It was the last generation that had decent music. I see Rock as having a specific signature feel for the decades of the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's. Then it ended. Half a century of great music. Not too bad.

This was one of those songs that just played in the background during those years. I never liked or disliked it. I never gave it any thought. A forgotten song. Someone played it this weekend at a 4th of July party. I stopped whatever the hell I was doing and I froze like a statue.. my ears were straining to hear it. I can't believe it struck me that hard. After not hearing it for so long..

my absolute favorite song in the Summer of 95 - in July my long time GF was cheating on me/we met in a McDonalds parking lot to hash it out - there she dumped me on the Spot - devastated!!! she left me for another dude. i was pissed and sad at the same time. her friends showed up with the new guy. i left tail tucked - got in my 1994 green Ford Ranger and turned on the Radio, this song had JUST STARTED AT THE BEGINNING. no way, if i ever needed it, it was there for me. blasted all the way up so they all could hear and pealed out of the parking lot , never looking back. thank you Live. thank you.

I agree so 100% - real bands real music real fans....so different today, it's all manufactured bands, manufactured to sell and manufactured hype and manufactured to get the best face on a magazine. 90s rock was all garage bands made up of friends who were so good they "made it" and would be called "sell outs" when singing with a major label....now,.it's the labels that create the "bands" and everything about them. Watch a "rock band interview" of today, and then watch Kurt Cobain interviewed, Michael Stipe, all these bands....i miss the 90s

I recently found an old journal I kept in the 90's and it read: " I love the new music that is coming out." And I smiled at the thought of noticing a shift in what I heard. I still love it!
This was my #1 favorite song for at least 1 year as a teen. I played it over and over, and I still love it. Just something about it; the vocals, the drums.

It could be related to prostitution, but it mostly seems to be about unreciprocated love. Someone loves a person who doesn't love them back, the meaning of "our love is like water", it flows in one direction. The prostitute could be who he loves.
In this day and age, it's not hard to draw reference between the singer and God. God loves us, but humanity is increasingly ignoring him, trying to erase him. Even many who keep the faith only pray for things they want and not out of love for God. It's mostly one sided love on God's part.
