Dragon fruit looks far more appetizing than it tastes ... the flesh tastes like a mild and underripe kiwi, minus all the bright refreshing notes of gooseberry. So far, ive tried the variety with white flesh inside, but there are other varieties. With my eyes closed, i'd choose kiwi every time. UPDATE: I live quite a ways north of where these fruit normally grow, and its also not in demand or regularly seen here, so I assume most of my experience to date with DF has been less than optimally ripe, because ive since sampled a sweeter one. It was v.good ... but I still prefer yellow flesh kiwi, TBH.

You can remove the fruit out of the skin using your thumb after slicing it in half. You leave some if you scoop it. You just have to press your thumb on the side, just like in avocado, follow the circular motion, once done you just have to press the bottom so it pops out. That way, you have more meat.

Too bad dragon fruit is so bland :( It’s so beautiful and I love the texture. I’ll admit, I’ve only had the white flesh kind fresh, is the version shown here more richly flavored? I know I’ve had dragon fruit teas and juices that had a lot of flavor, but I never know if it’s the dragon fruit or the combination of fruits since it’s never by itself.

Its probably made from aluminium which is completely safe as it is used in tins and foils everywhere. Though about comsumption of small metal pieces, I have no idea, sorry.
no matter what, you’re gonna eat flakes of metal if *anything* you use in cooking is metal. and as long as it’s not massive chunks, i’d say relatively harmless! don’t know about long-term, though.
