It's funny how as kids, we'd think stuff like "grown ups are better than us cuz they've lived longer, which obviously means they would've made more out of opportunities in life than we have, cuz we haven't lived that long yet". Cuz as a kid, your mind hasn't yet been exposed to the toxic reality.
The child's mind which only knows all the diverse opportunities/ways of achieving success + happiness, all nice things that life has to offer us. I mean for real, the worst fears kindergarteners have would be, losing teeth, monsters under bed, scary silhouettes in dark, etc. Not lack of self acceptance, failing in life, losing interest in everything, financial struggles, etc.
Not realizing the harsh sides of reality, it leads to not having the need to fight the negative aspects of life. Children are the personifications of "ignorance is bliss".
I don't know specifically how or when, but I went from "I'm going to be a scientist, whose hobby is fashion designing, who also rescues abandoned animals and helps everyone by being their life coach" to "I wish I could just love myself".
But hey, at least we aren't alone in this ride ["w"]

It's fascinating to me that so many creative people have mood disorder issues. More to the point, someone who contends with bipolar disorder and is able to do what Halsey has done...in all facets of her life...is astonishing to me. (My dad is a writer, and he's a warrior with his mental health issues, so I've seen this arena up close and personal.)

I've thought about killing myself a lot of times, and this song really hit me. It's me. I am really trying to love myself. it's a real struggle.

I have been in the same boat (currently in and out of depression). I always think of my family especially my mom. I love her to much to do anything extreme. ‘You have so much to live for. Don’t give up.’ This is what crosses my mind during the dark times when friends and family tell me. I hope this helps you. I do not know you but don’t give up. ❤️ I’ve been there in my dark times and I know how hard it can be but just don’t give up.
