i know this video isn’t perfect but i really wanted to dive in and bring awareness to the toxic side of being launched into the music industry at such a young age, especially since this video was extremely requested.
unfortunately so many artists are treated like this and it’s horrible what famous people have to endure but once again i’m so happy the boys had each other and that they’re happy and successful.

i would say this is the dark side of boy bands, most boy bands are like that, i'm a fan of many kpop bands and my family has a history of being let's say "passionate fans" and i see these kinds of things over and over, many celebrities are just so miserable, because they're used like a sort mix between slaves and prostitutes and it makes me feel disgusted.

Zayn talked about his eating disorder being about him needing to control something and because everything else was without his control he started controlling what he ate. Just this shows how controlled everything was.
Eating disorders are almost always about control at heart, being hungry also has a numbing effect. I think it is likely that he skipped a few meals because he didn't have time to eat, and realised that when he skipped meals her felt a little bit better, more numb and in control. I feel so, so sorry for him. I used to be my sisters primary carer when she had anorexia, it is an utterly horrific illness.

U can see he completely lost control. And when it went downhill still nobody cared. His management did nothing. His manager scooter tried. Justin's relationship with selena and the drugs and partying and then to do interviews and concerts traveling the world. That's a lot. The media even made it seem like hes dated hundreds of girls. Yeah he was hanging out and talking to a lot of girls but never serious with any except hailey and selena. The media made up constant lies about him and made him seem so horrible he was labeled girly or gay as a kid. He is probably one of the most bullied celebrities of the generation. Yeah he lashes out and gets angry but the fans have to understand he can't do anything without ppl wanting pictures constantly. They don't even want to talk to him they just want a picture. Also the last tour of Justin's he did a world tour then stadiums and an Australian leg. He was non stop for 2 years. His touring company was the same one that was with mj for this is it. They over work them so much. u can see justin fell into a pit of depression again. And this is why when ppl hate on justin I want them to understand hes human and he may have all the materialistic things in the world but that doesnt make the loneliness go away. Like you said the boys had each other and justin didnt have a single thing in his life to keep him humble and stable. Hes not a bad guy honestly. Liam also once said that he felt like singing in live performance non-stop almost made him loose his love for music. It makes sense really, because not only does he have the most solos in the overall 1D album catalogue, he was always also doing the most backing / harmonies in live performances. Management really capitalised on his near perfect pitch control all whilst ignoring Louis and Niall who also had great voices and could have been given more solos. Plus Louis and Liam did the most song writing. Talk about overworked.

At the time I was a directioner and swiftie and all my directioner friends dragged Taylor through the mud because "how dare she write that song about Harry?" but the song was literally released before/while they were dating. That song is in no way about Harry. Especially considering Taylor and Harry seem to be on friendly terms ever since they broke up. It's just the media spinning it that way, not even looking at a time line.

The saddest thing about this whole conversation is that it worked. I loved them, I loved their music and their friendship. All the fans were being fed false images of what the media wanted to portray the HUMAN BEINGS these boys were and we ate it because we were young and couldn't see past what is essentially some very toxic personality traits that the boys DIDNT have.

Yeah, many of us bought into the branding but it wasn’t our fault. Just like 1D, we were all just kids and wanted to believe in the perfect cliche boy group and maybe even liked that about them. We didn’t know anything about hyper-sexualisation or anxiety disorders. It wasn’t until after they had broken up and everyone got older, was when I started to realize how one dimensional all of their “personalities” really were. Who we thought they were, was essentially just overplayed boy band roles and the fact that they could never truly be their real selves in 1D really makes my heart break bc I think they’re all genuinely good guys all things considered.

Honestly, same. I was in middle school when I first saw them on the X Factor back in 2010, and I just believed the roles they were forced to fall into. I know I shouldn’t blame myself for believing the lies because honestly I was too young to really understand what was going on, but I still do, because while I was over here having the time of my life and gushing about the boys and everything, they were literally going through so much.
Another thing is Larry. They are the reason why I was able to come out, but they were also the reason why I didn’t want to come out at first. The fact that the management had forbidden Louis and Harry to come out sent out a clear message that really scarred me: being gay is wrong. It took me so long to realize the little hints and find the Larry fandom that dedicate their time to find the small clues and constantly encourage the boys to be themselves. It was in this fandom where I found people that supported me and convinced me that there was nothing wrong with me.
I truly wish that if the boys ever get back together, they realize that technically, they’re not supposed to be working FOR the management, but it’s the other way around. Managers are hired to work FOR the artist, and One Direction had - and still do - the power to fire their management and find someone else. Of course, I don’t expect them to have known that, because they were so young when they started and didn’t know how the music industry worked, but they're older now, and I really hope they know this now.

What absolutely breaks my heart is how people ignore the 10 years of charity work Louis has done and paint him as this guy who doesn’t care about anything. This is a man who puts everybody above himself and nobody talks about that. He has lost so much in the last five years and still gives so much to everyone around him. Dghvd hfhhb i’m not a bts fan or anything, actually not even a kpop fan either, but i’ve heard that they all get treated horribly. overworked to the limits, idols fainting on stage, some committing suicide, 10 year contacts they can’t leave, extreme eating disorders, no control or say in anything, perceived media personas they are forced to follow and the list goes on.
The day I heard the news that one direction was splitting up, I cried all day, I wanted them to come back from that minute. Pretty sure a lot of other people wanted the same thing. But now I have realized that I definitely don’t want them to come back unless James corden is their manager! NOBODY else I would accept. I totally agree with you (Harry has been over-sexualised since 2010 and it must have bothered him at some point) but I do think he is naturally flirty/playful. liam's management is still AWFUL. when he's on lives there is always a person behind the camera instructing him on what to say. there was also that whole thing about management getting him drunk (breaking his sobriety which he has struggling with as the video mentioned) to get him almost NAKED and for a topless woman to lay on him for a photoshoot.
