When I was a young man, in the Army, I was stationed in S. Korea. First I learned about Soju, makali and ginju. Then I learned how to smack and slurp when I ate. Coming back stateside, i definitely got weird stares in restaurants when i came back, had to deprogram myself, lol. Love the vids! I loved my time there.

Didn't take long to revert back to my "civilized" table manners, however your comment shows that "table manners" don't equate to class. FYI, I lived with my ROK counterparts over there, but at least I respected their culture. I can't say the same for many of my fellow American's who were there, then they come home and complain people don't assimilate to our country's culture. A bit hypocritical, ain't it?
@@bruce2535josie manners are different in every nation. In some cultures, it's considered a sign of disrespect if you don't smack lips and slurp food, and in others, if you don't manage a decent belch, they believe it's because you didn't like the food.

@@jaygordon7613 Yes sir, that was my point as well. I loved my time there and was my first time as a young man outside the US. I learned a lot from my travels around this whole globe. One thing I learned, is that if I even tried to speak a few words, learn a little of the culture, and had basic respect to the host citizens, lots of barriers were broken and we both learned about each other.
An invaluable tool when dealing with people, intel, and even just basic respect for each other. It appears that concept is lost on many people. Hope you get a chance to go there, it's a wonderful place and great people!
