As a midwife, I feel I should share some of my experience…😂😂🤷♂️ Don’t spend a lot of money on the baby bath that goes inside the bathtub - you only use it for a few months until baby can sit up unaided, then you get another thing that allows the baby to sit in a regular bathtub without falling over or slipping around. Buy a great quality car seat as that will protect your baby from being hurt should you get in a fender bender, plus babies spend a bit of time in them even at home, they are great when you start introducing solids and have to keep baby still while trying to feed them with a spoon (you only need a high chair from about 9-12 months), and then you get a bigger car seat when they reach a certain weight and height. The crib that attaches to the bed is great for the first few months and you will be feeding a bit during the night and anything that makes life easier and gives you more sleep is to be treasured. A good, easy to use breast pump is essential if you are planning on breast feeding. But you can get a microwave bottle steriliser which is much cheaper and works just as well as the electric sterilisers - you only sterilise bottles until the baby is 12 months old so don’t spend a huge amount on it. Also, depending on how you feel about this, it makes life easier later if once breast feeding is properly established, you introduce a bottle with breast milk in it so they get used to how to drink from it - this allows others to help with feeding as you can freeze your breast milk ahead of time, then Josh can do a night feed, or your mum can, your mum in law can baby sit etc. being exclusively on breast milk is great, but exclusively breast feeding can be a little restrictive unless your baby also takes some breast milk from a bottle (just something to think about for when they are a couple months old). Many people see a buggy/pram as a status symbol and they go for the super-expensive brands, but really you don’t need anything fancy - check if you can collapse/fold it and open it up with one hand as if you are alone and carrying your child, you may have to do that, also make sure baby can lay down to sleep as well as being able to sit up to look around - that’s it for buggies. Also, when you do your registry, mark a range of different ages/sizes for clothing as you will never use as much newborn things as you think you will, and people like to buy gifts. Get a range of different blankets too - thin ones and thicker ones. Great rule is to dress baby as you are comfortable yourself, if you think there may be a little chill, add a light blanket, but mostly they should be dressed as we do - if it’s hot, a nappy and a vest is fine - babies can’t regulate their own temperatures like we can, so they overheat or get cold easily - be aware of both issues. Get lots of cloths for spit-up (it’s called positing when the baby regurgitates a little milk), cos they do that a lot - also the nappy bin is a great thing to have as dirty nappies REALLY stink. Buy lots of disposable nappies too, in a variety of sizes as babies grow quite quickly. The easiest way to keep your baby’s nails short is to bite them or file them gently (baby-nails are very soft, but tricky to trim), and those mittens I see so many British babies wearing are not necessary if you keep their nails trimmed, and in fact, I don’t like them - babies use touch to explore their world and to learn about objects they see, but if they are wearing mittens they can feel anything. Enough to use a few muslins a day if need be. Throw over the shoulder or just for general dribble wiping. Loads of bibs too, if baby is a dribbler. My niece used to go through so many a day. She was such a drooly baby 😂 Also I think Tommee Tippee do the bottle maker thing. Does the water for the set amount if baby is bottle fed. My friend had two of them. One in the bedroom for night bottles and the other downstairs. Way better than using the kettle and then doing the wrist test and waiting for it to cool in its bowl of cold water 😅😂
Babies need to build up their immunities early. Sterilisation isn't as good a thing as it's hyped up to be. Washing bottles in hot soapy water and dried thoroughly is all that is needed. Too many children were brought up with Sterilisation everything and have a higher rate of allergies and food intolerance. Many generations of baby boomers can attest to being reared this way and surviving just fine! Have fun with your new bundle of joy. You've worked hard getting to where you are! Congratulations!
As a mum of soon to be 4, this is some great advice. Regarding mittens, if you have to cover their hands due to scratching, just use another pair of socks. They tend to be longer and stay on better 🙂 my 2nd born had mild to moderate eczema on his cheeks and putting socks on his hands prevented him from scratching til his poor cheeks were raw and bleeding 😢

