This is the best thing I've ever seen.
The story in this video is so cool. When we're broken and bruised, at our most self-destructive, we need friends who pick us up with no judgement, help us get back on your feet, and get right back in the saddle with us. I think the car wash was a physical metaphor for how our friends help us process and cleanse ourselves of all negative and bad emotions that come with certain stages of life, and hopefully help us emerge feeling better and stronger than ever.
Best part was how her sisters cleaned her make up and helped dressing her up. That's my fave part of the video and of the song.

Why is she in a bar before her daytime job having a morning drink while wearing the clothes from last nights hot date because she hadn't changed because she did not go home? Whatever the song is about the video is about her seeing a guy she is both attracted and repelled by and trying to make up her mind because things are not going the way she planned for her next relationship . In particular the line slow part says "it took me so long to fall, then says but now I'm in it". I know that in wikipedia she claims it is about having 2 sides of her personality that clash. That may be true as well but It is only part of the story. More than likely it is an autobiographical song abot the beginning of her Relationship with Ariel Rechtshaid her live in boyfriend Who she wrote the song Summer Girl for. But if the song is autobiographical she can't say that because He might not have seen how conflicted she was early on and feel hurt. That said the videos ending shows her and her sisters going into a bar and sitting down Separately. The other sisters have their boyfriends show immediately. She sits down on the end where there is a seat on each side of her downs a drink to prepare for the night and then who should sit down next to Danielle but Arielle Rechtshaid. The video clearly shows her being conflicted but realizing she has found a decent guy and choosing to continue seeing him. She may have a parallel conflict in her own life but the video seems clear. The Words imply all of this but the middle part where she collapses and her sisters take care of her is a toching showing of sisterhood. But in the end it is still her life she lives. Take out the slow part and it might not be about romance. But it took so long for her to fall and what is she in. Maybe not love yet but definitely a relationship, maybe love later. I've answered this before but tried to answer too quickly. And above I don't explain why I think it is about a romance but I have here. I could say more but I don't like to beat dead horses.

This has to be one of the most well written songs of this era. So much to it. The Haim sisters have seen a lot and they can orchestrate it back to us. Maybe I'm misinterpreting it but I feel this has many meanings behind it. Keep creating these beautiful songs and videos.
As someone that suffers from clinical depression and anxiety and having people constantly telling me to change my mindset as if it was an on and off switch, this song speaks to me on so many levels. I'm currently going thru a divorce (6.5 years of emotional abuse) and attempted to take my own life this summer. It's been a rough journey getting myself out of these dark times, but this song gives me so much hope. Every time I hear her say "and the rain keeps coming down along the ceiling" I tear up, I just hear the pain in her voice. Thank you so much HAIM! You don't need a man in your life to make you happy! : )

First I'm sorry about your marriage because I'm sure it started with love or the hope of it. That said the video ends with each of them meeting a man. It is not a declaration of Independence in song . Though in my humble opinion they don't need to . They appear to be the type of women who can survive on their own but do not need to or want to. But they can if they have to. The middle part of the video shows the other 2 taking care of a smitten but conflicted Danielle . She is feeling conflicting emotions that get the better of her from time to time Which most of us have been through and go through. I wish you well in your future endeavours.

It was their appearance in the Spring of 2013 on Letterman, complete with flirty banter, that put them on my radar, but yeah, the SNL performances later that year is what hooked me for good.
Saw them in concert in 2012; they were one of the bands that played during Mumford & Sons' festival tour. I've been hooked ever since.
I can finally listen to this song without crying throughout the whole song. Too many things happened within in the last year and a half. Two deaths 6 months apart, post partum depression, and severe constant pain that no doctor can find out what it is. 2020 is no better. This song speaks to me.
