I am sitting in Bethlehem South Africa, by the bedside of my 96 year old mom. She is too weak to chew or talk and struggles to swallow.
I live far away and came because I was notified about her deterioration.
Yes she is old and weak but deserves that her dignity and quality of life be preserved until the end.
Family resent me for โcausing dramaโ to ensure she gets enough liquids etc.
We feed her water, juice and liquid sustenance with a syringe between feeds. She is too weak to have a feeding tube fitted - it should have been done earlier.
I can only imagine the discomfort that people like her may experience because of dehydration.
She always loved Chopin. My phone is next to her head on the pillow so that she can be soothed by Chopin while she is slowly passing.
Thank you for this collage. You mean more to her during the last days or hours (who knows which?) of her life than any words can say.
It is also soothing my crushed heart. May you be blessed.
I admire your strength. I think your mom, if she was able to speak, will be so thankful for your presence. Hoping for healing power, strength and peace will come your way and your mother. ๐๐ป
Don't let them kill your momma. May the Lord heal and strengthen her and may he bless you for your faithfulness.
I'm very sorry. It is difficult to work in nursing homes. I understand you. I don't know how you can cheer yourself up. But try to stay calm with your mom because she feels it. Stay with Mom, make these moments happy. Nothing more.

QUE LINDA REFLEXIรN
When I was a little girl, I hated Chopin's nocturnes and ballads. I thought he was depressed and sad in everything he composed, which thwarted my joie de vivre as a kid. Now that life has made me mature a bit more, I appreciate his work deeply and feel emotions I have never felt before. I believe he reveals a deeper side of our existence, by allowing us to transcend our pain.
Nocturnes are my fav.
I feel exactly the same
Nicely put,
I never understood Chopin the way I should have until I went through a period of love, pain, suffering and longing all the same time. 49 years old but better late than never I say ๐
My mother loved the "funeral march" and said the ending was like the leaves blowing over the grave. She loved Chopin and this did not depress her. She only heard the intentions of the composer. Miss you, mum.
Wow that's sad. Rip to her
I'm so sorry for your loss, may she rest in peace.

It's not structural, but instead it has many different flowing parts, repeating motifs, and changes that add to it's magical, dreamlike beauty. - A wistful classical music nerd

โAfter playing Chopin, I feel as if I had been weeping over sins that I had never committed, and mourning over tragedies that were not my own.โ
Oscar Wilde, 1891
great quote!
Yes Mr. Wilde! Chopin has a way of probing into my heart, and that discovers the new depth of emotions I haven't known before
"Beethoven always sounds like he's about to push someone off a cliff. And Chopin sounds like he's the one being pushed."
close the antennas that catch other people's problems
@รbermensch Who hasn't?
Go to Poland, go to the countryside, for example to Mazowsze, sit by the forest, play Chopin. Then you will understand Poland...
My favorite composer and pianist of all.
"the best of chopin"
Fools. All of Chopin is the best of Chopin.
:-)
@Kerry KE Hehe
fools is when 3h of hight quality music
There's so much love and yet a deep darkness in his music. No wonder he always liked to play the piano in the dark.
chirag Sethi So totally agree with you re: darkness in the music. To me there is a strong undercurrent of melancholy
@@Grandtrunk You are right in general, but have you listened to his faster etudes, mazurkas or polonaises? There is little - if any - melancholy in those...
He knew from a young age that he wouldn't live long. Maybe he was preparing himself for death.
Chopin was and will be the best pianist. simply the best
Here at Halidon we can't really pick a favourite but Chopin is definitely in our collective Top 3!
Chopin is absolutely my favorite composer. His Nocturnes are otherworldly. His Nocturne in C-sharp minor from his Opus Posthumous is one of my favorite pieces of all time to play
This specific piece has a climax where surrendering is the only option and gives me a sincere smile. It has something to do with anticipative embellishing tones piling up(theory 101)

I have been suffering from anxiety lately, and I was searching for calm music. Nothing helped. Randomly I searched for classical music one day, Beethoven showed up and then next in the line was Chopin nocturne, OP.9 No.2 E flat minor. Been listening to it since then, helped me with my anxiety. Music is powerfulโค๏ธ
Music is definitely one of the most powerful things in the world! We are so glad to hear that it helped you feel better โค
Listening to this entire mix, calming wouldn't be my first descriptor. Chopin gets awfully intense. Great for thinking though.
helping others is more powerful
classical piano is just beyond calm. its definition of harmony.
Anxiety ? Avoid Stravinsky !!!
guys.. now i'll tell you a story
yesterday it was raining( i very like the rain)so I made a cup of tea and stood by the window and put this video on ... it was wonderful
i like this story thank you for sharing

