This song is a blessing!!!! Especially because I work in the teenage ministry. A lot of our young people are confused and they deeply seek the real thing. Many pretend to be happy and satisfied but they’re hollow inside. Jesus is the real thing. God bless you guys for this song! It is timely, relevant and relatable! @@caleboso5844 Believe me, I know people that know people that have NEVER heard of Hillsong Y&F(or Hillsong in general), and were you to play them this track, they could take it to mean WHATEVER they want.
That's what happens when you produce ambiguous lyrics that are devoid of the Gospel or devoid of appraisal of YHWH, and sadly Hillsong have a terrible track record of doing this.
Though what can I expect, from a church that is widely accepted by the world and has a heretical theology...

@@MPaulHolmesMPH 1. The song: The melody is copied on Twenty One Pilots. The title is the same as 1 song of Foster the People. You can see, in the comment section, people have a "80-90 vibe". This is what you get when the song is not biblically relevant: "A 80-90 vibe". And it's called a worship song....
2. The form: Flashy lights, loud music are not needed to glorify God. So why use them then? To attract people by copying the world. That's called conformism.
3. The theology behind Hillsong: Hillsong is popular in the world because they abide and follow most of what the world wants them to follow. They say what the world wants them to say and that's why they are not rejected, and they don't represent what Christ died for. Jesus said that, as he was crucified for what he said, we, also, will be rejected for the Gospel. Hillsong doesn't preach the Gospel. If you can find the Gospel in this song, please do and explain it to me.
Again, not preaching what is true to have the approval of the world is called conformism.

I would say that all ministries reach out in different ways. This being a youth song released for the younger generation enables an outreach that otherwise would not be possible with a more traditional approach.
The lyrics imo are well written.
"Tell me why society's plan should define who I am" is saying why should we conform to the world (society) to define who we are. So I don't see how you reached that conclusion. I would be interested to know if you have ever listened to a preach by Hillsong, because to say they don't preach the gospel is a pretty weighted comment.

If you think about it...its kinda useless to compare you know why? The person you are comparing yourself to has different upbringing, childhood experiences, different parents, different environment, different family income, different finances, different DNA, everything is different so why would anyone ever compare one person with another?
Lets say you are comparing $$$ for example......even if one person makes 50million a year......theres someone out there thats richer....who makes 200mil a year.......and then theres ppl who look at that like its chump change....was the point in comparing?
Be aware of how God created you. Be aware of your gifts talents and what makes you beautiful in HIS eyes. Be aware of your calling and purpose on this earth in this life........and compare yourself to when you were first on fire for Jesus.

For those who keep complaining abt the lyrics: this song is a reminder for children of God, esp young generation.
As somebody in early 20s, I can relate to the song. "Tell me why society's plans should define who I am" I can really feel that cz I'm currently in a situation where people around me or even through media tells us young people (esp girls) to do things based on the standards and try to control us,
but the thing is "surely there's a higher way"
Can u imagine living in an environment whose people like to compare the level of success? Thats just toxic! You r forced to race against time, life is just like a competition in a bad way, not for God but clearly it's just for pride. Parents are worrired when their chilrden havent married before 30 or even 26, esp if u are a girl. They are worried about what people are gonna say abt the family. In some cases, if you have mental illness, only less than five closest friends will understand you. Some parents don't even want to hear that cz it's bad for family reputation.
You r the one to blame if your life looks ruined, meaning you dont meet people's expectations and standards. And there are so many things confusing us. They forget that life is not about us, but God and His plans and timing in ourlives.
And the sad part is, a lot of young people I know are going through this.
One was told to give up pursuing higher education cs she is 25 already and it's time for her to get married.
some ended up pleasing others by being someone else and regreted it. Bcs obviously at such a young age we need some time to think about who we are and seek God to learn His plans and everything, not to end up being controlled by other humans for the sake of worldly pride.
I just want to listen to God, be just like the wind that goes where He sends it. Many people dont really want to know God's way of thinking. they ignore it bcs it makes no sense and doesnt meet the standards made by humans.
This song, for me, is a reminder to only listen to God and stick to what He said no matter how impossible it seems like.