Okay, as a Mom with 5 y.o boy now, what I've learned is that babies especially new born out grows their clothes so fast. And for the other, I think what you need is - DIAPERS! - clothes (includes jacket, socks, and mittens(?)) - bottles - breast pump - napkins - adjustable cribs (so you can use it till 6 months+) - adjustable stroller + car seat - baby carrier I think that's all for new born.. the rest of it will follow as the baby grows. Happy to see your excitement!! But trust me after having five, I did the same with my first and I soonly realised that you don't need most of the things we buy for our first. A crib, diapers need to be stock piled , a good pram and car seat, clothes obviously but the little ones grow so quickly so try buy little and up 3 sizes. Gabby a good wrap to keep little baby Carrot close while you get things done. My best bit of advice is sleeeeep as much as you can now my love 💕 Sorry if I sound bossy I'm only trying to give you advice beautiful mumma xx❤
Agree with you. It is so hard to know what your little one will adjust to. Will they be swaddle lovers or space lovers. Ours (now a teen!?) didnt care much for the little crib and ended up in his cot fairly early - loved the space.
As a new mum for a few months, my Top 10: #1 Pram - choose something sturdy as a wheelbarrow with mid size wheels and good storage underneath. It will get thrown about a lot. Even the heavier ones aren't that heavy. Get good suspension on it. It's surprising how rough pavements and park paths are. Silvercross is exceptional (buy ex-display models for discount) and the top can be used as a travel cot for 6mths. Really helpful. #2 Car seat - may be part of a travel system package with your pram. Doesn't need to be fancy but definitely comfortable. Get the isofix base for great safety. Don't worry about it turning on the base. You don't need to get the same brand as your pram. You can get universal quick-release adapter clips that let you put any brand car seat on your pram base. #3 Crib - moses baskets are too small. The 'next to me' style with the drop down side is great. Easily soothe baby without having to get up. Snuzpod is fab - the top comes off to use around the house. #4 Blankets and sleeping bag - have several blankets to hand for the pram, cat seat, crib, holding them in the lounge. Babies need to be kept warm (warmer than most "How to dress your baby" recommendations) for the first 12 weeks. Sleeping bags are great if you're not swaddling. #5 Bouncer - can get second hand. Make sure the seat is long (some small ones mean baby's heels are kicking the frame edge very quickly). So handy for putting them down when the floor isn't practical and when they want to watch you. #6 - Sling/carrier - with a tiny baby it's less essential as you'll be wanting to sit a lot to recover and not trying to do lots of things (recovery takes longer than anyone lets on). But as they get older and want to watch everything it's super helpful. Preference is personal so try some at your local sling library. Get second hand (see octopus club for quality stuff). I used a wrap first then the ergobaby 360 for more positions for baby. #6 - Nappy caddy and bag - keep all your items in a little fabric caddy or a basket for changing them anywhere in the house. A changing table is nice, but not necessary. The floor and a changing mat works great. Aldi nappies are the best disposables. And a changing bag to fit your stuff in when out and about. A rucksack style keeps you hands free. Some will clip to your pram handle which is amazing. #8 Clothes - buy cheap. They grow out of everything within 2 weeks. Literally. Get second hand. 8-10 vests and 8-10 onesies plus three jumpers of newborn, 0-3 and 3-6 sizes each will be enough for 5 months. You'll do washing every day from here on in. There's huge variance in sizes between brands. (Also get 10 muslins. You'll need them all after a few weeks.) #9 Napisan - take the stains out of everything, even white clothes, with an overnight soak. Also great if they get thrush or a bug as this will kill the bacteria on all their stuff in the wash. Every nappy is a poopy nappy for the first couple of months. Poonamis happen on a constant basis. #10 Nipple care - Lasinoh beats other brands for effectiveness and quality. Get a lot of reusable breast pads. Like 20 pairs. Buy lanolin nipple cream!! So much stuff is unnecessary or not needed immediately. Baby will be with you or a trusted carer 24/7 for the first 4 months so a monitor isn't essential yet. Baby gym is great from 3 months. A baby bath is super helpful but not necessary. Toys are great but anything can be a toy. Your house is full of crinkly bags, water, rattly containers, books etc. At 3 months buy a matchstick monkey teether. I didn't pump (seems like a lot of hassle!) so can't advise there. Your baby will hate everything for the first few weeks - their crib, the pram, the sling, the bouncer, baths, nappy changes, clothes, burping...- everything is new and overwhelming. Learn how to bed share safely from the lullaby trust. This is a godsend. Don't pay to much attention to the fear mongering from the NHS. Your baby hates being apart from you for long and may only sleep if they're on you for the first few weeks. This will change after 4-6 weeks naturally. But bedsharing and cosleeping when needed make it possible for you to sleep for recovery too!
Yes yes yes to everything 😍 This was the comment I was looking for. My first SCREAMED every time we put him down to do a nappy change after we came home from the hospital 😮 we learned to sing a lullaby while changing him worked, but took some trial and error. As with everything when you have a child. They don’t come with instructions and there is no ‘one fits all’. I would also recommend trying to pack the buggy in the trunk of your car before buying it.

저도 영국에 사는 아들 둘 맘입니다. 저는 여기서 거의 대부분을 세컨헨드로 샀어요. 애기들은 빨리 커서 그닥 비싼게 필요없거든요. 세컨헨드 중에 컨디션 좋은 것도 많이 있답니다. 내 친구는 아주 비싸고 좋은 브랜드의 유모차를 값싼 가격에 구매하기도 했죠. 먼저 병원에서 부터 나올때 부터 필요한 것부터 말씀 드릴께요 1. 카시트 2. 아기침대( 전 모유수유를 해서 아기랑 계속 같이 잤습니다. 그래서 별로 필요는 없었지만 그래도 좀 편하게 잘려면 필요하답니다) 3. 아기옷(턱받침), nappy, 물티슈, Sudo cream(for nappy rashes): 이건 병원에서 임산부 팩으로 해서 조그마한 거 넣어줄겁니다. 손수건, 파우더, 로션 등등 4. 아기 담요(겨울용, 여름용) 여기 여름은 좀 쌀쌀하니 약간 두터워도 괜찮을 것 같네요 5. 아기 bath tub, 아기용 물비누 등등 6. Calpol syrup( 아기 열나면 먹여야 해요) 근데 아주 아기일땐 좌약이 편하답니다. 여기선 좌약보다 Calpol을 더 먹이죠. 우선 비상시에 먹여야 하니깐 준비해두세요 7. Thermometer( 아기 열 잴때 생깁니다. 준비해두세요) 8. Baby changing Mat, Nappy bin 9. 젓병, 분유(모유수유가 안나오거나 둘다 하고 싶을 땐 준비하세요), 젓병 소독기 10. 모유펌프(모유가 잘 나오면 필요가 있겠지만 잘 나오지 않으면 펌프가 별로필요가 없습니다. 전 모유가 엄청 나왔는데도 펌프로는 잘 안나오더라구요, 그래서 전 안쓰고 밖에 다닐땐 분유 집에서는 모유로 먹였습니다. 아이마다 다 다르지만 분유를 먹게되면 모유를 안 먹는 수가 있으니 주의하세요) 11. 유모차 가비씨가 말한 모든 것들이 있으면 편하죠. 우선 급한 건 이런 것 부터 사고 나머진 아기 들이고 나서 사셔도 괜찮아요. 순산하시길 기도할께요. 🎉

Josh has expressed how obsessed he can get with preparing, thankfully. He was apparently researching dog care for months before they got Brie. He also seems very supportive and eager to be equal partners, so I doubt Gabie will ever need to feel alone ❤️
@@udiana2887 Maybe Josh and Gabbie can babysit the park siblings for ONE episode of return of Superman. They will be a handful. Especially the boys. For Aciel he prefers English. While Eden can speak Korean.And Aciel speaks with a BRITISH/ ENGLISH accent. I think he goes to a British school.

