This is the part where you say thank you… Mac Brosnan is undefeated on THIS vs THAT AND has the world’s fastest/quickest 68mm turbo Nissan GT-R built by “The Shop Houston” after making a 6.97 @ 206mph quarter mile pass, so it makes sense that we brought him out to give Lia Block a run for her money in the 1,400 horsepower Hoonicorn. No easy W’s this time around! AWD vs AWD, 1,400hp vs 2,000hp, SADEV Sequential vs DCT Transmission, V6 vs V8... this might be best race we’ve ever had. I just rewatched this video and slowed down the jump on Mac in the first race.... HOLY SHIT..... his jump was immaculate, he actually didn't leave early at all! as soon as the hands started to move he let the car eat.... bruh this dude is a monster on the strip
what are you talking about, he went early on the 1st and the 3rd. Go slow mo, watch his back wheels, they are spinning, smoking n going before the arm drops. Went early twice, and lost when he didnt. clear as day jumped the line both wins, I am literally watching it now

@@tonyb8710 if the rules are go as soon as the hand moves then he didn't jump. If the hand has to be down, then he jumped. Chances are he preempted it though. The reaction time is too fast. If this was done electronically chances are it would be classed as a jump.
It would have been a more interesting race if they left at the same time, and if she hadn't smoked it all the way. In the second race she might have won by a bigger margin if she hadn't lit up most of the way down the track.
He definitely preempted but if you go by frame by frame on this video you will see he moved exactly when the hands moved in race 1 and 3. It's almost unreal reaction time for a non static start device. The dude knows how to race.

Finally it has more evenly matched opponents. It got stale pretty fast watching it beat underpowered rwd cars

11:03 TECHNICALLY the finger moves for ONE FRAME before the wheels spin.
Know this is old, but in street racing they would watch for the sidewall of the wheel to crumple, which it does before the finger moved haha.

If the intent of the sport is to judge human reaction time then this is definitely well outside the range of what is physically possible, objectively the mind of the driver definitely jumped the start, by at least 100ms, but if we're just trying to establish a linear series of events in time them arguably this was the absolute perfect launch.

That GTR has been 6.97 at 206 MPH in the 1/4 mile. Even getting close to a car like that is impressive. I'd actually love to see the Hoonicorn on a prepped strip (although if it's breaking driveshafts on a no-prep track that might spell problems for a sticky drag strip). Beastly R35 for sure.
The driveshafts are basically why we don't run it on prep.
I don't remember what video it was in, but they've said before that the drivetrain isn't stout enough to race on prep.

@@MrEdwithdreadz I’m sure there is, but driveshafts are comparably cheap and easy to fix. The AWD system also has its limits. If you start beefing up the driveshafts then you find out what the next weakest link is.

Anti-slip surface has been around in motorcycle racing for a while.
I got some awesome Marchesini M7RR wheels, used in WSBK 2012 with the special surface.
Supports lower tyre pressure without the loss of wheel/rim-spin and traction.
Seeing kimbo street racing made me realise how good of a build that is. no wheelspin or anything just grabs onto the ground and it moves. Also funny that when he shows up all the other racers basically know he either DNFs or he wins.
Even though it’s cool to see kens daughter involved in the whole race thing following dads foot steps I would have loved to see ken run against that gtr he drives that car so smooth.
I don't think he legally can anymore and that's why they have his daughter.

It performed very well. The Hoonicorn is a fantastic car and great piece of engineering. This is why I am so impressed with that GTR.

The GTR is strictly a drag car and the mustang isn't. Slicks vs street tires. You literally stated the obvious when it comes to drag racing. The GTR won't run all day and the mustang will.

Like he said...that GTR gets faster after the 500ft mark... after 500ft on the second race he reeled her in hard and nearly caught her by the 1000ft mark. if it was a full quarter he would have had her in the second race too. That GT-R is probably the fastest car they've ever gone against that can run on no prep. You can have all the HP in the world, but it doesn't do you any good if you can't put the power to the ground and hook.

I thought I heard the GTR had to repack its chutes, and then "ice down" before it was ready for Race #2.

@@endokrin7897 no prep means the track has not had tires dragged across the surface by a tractor, and been sprayed down with a sticky compound like they do at NHRA drag strips to make the track sticky and promote very high traction.
No prep is bare tarmac without all the rubber and 'sticky juice' added to it's surface.
Yea this is the fastest car they have brought so far, I bet Hoonigan is never racing him again. They owes him 1 more race. And we all know what the result will be :)

That first race, if you go frame by frame you can see he didn't jump. Just insane reaction time. FYI, for those that don't know, in regular KRplus in Chrome, < and > go forward and backward 1 frame at a time.
He left her like she had the car in reverse. When she jumps the crew taunts the other driver with "A chase is a race" when someone else has a quicker RT "they jumped".

