      Yeah. I think the major problem is that small EVs just dont make much money. So many brands are focusing on these big overpriced things to help pay the tab for the expense of both going EV and losing a chunk of the ICE car sales that were supposed to pay for their last gen platform. I am confident that we will see more smaller cars in the future (perhaps after a big leap in battery technology) but for now this is what is paying for that.

      I disagree. It’s pointless not using that space for charge ports and controls and places to put stuff. There’s absolutely no reason for a gap in front of the centre console - you will never pass between the left and right so why have a useless void? A missed opportunity there.
      Also - at least the drive selector is it’s own stalk unlike Tesla where you think it’s the wipers or headlights (so dumb) - far too easy to change it out of gear by accident.

    • @paul1242
      @paul1242 10 개월 전

      @@jerrymyahzcat
      If you park on a busy city street (like NYC), it's safer for the driver to enter or exit the car on the passenger side next to the curb, instead of into oncoming traffic.
      Storage can be provided by slide out drawers under the front seats, and charge ports can be located in the door pockets, the dashboard, or in the glove compartment. Cup holders can be available by slide out cup holders recessed into the dashboard area.
      Before posting this comment I queried
      ChatGPT to see what it had to say. This is what it said:
      "Yes, it is generally safer to enter or exit a car from the passenger side when parked on a busy city street. This practice is often referred to as "curbside exiting" or "far-side exiting." The main reason for this is that it reduces the risk of opening the door into oncoming traffic.
      When a driver or passenger exits a vehicle on the driver's side in a busy street, there is a higher chance of the door opening directly into the path of moving vehicles, such as cars, bicycles, or motorcycles. This can lead to collisions and accidents, especially if the approaching vehicles are traveling at high speeds or are not able to react quickly enough.
      By choosing to exit on the passenger side, individuals can minimize the risk of being struck by oncoming traffic. They can use the proximity to the sidewalk or curb as a buffer and have a clearer view of any approaching vehicles. This practice is particularly important in urban areas with heavy traffic, where the risk of accidents is higher."
      I will add that there are other circumstances where having two exit options are better than one. If you are in a side impact collision and the driver's door is unable to open you are pinned by the door and the center console, so it would be great to have another exit available, especially if the car is on fire. Also, if the car runs off the road into a ditch, and the driver's side door is blocked by the ditch wall you are in the same situation. You'd be glad to have another exit option.

      The Long Range version is expected to feature 100kWh of battery capacity. Although it has a high battery capacity, it is losing a lot in aerodynamics because of its cool box design. We will know only when the exact specifications are released, but we will not have secured as much new mileage as expected. It is known to have a mileage of approximately 304 to 305 miles based on the long range version.

    Great looking but then you still have to deal with Kia dealerships where the staff knows little to nothing about EVs and doesn't care to learn and that maybe have 1 or 2 certified techs who may or may not be available because they also work on ICE vehicles and not EVs exclusively. We had a 2019 Kia Niro EV and it was a wonderful little crossover EV but anytime we needed service we had to rely upon one of the two certified techs being available and minor things took all day or even overnight. We own a Tesla Model 3 now and service is leaps and bounds better than any service we have ever received on any of our cars in the past. I realize not all Tesla service centers are the same but ours here in Palm Springs, CA is excellent. Not until the dealerships change their service model and the charging infrastructure for non-Tesla EVs is improved dramatically will we consider any other EV than a Tesla.

    Love it, but until somebody finds a way to reduce weight while maintaining structural stability and safety, EVs this size are just too big to provide 350+ range. We just couldn't complain about driving tanks like this if they were barely less efficient than say, an Ioniq5.

    Very nice. The interior and controls are great. We really need final numbers on range. For such a massive road trip vehicle I'm not sure high 200s is going to cut it. Ideally 350 miles and up is going to be better. I say this because if you already have to charge it at 80% then you don't get that 20%. Driving dynamics will also decrease but in some case increase efficiency so we'll need to see it tested in the real world.
    The exterior styling is ok. Really boxy like a Chevy Suburban in my opinion. The design I like best is the upcoming Hyundai Ioniq 7. It's not as boxy but sexier looking.