So happy for you both! It definitely looked super overwhelming, but from experience, you don't need everything that is marketed for babies. As a nanny who has worked in different households and seen many brands, I have a few things I recommend. 1. To me, the Stokke highchair is a great investment. It grows with your child and will still seat them when they are 10 years old. I used mine until I was about 8 years old. 2. Definitely get a baby bath of some sort: it's a hassle to fill a whole tub for a baby, and just using the sink can be tricky as they are pretty slippery. You can get a folding one (Stokke) to save space, or use some hacks (like just a foam pad in water to keep the baby from slipping). 3. A good car seat is a must! Yes, the 360 swivel can seem unneeded, but I have woken far too many babies trying to get them out of the car seat and into the house. If it's in the budget, and you will be driving frequently, I would recommend it. With systems like the MaxiCosi you can generally also find bases that will work as the child grows older. Look into if you really want the baby seat (which has the function of being able to detach and be put on the stroller), or if you'd rather get a bigger seat upfront which will last the first 4 years, but which won't attach to a stroller. Really depends on your lifestyle. I'm not sure if it is available in the UK, but Nuna is also a great brand. 4. Choose a stroller with good functionality. I always appreciated families that had strollers which transitioned into different modes (seat attachments) because I could adapt easily as the child grew. Good wheels are also a must (although all strollers that have seating option changes typically have good wheels). I like the bugaboo and the Nuna strollers (of the ones I have used), but have seen great reviews for the Joie as well. 5. Yes, get a diaper bin. It saves the nursery from smelling terrible. 6. Kids outgrow their first clothes really fast. If you can get into a second hand “circle” (where clothes are passed down in a set of families who have children about 3 months apart in age) then that is a great way to get through the first 12 months at least. 7. Baby carriers are amazing and come in all different styles. I would suggest looking up a shop or person specializing in baby wearing. They will generally offer consultations and training so you can find what works best for you and learn how to use it before the baby arrives. Structured carriers are great, for example, but some only work for front carrying rather than both front and back (once the child is old enough). Wrap cloths are versatile, but have a steeper learning curve. 8. For bottles, I recommend the Comotomo silicone bottles. Out of all the brands I have used, I find them to be the most versatile and easy to clean. I've also used them transitioning children from breast to bottle. Honestly though, in terms of feeding functionality I find most bottles to be the same (apart from ones made specifically for slower feeding), it's really a style and material preference. 9. Consider using a toy subscription service like Lovery. There are also toy subscription rental services. This is useful because what very young children need/can do changes rapidly, and so it can be nice to have a simple, small selection that comes along as they are developing. 10. Invest in a diaper bag that is functional for you. It doesn't have to be expensive, but having a well-structured bag, that has enough pockets, and will fit your needs will make going out much easier. There is nothing worse in my opinion than having a small child and needing to scramble and grab 3 bags just to take diapers, snacks, and toys. It's easier if it all fits in one place. I'm probably forgetting something, but off the top of my head, when I think about caring for a newborn, these are the things that made my job easier. All of this is just my opinion, of course, and there are no real rules when it comes to what to purchase and how much: it's all a matter of preference!
These are a great recommendations! We're on kid #2 and everything you mentioned is great. Also, the bedside bassinet that was shown is GREAT! So much easier to use if you're going to have baby in the room with you. Additionally, I've gotten a lot of things second-hand. A lot of times, with kids stuff, things go almost unused. Sometimes you have to try multiple options to find what works, so then you can get items almost brand new for a fraction of the price. Just like with weddings, there's a TON of things marketed to parents and a lot of it is unnecessary. Talk to other parents, look at websites, see what would work, and know that you'll probably buy a bunch of stuff you don't need. 😅
@@lizetteolsen3218 It's really great! I actually gifted it to a family member for their first child, so it could even be a registry item. Honestly, it's a fraction of the cost of buying all the toys new, plus, most services have an option to buy the toys if a child gets particularly attached.

제 주관 100일전까지 뽕뽑는(엄마에게 힐링을 주는) 필수템은 1. 기저귀갈이대(소베맘 등) 2. 타이니모빌 3. 역류방지쿠션(제이앤제나) 4. 하이체어 뉴본+베이비세트(스토케 트립트랩, 스토케 노미) 였었어요~~!! 이 네개는 아묻따 꼭꼭 준비하시길 추천드려요!! 엄마 허리 + 밥시간 지킴이❤ 카시트는 무조건 있어야해요! 안전안전! 신생아일때도 병원 검진등으로 외출할 일이 의외로 많답니다. 욕조는 스토케 욕조도 유명하고 슈너글도 유명해요. 근데 신생아일때 슈너글은 좀 불편했고, 오히려 다이소에서 파는 큰대야?가 편했어요ㅋㅋㅋ 거품용, 헹굼용 두개 쓰구요~ 가비님이 많이 알아보셨네요~ 저기있는것들 다 필요합니다ㅋㅋ 심지어 애바애인 것도 많아서ㅋㅋ 첨에 잘못 선택하면 쪽쪽이도, 젖병 등도 유목민이 되어.. 애기한테 맞는거 찾을때까지 계속계속 살수밖에 없어요...ㅠㅠ 홈캠도 거실, 아기방 최소두개.. 육아용품 끝이없어서 한국에선 당근 중고거래를 많이 사용하는데(어차피 신생아용품은 길어야 100일을 넘지 않거든요!) 영국엔 당근은 없나요?ㅠㅠ 젖병소독기(유팡), 분유포트(릴리브, 보르르)도 꼭꼭 있어야해요!! 유축기는 구매보다 대여 먼저 해보시는게 좋을것 같아요. 모유수유를 못하게 되는 경우도 있기때문에ㅠㅠ 아기낳은 후 상황을 보고 사는걸 추천드릴께요.. 생각보다 모유수유의 길이 험난하답니다😢 + 메델라 유축기가 유명한 이유는 가격이 사악하지만 안아프고 진짜 부드럽게 유축이 됩니닷!
I got most things second hand because some stuff you eventually won't need it. My kid, 11 months, didn't use a pacifier at all. We didn't use any baby monitor because it's not needed for us. For a pushchair, we used Joie as well. However, if you get those with bigger wheels, it will be better on all terrains as smaller wheels are better use in cities terrain. We used the snuzpod and it was great and easy, but got it secondhand. Bibs, muslin, wash cloths, and water wet wipes are like a must as they are so handy! For newborns, probably you need to get a lot of cotton pad for cleaning the baby first. Hopefully this is helpful.
You don’t want to be apart from your baby! I don’t know anyone who didn’t have the baby right next to them all the time! The cots always get ignored lol

