Ethan Coronado .......that are charged by electricity, even if he buys them from store (I doubt it because he uses a LOT of batteries) he would either have to buy new ones (a lot of money) or recharges them (increases electricity bill). A suggestion
Make the protosaber such that it would fit inside the tilt like a naval telescope does, so you could heat the rod while it is inside and make a mechanism so that it would come outside on the push of a button, and since it is already heated, the rod would come out being red hot, that way you practically have a real lightsaber that you can carry in your pocket

I wondet if this was one of the steps the ancient Jedi on Tython went to the modern ligtsaber. From metal blades infused with the Force, to blades powered by electricity, to the Legends protosaber that used plasma.
Idea I had after watching this and some furniture videos, there was a couple different collapsible table and other such things that enabled the tabletop to extend beyond what the original form suggested. I am not 100% on how theu did it, but I do remember the person in the video mentioning that the wood or whatever it was being made in a structure that let it collapse in on itself but retain its stability. Looking at that and now this, perhaps if the two could merge we would actually have a lightsaber with a blade that collapsed.

For some reason, I doubt it's effectiveness as anything but an intimidation ploy... Then again, you could see the styrofoam head actually bent the hot blade so, you could prob use it as a flail. Like that Russian iron man villian. I couldn't imagine having to counter a nearly molten metal whip without horrific burns / electrocution being a very real possibility.
