What are the brand names you hear others pronounce incorrectly?
Yves Saint Laurent
Raphael, the pronunciation of Moschino it's wrong I'm afraid, it's 'mos-key-no', the c is hard. Ermenegildo Zegna is a bit off, but only and Italian would notice it I think. Your Italian pronunciation is great anyway.
Moss Bros.
JLC
Jaguar cars are 'Jag you are' in England. Not 'Jag whar' like our American friends say.
Oh yes, Bayer, my favorite designer luxury headache medication.
I'm sorry, its *Ah, yes.
Tia Walker *it's .
😭😂😭
yea tbh i know it wasn't the aim of his video but as an American in Germany that was the highest value section of the video for me
obscurantist ahahahahahaha
Otherwise known as “brands I can’t afford”
Jess you can’t afford aspirin? 😉
You can't afford sneakers?
I was thinking the same thing. It doesn't make any difference how I would say it. I'll never see them.
Also, if I ever do have enough money to buy these things, I could pronounce them any way I want and no one would disagree. Money has its own accent.
+Baruch Ben-David.... You good sir have struck the nail directly on the head!!! Snobby people who look down their collective noses can go, (as my daughter would say) 'love themselves'... I personally would say it much more crudely and rudely!!.....
Jess
Or also: "brands i have never heard of in my entire life" (at least for many of those brands):D
This reminds me of the Harry Potter movie when Hermione said, “ it’s levi-OH-sa not levio-SAH.”

55. K-Mart

56. Salvation Army

😩😂😂
Daniel Lee and you missed the first 60 seconds where he discussed arrogant pricks.
Cause they have no culture.
"People may think of you as a peasant"
Me:Well yes sir,that i am.
Ferrari and Lamborghini used to make tractors so maybe some lowly peasants could make use of a Fur-awry or a Lemboh?
Lololol 😂😂😂
@@MarcovandenHout They didn't just use to make tractors, both manufacture tractors to this very day.
That said though, "peasant" is not synonymous with "farmer" exactly, it means "a poor smallholder or agricultural labourer of low social status". So a rich farmer is not a peasant, for example.
😂
Ralph Lauren's real name is actually Ralph Yanny
PointByRacing r/woooosh
Laurel
And he's definitely wearing a white and gold dress.
Aha! That took me a moment!
Ralph Lauren's real name is Ralph Lifshitz. TRUTH.
You got Moschino wrong, in Italian “chi” is pronounced “kee”, so it’s mos-kee-no
also, the double R in Ferrè is much stronger than that. there are two of them, you must pronounce them both.
Yes! I thought this
Also the G and the Z in Ermenegildo Zegna are wrong, they have to be harder
He also got Porsche wrong
Jc Longa no Porsche was right
Just waste 16mins of my life trying to learn to pronounce brands I'll never be able to buy stuff from
Plus, french is a waste of time.
At least we can buy French Fries at Mc donalds cheaply.....
You need to look at it from the perspective that you are increasing your vocabulary. Not only that but you're also learning how to say things properly which is beneficial when you're having conversation with people. A poor man who enjoys reading and discussion will always find use for new knowledge regardless of his pocket book.

You mispronounced "Moschino", the "che" should be pronounced like a "k"
Samu umaS This brand is pronounced as “ch” but the wine is pronounced as “kee”.
@@elizabethfuhr5527 I'm italian and I'm sure that the brand's "che" too is pronounced like a K
Elizabeth Fuhr I had to research it cause I always pronounced the Italian way: mos ki no.
It seems this is the correct pronunciation (at least in Italian)
Definitely, the right pronunciation is Moss - kee - no
7:07 "Söhne, is 'n Umlaut" love it.
Warum?
His prononciation is sooo Godod
@@hallow7102 weil er einfach anfängt Deutsch zu reden