유축기는 바로 사지말라고 들었어요~ 엄마마다 모유가 안나올수도 있고, 나와도 아주 적게 나올수도 있기때문에 유축기는 젖 나오는거 보고 사도 늦지않는다고 들었던거 같아요 어차피 애를 낳자마자 모유가 나오는게 아니라해서 😂😂 암튼 저는 미혼에 애기도 없는지라 암걸도 모르지만 조쉬님 ㅋㅋㅋ 귀여울 정도로 암것도 모르시네요! ㅋㅋㅋ 너무 행복한 영상이었어요~ 항상 건강하고 행복하길 기도드립니다 ㅎ

Josh being sidetracked with electronics and Lego is pretty funny. Buy the baby clothes, mitts, wash cloths, bibs, blankets(cotton) in Korea. The selection is vast, better quality and probably more affordable. Babies outgrow their clothes so fast. Have fun shopping! Can't wait to see the nursery.

So cute. From experience a changing table is definitely something that is NOT necessary because you end up just changing nappies wherever you are. So I would advise a simple changing mat is more efficient and useful
We love our changing table we got from IKEA. But our house is small and it's easy enough to take him to the change table every time. Too risky to change him elsewhere because of how often he makes messes lol

Pushchair advice. Find one you like that is light enough to move yourself + shopping and baby. Then how small it folds and you can fit it in your car and house. Also look for if it has a build car seat can attach to the car too. But your first push chair only good for 6-9mounrhs then you need more regular baby size one so don’t spend too much at the start.
Yeah. Look for a stroller/pram you can lift and also open & close on your own. One that fits in your car. Strollers/prams are pricey, so look for one that transitions from newborn all the way through toddlerhood. Also one that the infant car seat attaches to. The LAST thing you want is for your infant to be asleep in their car seat and you have to wake them up to move them to a stroller!

Diaper bin -> diaper genie 쓰는데 괜찮아요! 5. 베이비모니터- 핸드폰 말고 다른 스크린으로 볼 수 있는걸 원해서 Hello baby monitor 사용해요 6. 역방쿠- 전 없었지만 한국가서 사용하고 진짜 뉴본때 있었으면 한 아이템이에요 옷은 선물 엄청 들어와서 안사도 되구요 나머지는 아기 태어나고 성향에 맞춰서 사면 되요. 병원에 있는동안 아기 분유, 기저귀 그리고 유축기도 사용할수 있고 주문하면 하루만에 오니까 미리 안사놔도 돼요. 특히 기저귀는 아기 태어날때까지 사이즈 잘 모르니 많이 사두지 마시구요 ㅎㅎ 저도 난임이었어서 가비님 영상 많이 봤는데 드디어 이쁜 아기가 찾아와서 너무 축하드려요! 남은기간 수고하시고 순산하시길 바래요 ❤

The bedside crib is a great idea. Then onesie night gowns , nappie bin extra sheets. Then take pictures of things you think you want and decide later. I had sooooo many things I never needed or used second hand is also helpful. Soooooo excited for you… just remember to have fun

Going simple is the way to go .Forget all the expensive things that have all the bells and swivels , nobs and zippers extra . Talk to the older mums as they will have used and reviewed lots of the things that you will need . And can tell you what was needed and what was not needed /the must haves and the thing you don't need but though you did .
Baby stroller - Get one that is really lightweight, compact and easily foldable. Mine is around 7.4kg and can be folded by just pressing on a button. It really helps especially when you are out with a lot of baby stuff. Bottle sterilizer - Optional but really convenient if you have it. Most of them in the market has the drying function too. Car seat - It is a must. Get one that can be rotated 360 degrees. Baby needs to be seated facing backwards as it is safer that way. Changing table - Don't think you will really need that. It just takes up too much space unnecessarily. Baby monitor - Don't need that as well unless your baby is sleeping in a separate room (which I think is not advisable for newborn)

As a mom of 2, both grown now, the first thing I would buy would be the car seat and then go down your list. It’s so easy to become overwhelmed by what you need and our options available. What worked for me was I made a list, picked the first then and shopped just for that and so on down the list. Really cut down on anxiety and stress. My sister and I have been watching you and Jolly as well, love you guys! Josh and you are such a sweet couple, glad your morning sickness is over❤

