He definitely pushes the creative boundaries on his music videos a lot more than the average kpop mv, especially considering the difference in budget.

That's his Youth Olympics tattoo. He participated in the 2010 Youth Olympics.
He was also getting ready for the 2012 London Olympics and had scholarships from Stanford University and the University of Hong Kong but gave it all up for music.

This mv is especially impressive bc Jackson wrote the script and directed it! I really love the concept he went for with this mv and I appreciate how he always weaves elements of his culture and upbringing into his art.
Also yup that's an Olympics tattoo! He has a Youth Olympics tattoo bc he was on track to becoming an olympic fencer before he became an idol ~

Jackson was born in Hong Kong and studied in American International School. He is fluent in English, Korean and other languages. He was a sabre fencer for Hong Kong's fencing team and was ranked eleventh in the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics and won first place at the Asian Junior and Cadet Fencing Championships in 2011. After passing a music audition, he moved to Seoul, South Korea in July 2011 to pursue a career in K-pop, he is one of the member of Got7. This young man has many talents he can sing, rap, dance, he can director, produce, compose song and choreograph all his own videos. He is so versatile and a super talented young man!

Jackson has a tattoo of the Singapore 2010 Summer Youth Olympics logo in which he participated! He ranked 11th if I remember correctly. He was training for London 2012 and actually got a scholarship to Stanford for fencing but he left everything when he was accepted into JYP!

If you're interested in the choreo it's done by the Kinjaz a cali based dance group. They've done a couple other projects with Jackson I believe as well.

In the Mood For Love is an amazing film, and I also saw the same vibe from Pretty Please. I love the Hong Kong aesthetic Jackson uses, and I really hope he keeps using these classic themes, whether it's a historical Chinese theme like 100 Ways or the Hong Kong film aesthetic in Pretty Please.

Jackson does up the MV game a level or 3. I always think of the typical kpop MV as "band in a box" style. Jackson has stepped out of the box and I like it.

I liked it... his high barritone when he said 'let it go and out the door' is unique and even the chorus is catchy

I am surprised no one poured out how I has the same feeling as The way you make me feel by Michael Jackson. The MV feels also inspired by that song as well in the way Jackson wang chases / follows the female down a street and dances in the rain just like Michael Jackson did in The way you make me feel MV.

Jackson is not consideted to be kpop on his own and his recent videos are not masked by the typical kpop mvs. He does everything so his creativity flourishes im his works unlike in JYPE where they limit got7's creative freedom.

In The Mood For Love has been one of my favourite films for ages now. There’s a certain old world charm about the set looking like a set and not actual real life. But I think the point was always the emoting so it didn’t matter. A very well shot video.

The video is the best bit for me as the edm elements of the song over power Jackson's voice too much. I'd love to hear this with the balance a bit more even or allowing Jackson's voice to stand out against the beats.