@@saidtozoglu7570 er hat gesagt: "It's an Umlaut" weil es womöglich kein englisches Wort für Umlaut gibt
As a European (Swede), I find it comforting that we usually have it easier to pronounce these European brands somewhat correct. Our natural accent is quite close to the German.
7:10 "Sööööhne - issn Umlaut" ahja, danke :D
Oddly enough they will take your cash regardless how you pronounce it
so true
Completely underrated comment!!!!!! 😆
I love pronouncing words/brand names correctly but I always feel like people are going to laugh at me for faking an accent that is not my own (American).
In my opinion, so long as you say it close to the source language's pronunciation, you're doing better than most. Even though I likely still butcher the pronunciation of foreign words, at least attempting to say them properly is better than shoehorning them into an already messy language's rules.
When in America you say it like the American. When In Europe then everything else is acceptable.
Jay Rodriguez just say it ALWAYS correctly
Remember, it is they who want to sell to you so you should feel welcome to pronounce it any way you like. Don’t be intimidated- they want and need your money no matter how you pronounce the name of their product. Snobbery has no place in commerce.
Same here...
All good.. but Moschino is absolutely wrong!
“Aympoorenojaab”
That’s my favorite designer brand.
Native french speaker here : your prononciation is really good ! And your content is qualitative too, thank you
I found his pronunciation of nasal vowels imprecise - he confuses the "on" and "an/en" sounds.
The real question is "What can Americans pronounce properly?"
Apparently nothing. He failed to talk about the perfect pronunciation and accent of Japanese,, Chinese, Koreans, Indians, Arabs, Iranians, etc. By implication that means only Americans cannot pronounce these brand names correctly.

49. Moschino is pronounced moskino, not moss-chino! Thanks for reminding me that I always pronounce Porsche incorrectly...
enzo messina yep I'm Italian he's right. it's moskeeno, not how he said it.
Porsche has to be pronounced in german
Refuse to call Moschino moskeeno, what am I middle class? No chance
Smacktrick Bateman hahahahaha but it sounds way better!
the pronounciation of porsche in the video is wrong though. in germany we pronounce the r and don't swallow it like he does. it's Porsche, not posche.
I'm Italian, and I studied foreign languages (English, German and French) at the university. Also, I spent several years abroad.
I can really tell that you have German roots (which I already assumed from your surname), your German in fact is just perfect. Also your French is quite accurate. Your Italian is not that bad, but still clearly spoken by a foreigner. The g in Ermenegildo was wrong. And Moschino was really totally mispronounced. 😋 Still, I think you are overall really skilled even in languages. Way above the average.
Actually, he has trouble with nasal sounds in French. I've gone into the details in my own comment.
I'm also surprised you didn't mention that he pronounced the Z at the beginning of Zegna as Z, not as DZ.
I'm an American who has never misprounounced the vast majority of these brands. Because I've never heard of them.
posting their ignorance in the KRplus comment section is as peckerwood as Americans can get
Hätte niemals gedacht das du aus Deutschland kommst😅 wirklich sehr gutes englisch👍🏼
danke
Nur die Aussprache von Porsche stimmt nicht so ganz 😉
Not really.
Der Akzent war einfach herauszuhören.
Aus Mainz? Wegen dem Bild der Mainzer Altstadt?
Im german and i can tell you take you can cleary hear the R in Porsche, its not Posche
StandScoper Es ist außerdem richtig komisch wie er das „o“ betont 😂😂😂
Iwi ein verschluchtes r, man überhört es leicht aber es ist da
Es kommt drauf an, im Westen und Norden sagt man eher sowas wie "Poasche", im Osten und Süden betont man das R viel stärker
@@RandolphCrane Aber er sagt auch nicht Poasche (denn so sag ich es). Er sagt Posche.
Ne er sagt das schon richtig, so sagt man es in Stuttgart.
Everytime he uses the word peasant , i cant stop laughing.... love this guy
Ah my man you mispronounced some italian ones like moschino and ermenegildo zegna
correct.....
Actually Moschino is pronounced: Moskino in Italian 👍🏼🇮🇹 great vid btw
Fabio Bernardi thanks for correcting what I supposed to do.
I was to supposed to comment this but then I saw yours 😂
Fantastic video idea. Very helpful. I was sounding like a peasant apparently 😂
(Inserting humor) The peasants are revolting!
i am a peasant...so this vid is perfect :-)
Alpha Fort I think it’s appropriate to say brand names in your accent when it makes sense. Some people in their naïveté pronoun American brands such as Ralph Lauren - Ralph Luh - Rahn as if it’s French. Granted his last name really was Lifshitz. Unless the pronunciation is so butchered it’s unrecognizable I’d stick with my Americanized regional way. If I’m corrected by someone who knows better I’ll accept. Or if I’m mispronouncing the name of someone personally. Of course out of respect I will try. Other than that I think there are other linguistic details in common everyday usage I’d rather focus on. Honestly, I watch the first two minutes out of curiosity and then I realize life is too short to focus on pronouncing name brands correctly. I’d rather expand my vocabulary by being well read. Learn better Spanish (I live in California) and relax… Rather than worry about whether people think I’m pronouncing brand names correctly. Signing off, still a peasant and proud!
That is because you ARE a peasant! Said in my best French accent lol Just like the French inspector played so well by Peter Sellers lol
Prepperjon better a peasant than a pretentious, status seeking fop!

