Second time I had it 6-6 but GGG winning because of the knockdown. I think it depends a lot how you score the first and last round. But again that shows how good jacobs is. Would like to see him against charlo. I think jacobs beats him.

Then most impressive component of GGG's game is his jab. The more I rewatch his fights, the more I see how that punch is the glue that holds his offense together. His jab is an absolute masterclass.
Golovkin did pretty well for fighting an opponent who weighed 180 lbs.

Golovkin was 167 lbs and Danny Jacobs was 178 lbs (Jacobs rehydrated a whopping 18 lbs from 160!) He had a dozen pounds weight advantage on Golovkin, which is huge in boxing. Particularly in any fight under 200 lbs.

No one was exposed in this fight...good technical boxing match between two good boxers. As much as I bag on ggg for not fighting anyone, at this level of competition I never expected him to knock anyone out. Doesn't mean he's not a good boxer

GGG scored higher percentage jabs and power shots, was more consistent throughout the fight and scored a knock down, whilst weighing at least 12 pounds less. GGG won. No question.

This fight, and the comments the comments it generated, then and now, remind me that the MMA exists bc there are a lot of people who like seeing someone get hurt, but not a lot of people who like spending an hour or two watching boxing. This was a classy, engaging war between an all-time great and a tremendous fighter, two guys who are each impossible to dislike, in personality or in game, and they went at it with heart...the notion that someone sees this, and thinks the outcome speaks poorly of either fighter, is madness.
MMA is popular because the outcome is less subjective and easier to follow. MMA has 3 or 5 rounds rather than 12 rounds. There's fewer rounds to debate, fewer swing rounds. And more fights end in KO.
Dana constantly say "don't leave it in the hands of judges" so questionable decisions are thought of as more on the fighter - like they could have avoided it.

And I'd argue there is exponentially more debate, relative to action, in MMA than boxing - in lieu of subjective takes on the action, which as you say there is less of, they debate about moods, and social media, and vibes.
People can have fun however they like, but drama and debate are absolutely the fuel that makes the MMA engine go.

I scored it 6 rounds to each fighter but the knockdown made the difference.
Came back a month later trying to be more objective and more observant, I ignored the commentary and focused on Jacobs' style changes, punches landed rather than eye-catching punches landed, and ring generalship. I was expecting this to favor Jacobs and to have my score changed slightly in his favor but I came up with 115 - 112 for GGG.

This fight was easy for neither one. Jacobs had to do a lot to keep him at distance and honest but tripleG jabs was on point in the other hand tripleG couldn't find the rhythm he wanted because of Jacobs speed and the really educated footwork of Jacobs. Really really competitive fight I thought tripleGs jab and the knock down made a difference in this fight

Jacobs started catching up to GGG's points in the later half once GGG slowed on the gas pedal it was pretty close, I thought it was majority decision for GGG.
What a fight and huge respect to both.

1) GGG has a close fight: he's been exposed and got a gift decision and really lost the fight.
2) GGG obliterates his opponent in a KO: that guy was a bum GGG only fights bums.
3) GGG's opponent is disqualified for PEDs: it's GGG's fault.

Gennady Golovkin gets very little credit for just how good of a boxer he is!! These commentators create the narrative that if he doesn't knock they guy out that he almost automatically will lose. They give him very little credit for his actual boxing skills.....that jab is extremely sharp!

Very technical fight, now I know what to expect in the fight with Canelo.
That was in 2017, jacobs has a height and reach advantage and has improved his footwork since then, he can cover ground fast, canelo is a beast against boxers who are more stationary but we all saw what happened when put against someone with elite level footwork. Floyd destroyed him and shut down his offense easier than flippin a light switch. But jacobs has a suspect chin, doesnt keep composure like floyd and canelo is a nightmare striker wether to the body or head, he has that one shot power and high ring IQ

OK - I have heard quite a bit about this fight so decided to watch it in full - what did I see? #1. Golovkin is not sharp - he is tentative and fighting desperate looking for one shot but after 23 straight KOs you can kind of expect that he has become over-reliant on that #2. Jacobs looks sharp - has good movement and is proving hard to hit cleanly with combinations #3 Jacobs can take a shot #4 Jacobs is not really hurting GGG but is getting some respect #4 GGG is not able to put together combos off the jab and is trying to lead with the right too much too often and it is too obvious #5 Jacobs has good hand speed and is getting off some good combos to keep GGG off-balance - #6 if this is amateur fight you have to give the higher but lighter connects to Jacobs but GGG had the harder shots - OK so who wins? - word is that if you want to dethrone a Champ you have to do MORE than just confound him and win rounds - it is not likely you are going to win a SD over a Champ - you might win with a UD but it has to be quite dominant and you MUST have at least one knock down - obviously a KO is a KO - how did I see it - at best a DRAW - reality a SD for GGG - how so? - you give Jacobs 5 rounds - you give GGG 5 rounds - 1 round is undecided and 1 round goes to the Champ just for being the Champ - that makes it 6-5-1 for GGG - sure he looked poorly but every Champ can have an off-night and GGG had an off-night - Jacobs is a decent fighter but .... is he a Champ? - not fighting like this or this way - he is not going to win a championship on style or "finese" - this is not the amateur ranks Jacob's corner should have realized he has the BURDEN to leave no doubt in the Judge's minds - this was too close for Jacobs' to take the win and titles - a good scare for GGG and hopefully he bounces back against Canelo - I would not mind seeing a rematch of this fight but I do not think Jacobs can exceed what he did here and I think all GGG has to do it be GGG next time and this ends early - GGG looked impatient and pressed more than he threw - he needed to stand back a bit more and throw but whenever he did nothing was there - good job Jacobs to make 12 rounds but no I do not think you dethroned the Champ on this night - survival is NOT a victory when you fight a Champ
Jacobs is 2.5 inches taller, and was at least 10lbs heavier than Golovkin. Golovkin started brightly, but as the fight wore on Jacobs significant weight advantage started to show. I think that Golovkin became slightly more cautious as he could feel the effects of Jacobs size advantage in the later rounds.

I think Daniel Jacobs outweighs GGG by a considerable amount in this fight. Has more power and reach. He WANTED to win. He had the desire. To me this just shows how good GGG is. To contain a bigger arguably stronger man and not get knocked down is more than most of us making KRplus comments could ever do. Jacobs is world class and IMO he put up a better fight against GGG than Canelo did. I'd say this is more of a draw than Canelo vs GGG. I'd give this fight to Jacobs and I'm a GGG fan. I'd rather see Jacobs fight Canelo. GGG is slowing down some and fighting defensively isn't his style. My favorite boxer but I'd be happy if he retired. The younger lions are peaking and GGG's power is fading. Slowly but it is. The law of nature.

GGG won this fight. When I saw GGG-Canelo I, in my heart of hearts, I gave the fight to GGG. I gave the rematch to Canelo. Very eager to see Jacobs v Canelo. The Mexican sensation has been a favorite of mine for a while. This is gonna be close, but my soul is rooting for Jacobs to to emerge victorious, get a rematch with GGG, and hopefully win outright. Boxing Never Dies!
Love GGG. He's a true champion at heart. Pulled out the fight in the final round - like champions do. How? He came to his opponent and fought him - went for broke - pounding out the points, winning the round and thus the fight. So composed, confident and classy!
