I've known his music and all the relationship with Jay Park, but I never really heard his life story or what he has been through, so I'm glad that Dumbfoundead did the interview with him. And I think Dok2 is super cool and now I can understand why he gets a lot of respects in hip-hop world. Respect from Japan.

Well, I mean like Dok2 and Jay became friends after Jay left the group and they did some collabs. I’ve been a fan of Jay since he came out as a solo artist and the first song I heard from him was “abandon” which featured by Dok2 and that’s how I know him too. They also supported each other’s labels.
Well Dok2 level ain't that high to be interviewed by some other studio. He just wanna spark from somewhere.

thats because Bigbang was supposed to be a HipHop group kinda like how BTS was when they started. But YG scrapped it out and made them more into a traditional pop boy band which upset GD and Taeyang....and didnt get along well with other trainees like T.O.P, Daesung , Seungri and Hyun Seung in the early training days
HiRock Beats oh that makes sense. And you gotta point with the BTS reference because that’s how I got into BTS in the first place. I liked their hip hop style and form of music. Now their mainstream and mainly pop and that’s okay and all but I like the debut BTS better.

I highly doubt its any of those above mentioned. They've proven their love for the craft and respect to the genre and previous artists. And Crush and Dean aren't even self-proclaimed hip hop artists. They (along with Zico), just like to express themselves through art and music, transcending boundaries. I do see what he means though. A lot of young people in Korea seem to have a misconception on hip-hop. They think its about looking cool, dissing, money, acting badass, being aggressive, smoking and drinking (which a lot of underage rappers have gotten in trouble for in recent years). Some of the top rappers do have stuff like this in their music, but they know that's not all of what the culture is, and they know honing your skills come first and foremost. Bewhy said on a radio show "Hip-hop (or rap) isn't about dissing. That's only one aspect of it"

I was so bewildered by dok2 speaking english that the podcast was over before I knew it lol this was a hella good conversation. I feel like i got to know dok2 alot! He's a chill af dude
His accent trips me out. He talks like he grew up in an urban city in the states, but you can hear the Korean accent at certain points in the interview.
I know right. I usually just follow his insta posts and most are pure korean language so I never thought he’d be this fluent in English
When I first heard English parts in his music I could tell it was very fluent. Anyone can read the language and recite lyrics but there's something about his pronunciation you can tell he's a fluent speaker

I was at a party with Dumb and Awkwafina in new york years ago before she blew up and remember how chill they were. I'm happy for Breezy cuz i've been following him since he was broke, but that guy changed.

Dok2 said in Jay’s documentary that the true reason he kept to himself and The Quiett is that if Jay joined 1llionaire everyone would think 1llionaire is Jay’s label. Him and Jay are cool but he wanted 1llionaire to be popular because people liked their crew not just because of Jay Park was a part of it, who was hella famous at the time.

Thanks for making this happen! So many comments about Dok2’s limited English but mad respect to him as he dropped out of school at a very young age and I’m sure he picked up English by himself. I’m just happy I can understand and hear about his story.

I found out about him through the music he did with Jay and been a fan ever since. Dok2 is a super dope/chill dude
I was listening to Dok2 waay before I got into the khiphop scene and I think it's because I always felt there was something more genuine and organic about his music. It sortve felt close to home.
Dumb mentioned how 'different' he raps which is interesting because in the past I found his rapping smoother compared to other korean rappers (even though I speak english). His flow always felt easy on my ears, and he seem to be in sync with all the beats in his music. I had to get used to the korean language quite abit in order to fully enjoy other k-rappers (which i do now :)! )
Overall I'm glad to finally learn something about Dok2 because honestly I never knew a single thing about the dude besides his music. To throw yourself into something you love whole-heartly is truly inspiring.