As a midwife, I feel I should share some of my experience…😂😂🤷♂️
Don’t spend a lot of money on the baby bath that goes inside the bathtub - you only use it for a few months until baby can sit up unaided, then you get another thing that allows the baby to sit in a regular bathtub without falling over or slipping around.
Buy a great quality car seat as that will protect your baby from being hurt should you get in a fender bender, plus babies spend a bit of time in them even at home, they are great when you start introducing solids and have to keep baby still while trying to feed them with a spoon (you only need a high chair from about 9-12 months), and then you get a bigger car seat when they reach a certain weight and height.
The crib that attaches to the bed is great for the first few months and you will be feeding a bit during the night and anything that makes life easier and gives you more sleep is to be treasured.
A good, easy to use breast pump is essential if you are planning on breast feeding. But you can get a microwave bottle steriliser which is much cheaper and works just as well as the electric sterilisers - you only sterilise bottles until the baby is 12 months old so don’t spend a huge amount on it. Also, depending on how you feel about this, it makes life easier later if once breast feeding is properly established, you introduce a bottle with breast milk in it so they get used to how to drink from it - this allows others to help with feeding as you can freeze your breast milk ahead of time, then Josh can do a night feed, or your mum can, your mum in law can baby sit etc. being exclusively on breast milk is great, but exclusively breast feeding can be a little restrictive unless your baby also takes some breast milk from a bottle (just something to think about for when they are a couple months old).
Many people see a buggy/pram as a status symbol and they go for the super-expensive brands, but really you don’t need anything fancy - check if you can collapse/fold it and open it up with one hand as if you are alone and carrying your child, you may have to do that, also make sure baby can lay down to sleep as well as being able to sit up to look around - that’s it for buggies.
Also, when you do your registry, mark a range of different ages/sizes for clothing as you will never use as much newborn things as you think you will, and people like to buy gifts. Get a range of different blankets too - thin ones and thicker ones. Great rule is to dress baby as you are comfortable yourself, if you think there may be a little chill, add a light blanket, but mostly they should be dressed as we do - if it’s hot, a nappy and a vest is fine - babies can’t regulate their own temperatures like we can, so they overheat or get cold easily - be aware of both issues. Get lots of cloths for spit-up (it’s called positing when the baby regurgitates a little milk), cos they do that a lot - also the nappy bin is a great thing to have as dirty nappies REALLY stink. Buy lots of disposable nappies too, in a variety of sizes as babies grow quite quickly. The easiest way to keep your baby’s nails short is to bite them or file them gently (baby-nails are very soft, but tricky to trim), and those mittens I see so many British babies wearing are not necessary if you keep their nails trimmed, and in fact, I don’t like them - babies use touch to explore their world and to learn about objects they see, but if they are wearing mittens they can feel anything.

Enough to use a few muslins a day if need be. Throw over the shoulder or just for general dribble wiping. Loads of bibs too, if baby is a dribbler. My niece used to go through so many a day. She was such a drooly baby 😂
Also I think Tommee Tippee do the bottle maker thing. Does the water for the set amount if baby is bottle fed. My friend had two of them. One in the bedroom for night bottles and the other downstairs. Way better than using the kettle and then doing the wrist test and waiting for it to cool in its bowl of cold water 😅😂
A lot of practical advice
Babies need to build up their immunities early. Sterilisation isn't as good a thing as it's hyped up to be. Washing bottles in hot soapy water and dried thoroughly is all that is needed. Too many children were brought up with Sterilisation everything and have a higher rate of allergies and food intolerance. Many generations of baby boomers can attest to being reared this way and surviving just fine!

As a mum of soon to be 4, this is some great advice. Regarding mittens, if you have to cover their hands due to scratching, just use another pair of socks. They tend to be longer and stay on better 🙂 my 2nd born had mild to moderate eczema on his cheeks and putting socks on his hands prevented him from scratching til his poor cheeks were raw and bleeding 😢

Okay, as a Mom with 5 y.o boy now, what I've learned is that babies especially new born out grows their clothes so fast. And for the other, I think what you need is
- DIAPERS!
- clothes (includes jacket, socks, and mittens(?))
- bottles
- breast pump
- napkins
- adjustable cribs (so you can use it till 6 months+)
- adjustable stroller + car seat
- baby carrier

Happy to see your excitement!! But trust me after having five, I did the same with my first and I soonly realised that you don't need most of the things we buy for our first. A crib, diapers need to be stock piled , a good pram and car seat, clothes obviously but the little ones grow so quickly so try buy little and up 3 sizes. Gabby a good wrap to keep little baby Carrot close while you get things done. My best bit of advice is sleeeeep as much as you can now my love 💕

Agree with you. It is so hard to know what your little one will adjust to. Will they be swaddle lovers or space lovers. Ours (now a teen!?) didnt care much for the little crib and ended up in his cot fairly early - loved the space.
I hated being told to sleep while I was pregnant. 1. I was uncomfortable at the end and 2. You can't store it up 😅

