) Michael Shannon is great. I compare this movie to the movie star man, just taken to the next level!
• Uncut Gems - What a great film. Adam Sandler is amazing in this movie in going along the ride for this character's decline to his inevitable ending is awesome. Lakeith Stanfield is awesome as well as Eric Bogosian, and surprisingly enough Kevin Garnett Is not that bad as an actor!

So glad you finally recommended Hardcore Henry... I own 1000s of films, mostly horror/thriller, and it's been one of my favourite films for several years. So original and Sharlto Copley became one of my favourite actors whilst watching it.

I've seen 12 of the 20, and found 3 of the remaining 8 as possibilities-for-viewing, on interest sake ...

Polar was amazing. i have seen all of these movies, they are all great. Ninja Assassin is a great film.

There are great recommendations here. I’ve watched about half of them and recommend these recommendations.

Here's one, Double World. It a fantasy martial arts movie described as "teen", don't let that fool you. Some great action, beautiful shots and brutal murders.

Shot Caller is so gritty and raw. That final showdown scene between him and the Beast is awesome!

Former digital artist/3D geek, here. "Beowolf" rocks. I think this would be watershed moment when digital mocap and high-end, photorealistic rendering came together beautifully. I've seen it a few times. Good flick/Well done! Great recommendation!

The hallway scene in Polar is almost as good as the hallway scene in Oldboy.

House of the devil is good. It’s got an 80’s feel & soundtrack.

Ben Foster is one of the most underrated American movie actors in my opinion. He consistently elevates the movies he is in.

The Invitation is a pretty solid flick. Give it a watch.

One I think should be on here is "Spectral". One of Netflix's earlier original films. Epic war/ pseudo sci-fi film that just blew me away. Made really well with quite a few well known actors on board. I've watched it several times and enjoy it every time.
