Meeting at university for a class (or hell a friend of a friend at university). The challenging part are the confidence and getting to the level where you can actually be friends with them outside of the original context of meeting, which takes fishing out shared interests and can be awkward for many.
In essence: The difficulty of friends is not in the meeting of them so much as the development of that friendship.