As a new mum for a few months, my Top 10:
#1 Pram - choose something sturdy as a wheelbarrow with mid size wheels and good storage underneath. It will get thrown about a lot. Even the heavier ones aren't that heavy. Get good suspension on it. It's surprising how rough pavements and park paths are. Silvercross is exceptional (buy ex-display models for discount) and the top can be used as a travel cot for 6mths. Really helpful.
#2 Car seat - may be part of a travel system package with your pram. Doesn't need to be fancy but definitely comfortable. Get the isofix base for great safety. Don't worry about it turning on the base. You don't need to get the same brand as your pram. You can get universal quick-release adapter clips that let you put any brand car seat on your pram base.
#3 Crib - moses baskets are too small. The 'next to me' style with the drop down side is great. Easily soothe baby without having to get up. Snuzpod is fab - the top comes off to use around the house.
#4 Blankets and sleeping bag - have several blankets to hand for the pram, cat seat, crib, holding them in the lounge. Babies need to be kept warm (warmer than most "How to dress your baby" recommendations) for the first 12 weeks. Sleeping bags are great if you're not swaddling.
#5 Bouncer - can get second hand. Make sure the seat is long (some small ones mean baby's heels are kicking the frame edge very quickly). So handy for putting them down when the floor isn't practical and when they want to watch you.
#6 - Sling/carrier - with a tiny baby it's less essential as you'll be wanting to sit a lot to recover and not trying to do lots of things (recovery takes longer than anyone lets on). But as they get older and want to watch everything it's super helpful. Preference is personal so try some at your local sling library. Get second hand (see octopus club for quality stuff). I used a wrap first then the ergobaby 360 for more positions for baby.
#6 - Nappy caddy and bag - keep all your items in a little fabric caddy or a basket for changing them anywhere in the house. A changing table is nice, but not necessary. The floor and a changing mat works great. Aldi nappies are the best disposables. And a changing bag to fit your stuff in when out and about. A rucksack style keeps you hands free. Some will clip to your pram handle which is amazing.
#8 Clothes - buy cheap. They grow out of everything within 2 weeks. Literally. Get second hand. 8-10 vests and 8-10 onesies plus three jumpers of newborn, 0-3 and 3-6 sizes each will be enough for 5 months. You'll do washing every day from here on in. There's huge variance in sizes between brands. (Also get 10 muslins. You'll need them all after a few weeks.)
#9 Napisan - take the stains out of everything, even white clothes, with an overnight soak. Also great if they get thrush or a bug as this will kill the bacteria on all their stuff in the wash. Every nappy is a poopy nappy for the first couple of months. Poonamis happen on a constant basis.
#10 Nipple care - Lasinoh beats other brands for effectiveness and quality. Get a lot of reusable breast pads. Like 20 pairs. Buy lanolin nipple cream!!
So much stuff is unnecessary or not needed immediately. Baby will be with you or a trusted carer 24/7 for the first 4 months so a monitor isn't essential yet. Baby gym is great from 3 months. A baby bath is super helpful but not necessary. Toys are great but anything can be a toy. Your house is full of crinkly bags, water, rattly containers, books etc. At 3 months buy a matchstick monkey teether. I didn't pump (seems like a lot of hassle!) so can't advise there.
Your baby will hate everything for the first few weeks - their crib, the pram, the sling, the bouncer, baths, nappy changes, clothes, burping...- everything is new and overwhelming.
Learn how to bed share safely from the lullaby trust. This is a godsend. Don't pay to much attention to the fear mongering from the NHS. Your baby hates being apart from you for long and may only sleep if they're on you for the first few weeks. This will change after 4-6 weeks naturally. But bedsharing and cosleeping when needed make it possible for you to sleep for recovery too!
Yes yes yes to everything 😍 This was the comment I was looking for. My first SCREAMED every time we put him down to do a nappy change after we came home from the hospital 😮 we learned to sing a lullaby while changing him worked, but took some trial and error. As with everything when you have a child. They don’t come with instructions and there is no ‘one fits all’.
I would also recommend trying to pack the buggy in the trunk of your car before buying it.

저도 영국에 사는 아들 둘 맘입니다. 저는 여기서 거의 대부분을 세컨헨드로 샀어요. 애기들은 빨리 커서 그닥 비싼게 필요없거든요. 세컨헨드 중에 컨디션 좋은 것도 많이 있답니다. 내 친구는 아주 비싸고 좋은 브랜드의 유모차를 값싼 가격에 구매하기도 했죠. 먼저 병원에서 부터 나올때 부터 필요한 것부터 말씀 드릴께요
1. 카시트
2. 아기침대( 전 모유수유를 해서 아기랑 계속 같이 잤습니다. 그래서 별로 필요는 없었지만 그래도 좀 편하게 잘려면 필요하답니다)
3. 아기옷(턱받침), nappy, 물티슈, Sudo cream(for nappy rashes): 이건 병원에서 임산부 팩으로 해서 조그마한 거 넣어줄겁니다. 손수건, 파우더, 로션 등등
4. 아기 담요(겨울용, 여름용) 여기 여름은 좀 쌀쌀하니 약간 두터워도 괜찮을 것 같네요
5. 아기 bath tub, 아기용 물비누 등등
6. Calpol syrup( 아기 열나면 먹여야 해요) 근데 아주 아기일땐 좌약이 편하답니다. 여기선 좌약보다 Calpol을 더 먹이죠. 우선 비상시에 먹여야 하니깐 준비해두세요
7. Thermometer( 아기 열 잴때 생깁니다. 준비해두세요)
8. Baby changing Mat, Nappy bin
9. 젓병, 분유(모유수유가 안나오거나 둘다 하고 싶을 땐 준비하세요), 젓병 소독기
10. 모유펌프(모유가 잘 나오면 필요가 있겠지만 잘 나오지 않으면 펌프가 별로필요가 없습니다. 전 모유가 엄청 나왔는데도 펌프로는 잘 안나오더라구요, 그래서 전 안쓰고 밖에 다닐땐 분유 집에서는 모유로 먹였습니다. 아이마다 다 다르지만 분유를 먹게되면 모유를 안 먹는 수가 있으니 주의하세요)
11. 유모차
가비씨가 말한 모든 것들이 있으면 편하죠. 우선 급한 건 이런 것 부터 사고 나머진 아기 들이고 나서 사셔도 괜찮아요.

마자요. 아기 태어나기전에 사놓는거 피추요. 일단 지내보고 필요하다고 본인이 느낄때 사는게 더 나아요. 아기 침대 살때는 옆에 레일이 열리지 않는것으로. 아기 끼임 사고가 날 수 있어서요.
애셋 맘으로 좀 보태자면 기저귀쓰레기통 같은건 정말 필요없구요~~ ㅎㅎㅎ 위의 분이 말씀하신 기본부터 일단 구매하시고 키우면서 필요하신거 하나씩 사면 좋을 것 같아요~ 전 세컨핸드도 샀지만 중요한건 새걸로 사서 깨끗하게 쓰고 중고로 팔기도 했어요~

다 못 사용하고 버리거나 다른 사람에게 다 주게 되더라구요! 요즘은 분유 타주는 기계 있더라구요! 그거 있으면 좋을거 같아요! 신생아들은 4시간 간격으로 수유를 하잖아요! 새벽시간대에 도움 되실거 같아요! 저는 분유타주는 기계 없이 키우다보니 잠을 편안하게 자지 못해서 낮에 활동하는데 힘들더라구요
선물로도 많이 들어오고 주위 애 키우는 분들 육아용품 나눔도 많이 하고 하니까
미리 다 사지 말고 그때그때 필요한 것만 사는 걸 저도 추천합니다

Josh has expressed how obsessed he can get with preparing, thankfully. He was apparently researching dog care for months before they got Brie. He also seems very supportive and eager to be equal partners, so I doubt Gabie will ever need to feel alone ❤️

