Freddie Mercury was a man of many talents and many different sides. The songs he wrote for and with Queen filled stadiums around the globe and have rightly gone down in history, but he also embarked on a solo career that took him from the clubs of Munich and New York to the great opera houses of the world.
He was the ultimate showman, but he kept his private life away from the prying eyes of the media; a larger than life rock star who loved disco, classical music and ballet. He was a restless spirit, a true chameleon who revelled in his own contradictions.
All the different sides of this iconic musician can be found on Freddie Mercury: Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles. All formats released September 2nd 2016.
This was Freddie Mercury's first single from the 1985 'Mr Bad Guy' album - his first solo album. The Director was David Mallet and it was shot entirely at Limehouse Studios in London. The single was released in the UK on 9th April 1985.

The thing that strikes me is that you could do the same lyrics in a different style and with a different singer, and it would sound sappy or uncomfortably clingy. I will never understand why Freddie's solo work especially Mr. Bad guy never did better than what it did. They are really awesome tracks, sure it's not queen but still awesome.
Just my opinion, but I think it was because it was so synth oriented. While most fans liked his solo stuff, I think they were really missing the musicality with Freddie's solo work that they got with Queen. This song for example was far better when the remaining members of Queen reworked it for the Made in Heaven album.
actually a lot of the freddie mercurys solo work ( like a lot of queen songs as well) have a larger shelf life ...as they are all being discovered now..the album .hot space for example which was written off then as an album when great bands lost the plot..is now being accepted and loved...i guess its all about the time...but yeah...mr bad guy is a killer album..even songs like man made paradise and lets turn it on...
