"Have I lost myself, or have I gained you?" - it's what Taehyung's old self is asking the new, polished version of him. It's why he dances with masks: because they're just versions of himself.
"Tell me if my voice isn't real. If I shouldn't have thrown myself away." - The real Taehyung is asking this: asking if he's still there. If he's still alive.
"A crack again on this frozen lake." - an imperfection, a flaw that is not supposed to be there.
"In the dream I shortly went to, my agonizing phantom pain is still the same." - the dream is the real Taehyung, the old one, and the "agonizing phantom pain" means that he doesn't want to change, but the feeling of that is fading. (phantom) It's becoming a necessity, the need for being someone he isn't.
It's like he must be *this* version of himself and act *this* way.
And that's really uncomforting..
So, the fake verison of Tae = the perfect version, the one that everyone wants to see.
And the real version = just something he hides behind a mask now.
If you really analyze the lyrics, there are many similarities that you can tie back to this. The song is written beautifully, in a metaphor, and to be honest, it scares me :(

"I buried my voice for you." - the old Tae talking to either the new one or us ARMYs, saying that he'll be the perfect, shining star we expect him to be.
"A thick ice [over the river] has formed." - Taehyung saying that there are no cracks, or imperfections on his lake's surface.
"I suddenly run to the lake." - Taehyung narrating, how he checks constantly for imperfections (cracks on the river ice).
"Please don't say anything." - this line is self explanatory
"Reach my hand out to cover the mouth." - Taehyung saying this, because he doesn't want anyone to know about the masks, or different versions of him.
"But in the end, spring will come someday.. the ice will melt and flow away." - basically, the true self will show, his fake selves will melt away, and there will be consequences.
"Try to cover my ears but can't go to sleep." - Either this fake side of Tae is bothering him, or the fact that he is being fake.
"Try to cover it [the pain]." - He doesn't want to show anyone the real side of him, because he is hurting and vulnerable on that unknown side.
I think Namjoon wrote it about himself. If you watch burn the stage, you will see him talking about not being able to live like himself.