So happy for you both! It definitely looked super overwhelming, but from experience, you don't need everything that is marketed for babies. As a nanny who has worked in different households and seen many brands, I have a few things I recommend.
1. To me, the Stokke highchair is a great investment. It grows with your child and will still seat them when they are 10 years old. I used mine until I was about 8 years old.
2. Definitely get a baby bath of some sort: it's a hassle to fill a whole tub for a baby, and just using the sink can be tricky as they are pretty slippery. You can get a folding one (Stokke) to save space, or use some hacks (like just a foam pad in water to keep the baby from slipping).
3. A good car seat is a must! Yes, the 360 swivel can seem unneeded, but I have woken far too many babies trying to get them out of the car seat and into the house. If it's in the budget, and you will be driving frequently, I would recommend it. With systems like the MaxiCosi you can generally also find bases that will work as the child grows older. Look into if you really want the baby seat (which has the function of being able to detach and be put on the stroller), or if you'd rather get a bigger seat upfront which will last the first 4 years, but which won't attach to a stroller. Really depends on your lifestyle. I'm not sure if it is available in the UK, but Nuna is also a great brand.
4. Choose a stroller with good functionality. I always appreciated families that had strollers which transitioned into different modes (seat attachments) because I could adapt easily as the child grew. Good wheels are also a must (although all strollers that have seating option changes typically have good wheels). I like the bugaboo and the Nuna strollers (of the ones I have used), but have seen great reviews for the Joie as well.
5. Yes, get a diaper bin. It saves the nursery from smelling terrible.
6. Kids outgrow their first clothes really fast. If you can get into a second hand “circle” (where clothes are passed down in a set of families who have children about 3 months apart in age) then that is a great way to get through the first 12 months at least.
7. Baby carriers are amazing and come in all different styles. I would suggest looking up a shop or person specializing in baby wearing. They will generally offer consultations and training so you can find what works best for you and learn how to use it before the baby arrives. Structured carriers are great, for example, but some only work for front carrying rather than both front and back (once the child is old enough). Wrap cloths are versatile, but have a steeper learning curve.
8. For bottles, I recommend the Comotomo silicone bottles. Out of all the brands I have used, I find them to be the most versatile and easy to clean. I've also used them transitioning children from breast to bottle. Honestly though, in terms of feeding functionality I find most bottles to be the same (apart from ones made specifically for slower feeding), it's really a style and material preference.
9. Consider using a toy subscription service like Lovery. There are also toy subscription rental services. This is useful because what very young children need/can do changes rapidly, and so it can be nice to have a simple, small selection that comes along as they are developing.
10. Invest in a diaper bag that is functional for you. It doesn't have to be expensive, but having a well-structured bag, that has enough pockets, and will fit your needs will make going out much easier. There is nothing worse in my opinion than having a small child and needing to scramble and grab 3 bags just to take diapers, snacks, and toys. It's easier if it all fits in one place.
I'm probably forgetting something, but off the top of my head, when I think about caring for a newborn, these are the things that made my job easier. All of this is just my opinion, of course, and there are no real rules when it comes to what to purchase and how much: it's all a matter of preference!

These are a great recommendations! We're on kid #2 and everything you mentioned is great. Also, the bedside bassinet that was shown is GREAT! So much easier to use if you're going to have baby in the room with you.
Additionally, I've gotten a lot of things second-hand. A lot of times, with kids stuff, things go almost unused. Sometimes you have to try multiple options to find what works, so then you can get items almost brand new for a fraction of the price. Just like with weddings, there's a TON of things marketed to parents and a lot of it is unnecessary. Talk to other parents, look at websites, see what would work, and know that you'll probably buy a bunch of stuff you don't need. 😅
@@lizetteolsen3218 It's really great! I actually gifted it to a family member for their first child, so it could even be a registry item. Honestly, it's a fraction of the cost of buying all the toys new, plus, most services have an option to buy the toys if a child gets particularly attached.

전 애가 둘인데 애마다 다르더라구여. 첫째는 토를 엄청 하는 아이라 손수건을 많이 썼는데 둘째는 거의 안해서 30개도 남아 돌아요. 최소로 사두고 필요 하면 늘리는 것도 방법 같아요~!

제이앤제나 역방쿠는 아기가10개월인데 아직도 역방쿠에 눕혀서 수유해요 ㅋㅋㅋ 다리랑 발이 밖으로 다 튀어나오지만 아기가 편해해서요 😂😂타이니모빌도 아기 어릴땐 모빌침대에 고정해서 틀어놓으면 길게는 한시간도 보더라구요 ㅎㅎㅎ 진짜 강추템이네요 !

I got most things second hand because some stuff you eventually won't need it. My kid, 11 months, didn't use a pacifier at all. We didn't use any baby monitor because it's not needed for us. For a pushchair, we used Joie as well. However, if you get those with bigger wheels, it will be better on all terrains as smaller wheels are better use in cities terrain. We used the snuzpod and it was great and easy, but got it secondhand. Bibs, muslin, wash cloths, and water wet wipes are like a must as they are so handy! For newborns, probably you need to get a lot of cotton pad for cleaning the baby first. Hopefully this is helpful.
baby monitors are easily hackable and people don't realise how vulnerable it is to creeps.
Aldi do the large cotton pads in the baby section. Biodegradable and not expensive. I love them for skin care

My heart is so full to see you and Josh start this journey. The questions, the overwhelming feeling, being lost. I know it's might not be fun for some. And I know there's a very high chance that I won't get to experience for so many reasons but I hope you know that so many people are happy and standing behind you for you and Josh.
Josh being sidetracked with electronics and Lego is pretty funny. Buy the baby clothes, mitts, wash cloths, bibs, blankets(cotton) in Korea. The selection is vast, better quality and probably more affordable. Babies outgrow their clothes so fast. Have fun shopping! Can't wait to see the nursery.