True! Also Baum & Mercier is not "BOm" but it's more "open"...somewhere between the French "O" and "A"
@@imaneenn8522 How would you say it (Baume & Mercier I mean)? Can you spell it out in more detail? Part of the reason it is difficult for American's to pronounce some of this is exposure. I don't know any French or German people and have 0 exposure to their language at any given time. That said I like watches and so many have foreign names that sometimes it is tough to say them, which is why I watched this.

Your italian pronunciation is as good as Brad Pitt’s in Inglourious Basterds

I can pronounce Rolls Royce. What does that mean?
nunya biznez it means they actually send you one and pay you an allowance for champagne
no american will ever correctly pronounce umlaute
I am sorry to say, but you have incorporated one mistake in your video. Although Moët et Chandon indeed is a French champagne, it was actually founded by a Dutchman, Claude Moët. As such, the T is in fact pronounced. This was something I myself learned when visiting Moët Et Chandon’s facilities in Épernay.
And that's how we pronounce it in France :)
Indeed, we French people pronounce it "Moëtte et Chandon".
he also mispronounced Porsche.
I am sorry but you are wrong ! The real name of the ascendants of Claude MOËT was LeClerc ( a French name 😂) . One of his member was nicknamed "mouette" ...then " MOËT". So the word MOËT is 100% French ! 🤣
Even if Claude MOËT was from Dutch ascendancy !!!
I was not miss pronouncing any of these cause I hadn't even heard of most of them

13:46 Moschino (Italian family name with ch pronounced in English as a k not Mos-cheeno but: Moskino)
I'm surprised you did not explain Jaeger LeCoultre, which many connoisseurs actually mispronounce "yægerlecoultre" due to the German origin of the name however, the company explains that, given to its origin in the French-Swiss area, the name is to be pronounced "jejelecultre"
but.. even inside jaeger le coultre, some people pronounce jaeger in a german way and som in the french way.. so probably both is correct (but jejerlecu(l)tre sounds much better

Thank you sir!!
An excellent video - I am pleased to hear the correct pronunciations for a change!
Very very appreciated. Thank you.
Here I am wondering why I'm watching a video about the pronunciation of brands I can't afford.
The T is pronounced in Moet as it is a Dutch last name rather than French, and I have personally received training from LVMH where they have explicitly stated they expect it to be pronounced with the T.
It's pronounced because of the liaison on account of the "et." If, for example, the word following Moet was a word that started with a consonant, the the "T" would be silent. but because the word "et" starts with a vowel, then you need to "link or liaison" the two words by pronouncing the t in MOET
@@TonyBuffone unfortunately wrong. The name "Moet" is Dutch and that's why the "t" is pronounced anyways
Sir you are wrong ! It is not MOET but MOËT with the umlaut on the E like the French word NOËL !
The founder was Claude MOËT in 1743 ! Nothing to do with the Dutch !
This was legit i thought there was gonna be some misspronuncation on some French and German brands but not at all 👌👌👌
Most I pronounce correctly since I’m bilingual with French. Thanks for introducing Loro Pianá; I checked the site I got another 10 years before wearing such clothes good to know. I'm trilingual but not one of those languages is German. I had them all messed up.
Jaeger-LeCoultre is also frequently mispronounced.
Wieder ein tolles Video, sehr interessant ,lg 🙋🏻♂️
The American commercials for Mercedes are likely the reason why it is mispronounced. The narrator's voice has a slight British accent thus altering the pronunciation. The same applies to other luxury brands mentioned in public events, TV shows and movies... the moment it is mispronounced, it is repeated. Great video!
Was it Jeremy Clarckson ?
13:40 are you kidding me ?! The correct pronounce is moss-ki-no