I didn't know that Something could provide me so peace... Then I listened to Chopin. This masterpiece calms my anxiety.
I've been listening to Chopin for 10 years now and every time is like the first. Chopin never gets boring and he's always a good choice. Always.
Whether work, studying, relaxing, dinner party, some kind of reception... You can't go wrong with Chopin.
Chopin's music is indeed the most romantic music I've ever heard among pianists.
In such a tiring, hectic world, it's just awesomely good to sit back and listen to gentleness and harmony in real music.
I cant stop listening it, it is brilliant! I cant believe there are no words but I seem to understand it completely . HE was a genius !
there is no better feeling than being in a dark room with this music on and raining outside..โค๐
Iโm doing this exact thing, but my two month old son is sleeping on my chest, and it is somehow even better.
The hands of this guy will be in a museum
I love โค๏ธ Chopin 's music ๐ถ ๐ต โค๏ธ! It is beautiful ๐!
Chopin is an a mazing Pianist !! love it all the way he just gesture the movements of h"es finger caressing the piano nice and gentle!!
This music brought me "home" to myself, to my heart and soul.
oh go home already
Sulaiman Mokhtar , I donโt understand why n how I assume, someone sensitive enough to listen to Chopin , would make such a callous comment.
This is music for the soul. Chopin's music was a gift from God through his majestic talent. Simply soothing and exquisite music for the ages.
Romantique, relaxant, propice aux souvenirs les plus tendres, voire les plus douloureux , mais qui nourrit notre ame et notre coeur
The variety of textures in the *luxdups* pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
Chopin may be the founder of modern music. His music sounds like it has just been made. He is really a genius.
I love how Starry Night became the standard for representing Chopinยดs music.
Chopin is my favorite classic music composer! Thank you for making this beautiful video!

Mozart and Chopin bid farewell to this world at a very young age, in their 30s, because the gods eagerly wished for them to play in the heavens.โค
My dad played this and I remember lying under the Steinway feeling the vibration and allowing the music to fill my ears and my soul. I will always love this piece. It was also used in the movie, The Turning Point as Leslie Brown bourree'd across the stage.
And here I am, in 2021, being touched to tears by the genius that lives for ever โฅ๏ธ
Im putting this music all time when im reading it's amazing!๐
When I hear in the news all the calamities around the world, how we are destroying this beautiful paradise we call earth, I get depressed, but then I listen to Chopin and I realize his music justifies the presence of humans on this earth.
A random woman at the music store: Are you more Mozart or Beethoven ?
Me: Excuse me, Iยดm just Chopinยด
Tomรกลก - Your joke made me laugh! I used to have a similar type of response (not as clever as yours though) when someone asked me a question about a totally different genre of music-
Q: So who do you love more- The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?
A: Led Zeppelin
True. Mozart's music is too light-hearted for me, Beethoven is just patterns but Chopin knew how to weave stories into his music though most of them are sad I think he is the best and totally different from other Musicians.
What a delightfully marvelous little story Tomas....

@lem snaej Underrated Comment.
I like how "the best of chopin" is 3 hours long
It must be longer, cuz all of Chopin is the best of Chopin
Apparently chopin only wrote like 18 hours of music, he got horribly sick and eventually died in his 30's
Then I'd like to spend my 18 hours listening to his soul.
"Best" is of course purely subjective. With composers at the level of Chopin, Beethoven et al, it is difficult to say what is "best". I am not sure that any of the great composers wrote any bad pieces, just some better than others.
Its actually not long enough โค
Whenever I listen to Chopins I feel sad, but it takes me yo my childhood 60 years ago and enjoy the evening and the silent messages I receive from the universe.

I'm literally obsessed, I don't even care if it's weird to listen to classical music 24/7, Chopin is such a legend
its not weird at all, the people who say it's weird just don't understand
I feel that way about everything. Chopin is awesome.
It's actually weird to listen to twerking retard trap garbage which most people do.
Its weird to listen to any other music. This is music.