So cute. From experience a changing table is definitely something that is NOT necessary because you end up just changing nappies wherever you are. So I would advise a simple changing mat is more efficient and useful
defenitly! and storing the baby changing stuff, can be in a box or where you have free space in drawers ect.

We love our changing table we got from IKEA. But our house is small and it's easy enough to take him to the change table every time. Too risky to change him elsewhere because of how often he makes messes lol

Find one you like that is light enough to move yourself + shopping and baby.
Then how small it folds and you can fit it in your car and house.

Yeah. Look for a stroller/pram you can lift and also open & close on your own. One that fits in your car. Strollers/prams are pricey, so look for one that transitions from newborn all the way through toddlerhood. Also one that the infant car seat attaches to. The LAST thing you want is for your infant to be asleep in their car seat and you have to wake them up to move them to a stroller!
진짜 아기마다 그리고 부모의 성향마다 필요한게 달라져요~ 저도 지금 8개월 아기 키우고 있는데 임신했을때 너무 많은 정보에 정신 없었는데요 지금은 신생아 시기에 필요한것만 사고 나머지는 아기 태어나고 아마존이나 이런데로 주문해도 늦지 않아요. 저도 레지스트리로 너무 많은 선물과 물려받은것들로 아기방이 태어나기도 전에 포화가 됐는데요
주관적으로 꼭 필요한것들은
1. 카시트 ( 조쉬님 이건 가비님말대로 법적 필수에요 ㅠ 전 캐나다 사는데 여긴 병원에서 카시트 체크하고 퇴원시켜줘요)
2. 크립/바시넷- 저흰 둘다사서 바시넷 방에두고 몇일 썼는데 아기 조그만 소리에도 깨고 너무 수면의 질이 떨어져서 생후 일주일인가부터 분리수면 했어요.
3. 기저귀 갈이대- 허리보호를 위해 필수
4. 기저귀 쓰레기통? Diaper bin -> diaper genie 쓰는데 괜찮아요!
5. 베이비모니터- 핸드폰 말고 다른 스크린으로 볼 수 있는걸 원해서 Hello baby monitor 사용해요
6. 역방쿠- 전 없었지만 한국가서 사용하고 진짜 뉴본때 있었으면 한 아이템이에요
옷은 선물 엄청 들어와서 안사도 되구요 나머지는 아기 태어나고 성향에 맞춰서 사면 되요. 병원에 있는동안 아기 분유, 기저귀 그리고 유축기도 사용할수 있고 주문하면 하루만에 오니까 미리 안사놔도 돼요. 특히 기저귀는 아기 태어날때까지 사이즈 잘 모르니 많이 사두지 마시구요 ㅎㅎ
저도 난임이었어서 가비님 영상 많이 봤는데 드디어 이쁜 아기가 찾아와서 너무 축하드려요! 남은기간 수고하시고 순산하시길 바래요 ❤

애바애가 심해서 한국에서 가격이 있는 것들은 중고거래 당근으로 많이 구매해서 사용해보고 결정하기도 해요! 영국에서도 육아용품 중고거래가 많으면 좋을텐데ㅠㅠ 아가들이 금방 쑥 커서 너무 비싼 용품을 사기에는 돈이 아까운 경우가 많았어요! 가성비 있는 제품들을 사용하는게 제일 좋은 것 같아요!

The bedside crib is a great idea. Then onesie night gowns , nappie bin extra sheets. Then take pictures of things you think you want and decide later. I had sooooo many things I never needed or used second hand is also helpful. Soooooo excited for you… just remember to have fun

1. 유모차는 부가부 Fox라인, Joolz Geo, Cybex 추천 / 설명: 유아차는 일상과 굉장히 관련이 커요. 우리나라 처럼 포장형 도로가 많고, 차로 이동이 많다면, 큰 디럭스 유아차(부가부 폭스라인)같은건 생각보다 휴대하기에 거추장스럽다고 느끼실꺼구요, 주로 차로 다니지만, 가끔 공원정도는 산책간다 싶으면 절충형(Cybex) 이나 아예 휴대용(Joolz Aer+)을 baby bassinet추가로 많이 쓰시는 것 같아요.
저는 유럽에서 살고있어서, 울퉁불퉁한 돌 바닥이 많은 올드타운이 집근처에 많고, 차가 없어서, Bugaboo Fox2를 중고로 사서 썼어요. 좋아요! 아기가 2살이 되어가는 지금까지 만족이에요!

6. 아이가 토하거나 침흘리거나 할때, 닦아주는 손수건 뿐 아니라, 엄마 아빠의 어깨위에 올려 옷을 보호하기 위한 큰 손수건(여기서는 cloth라고 판매)이 진짜 찐입니다...필수에요.ㅋㅋㅋ 준비할게 많지만, 즐거운 쇼핑..되세요 ㅎㅎ

Going simple is the way to go .Forget all the expensive things that have all the bells and swivels , nobs and zippers extra . Talk to the older mums as they will have used and reviewed lots of the things that you will need . And can tell you what was needed and what was not needed /the must haves and the thing you don't need but though you did .

Baby stroller - Get one that is really lightweight, compact and easily foldable. Mine is around 7.4kg and can be folded by just pressing on a button. It really helps especially when you are out with a lot of baby stuff.
Bottle sterilizer - Optional but really convenient if you have it. Most of them in the market has the drying function too.
Car seat - It is a must. Get one that can be rotated 360 degrees. Baby needs to be seated facing backwards as it is safer that way.
Changing table - Don't think you will really need that. It just takes up too much space unnecessarily.
Baby monitor - Don't need that as well unless your baby is sleeping in a separate room (which I think is not advisable for newborn)

As a mom of 2, both grown now, the first thing I would buy would be the car seat and then go down your list. It’s so easy to become overwhelmed by what you need and our options available. What worked for me was I made a list, picked the first then and shopped just for that and so on down the list. Really cut down on anxiety and stress. My sister and I have been watching you and Jolly as well, love you guys! Josh and you are such a sweet couple, glad your morning sickness is over❤