This is a nice channel and racing series, but it'd get boring if they ALWAYS won, due to a high budget and large design and build team.

I don’t know much at all about the audi although would that really be a fair race for the Audi against the hoonicorn? Considering the power difference and the hoonicorns ability to eat a 4000hp drag car? Again, I’m open to learn. This isn’t a hate comment.

Doesn't mean you have to be an absolute jerk about it. In a circuit race, the Hoonicorn would blow the doors off that GTR no contest. The GTR is built for drag and the Hoonicorn is built for circuit racing and drifting. Look at the Hoonicorn now. It has about 600 more hp. I think the Hoonicorn would give it a much better challenge now.

It spools up so fast on those short gears, Ken Block shifts like a beast so I doubt it even hits the limiter with him driving. Experience. 😉

@@Nirotix It hangs on the limiter because the tyres are spinning, she waiting for the wheel speed to catch up before shifting into the next gear otherwise it'll bog.
Hi, I'm wondering what it means that she smoked the tires the entire way. Or rather: WHY.
Did she have the RPMs too high? Did she not shift properly? (I always thought those sequential gear boxes were fairly automatic, in that you shift when you hit redline (or peak HP RPM)
Or in other words: although we're looking at a human driver, couldn't it be more automatic? More 'replicable' and consistent?
I've only ever driven cars and bikes with normal manual gearboxes, so I know there are more variables when I try to go fast. (Shifting too soon, messing up my clutch work, etc.)
Does a car like the Hoonicorn have those same challenges?

Hoonicorn just doesn't seem the same without that stick shift sequential 🤔 seeing the flames from the exhaust and that stick getting abused is what made the 1st series so good in my opinion. Still going to watch the 🔥🔥🔥🔥 though 😂

She should be the last person to complain about jumping the line, Cause last race she did it twice and they still give her win, all because of their bullshit rule if you jump and the other guy follows the race is still valid what kinda shit is that. How is the other driver was to know you jumped when he’s looking at the starter 😕

That jump in round 1 was no worse than Lia’s jump against the Corvette last time. It’s fun to play by street racing rules, but it’s dragging down the series to let it devolve into who can cheat better.

Also a full electrics daily driven Audi gave it a run for its money with less hp and knowing this they never ran vs the common big power GTR or JZ powered anything to make sure they didnt lose earlier.

GTR's are such monsters. They're EASY to mod for more power and REALLY EASY to work on. Problem is, the aftermarket parts are ridiculously expensive. I helped work on a friend's GTR to get it to 1300 HP and its a beast. Easily one of the simplest cars to work on, in my opinion.

@@RaidersFan1001 I thought I was alone on this and I'm glad to see that I'm not. Last video, everyone in the comments was saying it was just good reaction time. To their credit, the Hoonigan crew conceded that she chased in this video (hence the GT-R getting the dub despite jumping), but they did "complain" about the jumps as they weren't in their favor this time around. I'd be in favor of completely discounting jumps, only strict starts. This has nothing to do with Lia (though I've only seen a couple of weird comments that seem to be mad at her for whatever reason, I'm sure being a young girl may come into play), it's just the grey that exists in this format of racing. Get rid of the grey. No jumps. That way I can sleep at night knowing who's actually the fastest LOL! All of this said, I'm a circuit/time attack guy, so I'm sure these rules are set up the way they are for a reason.

I've never done a drag race, but I don't understand the "a chase is a race" mentality. Why don't they just do more races? These are human drivers going off a dude raising and lowering his arms (and not a Christmas tree.) There's bound to be some error (and the GTR jumped like crazy on the first race.)
If you're racing a car like these, they should be able to do a run, drive back to the start, and do another run.
If he jumped, let her chase him. Then just do another race. Worst case is you get extra race footage to edit.
It's not like top fuel or funny cars, where you have to rebuild engines between runs, right? 🤔
I'd happily watch another 3 races (driveshaft notwithstanding) so I say "let her race! (more)"

With all due respect to the Hoonicorn, but I don't see it beating that GT-R.
The GT-R is just way too good off the start. It's one of the very few cars that keep up with the Hoonicorn on launch and beat it due to its sheer power.

if ya watch round 1 at .25 speed the Nissan moved when the elbow started to move and the started movement wasnt the crispest and had a pause creating the problem. Starters as soon as the hands go up need to strike downwards ..consistency...
