I discovered Mamamoo last week. I was at the dentist getting my tooth pulled and jamming to Gogobebe. Even the dentist was dancing. This was not while he was pulling out my tooth though. I didn't think I'd enjoy the rapping but Moonbyul is fantastic! The sweater vest was a no but all together, I loved the performance. GVG

Mamamoo is the group that they say broke Koreaβs beauty standard but I donβt believe in it because they are equally as pretty as those idols and their voices are on a higher level. Raw and oh so gooooood! I specifically love Hwasaβs voice. Itβs sexy. But I love them all so much! π€
not all of Mamamoo. mostly Hwasa and then Moonbyul a bit. Hwasa was literally told she doesn't fit Korean beauty standards and was rejected from audition and has also been criticized for not fitting Korean beauty standards several times on social media.
All I say is F the Korean beauty standard bc hwasa is a bae!!! Itβs nice to see someone who looks similar to me (in Korean eyes: dark, thicker, etc) is considered beautiful to many!

Moonbyul was originally supposed to be a vocalist but with three other incredible vocals already in the group she decided to rap. She does still sing sometimes
I didnβt know about this group until I heard from my daughter and I was like these girls can sing and the harmony is just perfect. Iβm not an expert when it comes to analysis or description of a good singer but I know a good one when I hear it. The other girl group i like is Twice.

MOONBYUL (on the left): the rapper also a singer, and performer, she's a composer, she's a lyricist, she's a choreographer, she's also MC on her radio show. she is at no.5 female most credit in korea. She also cover some song that show her power at singing.
SOLAR (beside moonbyul) : she's the leader, main vocal, lyricist, composer, she open her solarsido KRplus channel (she do a lot of challenge there : cover songs, cover dance, medley songs, mukbang, workout, healthy diet, vlogs, Q&A, intervews, learning about history and more challenge), now she is a mentor on a show (NEW SINGER).
WHEEIN (beside solar) : she's main vocal, performer, lyricist, composer, korean love her voice that she listed on top 5 korean Best voice (who doesn't love her honey voice duhh), she can play drum and piano, she also sang some OST. she also did cover songs and cover dances.
HWASA (beside wheein) : she is main vocal, rapper, lyricist, composer. Korean love her, that what she ate become sold out, among MAMAMOO she has the most tv show appearances, her solo TWIT and MARIA really did success internationally, many people know maria but didn't know MAMAMOO. (People really love her or hate her but otherwise people know her).

Moon Byul is not just an awesome rapper, but she has a fantastically smooth vocal as well! Please listen to Byul's Snow, miracle 3 days ago, Trying to say goodbye, Absence, and Eclipse! β€β€β€β€
Adding to say that Byul trained as a vocalist, and almost debuted in another group (as main vocalist, with WheeIn as Maknae), but it was disbanded before they could debut.
She was then forced by the company to take on the role of Rapper (because there were already 3 powerful vocals in MMM).
Solar and Hwasa helped teach and guide Byul in rapping, and Hwasa was the one who taught Byul's signature growl at the end of many of her raps.
Byul lost confidence in her vocals at the early start of MMM, because she compared herself to the 3 powerful vocals, and even though all 3 girls encouraged her to sing and harmonise with them in the official songs, she refused it. Byul would only sing during off screen time, vlives, and on MMMTV.
Eventually, Solar managed get the company to allow Byul to sing in an offical song, Paint Me. All fans were shocked and excited when they heard it!
And she had a great part in 10 Nights (no MV, but they sang LIVE, which is even better!), and the fans went crazy again.
Now, Byul has many solo new songs, and I think her Solo album is the best selling among all 4 of them in MMM.
Please show them the Purple Hawk introduction to Mamamoo next so they can also fall in love with their personalities, I love Mamamoo my favorite Kpop girl group!
Where Are We Now came out after they made this Dingo Killing Voice. I believe this was filmed during their Aya promotions. If they get invited to do another one, I'm pretty sure they'll add Where Are We Now to it. hehe. thanks for reacting to this. If they havent already, I also highly recommend the Immortal Songs 2 Medley as well.
If they dont know anything about it, its a competition show where singers do covers of legendary songs (older generation songs) and they usually invite either the original singers or the producers of the songs being covered. Although there are some exceptions like singers/producers who have passed away. Some notable performances, for me anyway, has been pretty much all of the MAMAMOO stages, the entire g.o.d. special (especially the ending performance), Ailee's cover of Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You, LOONA's cover of Love Battery, and a lot of Sohyang's performances (my personal favorite is the Michael Bolton special episode performance stage). :)

This group is so underrated. The only girlfroup I can stan coz the vocals and talent is just something else.
Mamamoo are not underrated. they just don't have huge international fanbase. Mamamoo have 14 performances in Immortal Songs 2(and the show invites them all the time but they don't have time due to their schedule so they stopped going) and a performance in Best of the Best special. the only female group with so many performances(most don't get a 2nd) + the 1st female group that performed in best of the Best. Mamamoo are the 1st that performed in Killing Voice. Hip in MAMA 2019 has 62 million views on MAMA youtube channel. the only group with more views is BTS. other female groups/soloists don't even have half the views of Hip. their Teletubbie costumes in Golden Disk Awards stole the entire show(on youtube video with the appearance of all the artists on stage, at least 70% of comments are about Mamamoo). in 2018 Starry Night beat Blackpink - Boombayah in Korean charts. in Soribaba 2020 awards the narrator introduced Mamamoo as "Vocal Queens with impeccable vocals". in Melon chart "Female Groups From All Generations With the Most Songs With Over 10 Million Unique Listeners" Mamamoo are 2nd with around 30 songs. 1st is 2ne1 with a bit over 30.

Ahhhhh I love MAMAMOO especially their MV they are so aesthetic the first MV I watched by them was gogobebe and I absolutely loved in (HIP was so badass too like highly recommend) and they have such good chemistry together and are so close which I think is just awesome I would love to meet them someday

For me, their songs are just masterpieces. I really love to listen to every song of RBW artists. I highly recommend to you their brother and sister groups named Onewe /band/, Oneus, Purple kiss, and Vromance too. They're so talented with everything, Thank you so much for this. This is pretty much a hang loose live session. Much of what they do is impromptu but it also shows their charm which is so well loved by their fans.
They could be very free not just here but in their stage performances, because of the absolute talent they have. They are in full control of their moves and vocals , and thus they do not need to stick choreography. In fact many have commented that when they perform, it looks like 4 accomplished soloists collaborating instead of a group.
It is also well known that when mamamoo sings, other groups hide in the shadows and pretend to play on their phones.
Their MVs aside, a very special stage performance is Immortal Songs Medley where they perform from slow to fast 12 straight minutes of high powered retro classics.
Hope you can discover more of them. You deserve it.

Can I recommend listening to them singing I Miss You live (the performance from Queendom, maybe?) as a perfect example of Mamamoo's stunning vocals?
Moonbyul (the rapper) is really good friends with Jin. The support they show each other at award shows is so sweet to see. Mamamoo have some of the most underrated vocals in the industry. How they're not more popular baffles me. And I adore Hwasa, I love how she challenges everything that is expected of female kpop idols and she does it with so much confidence
Mamamoo are from a small company and can't afford marketing, promotion, etc for international and they don't know English to interact with international fans on social media. in Korea they're very popular though(just appearing on Dingo is huge recognition), appear on multiple shows, do their own shows, etc.

OMG...I am so thankful that you guys react to MAMAMOO, they are one of the best Kpop groups that has all 4 vocals (Moonbyul-the rapper is actually also skillful in singing too). It's basically moonbyul is main rapper and hwasa is the lead rapper /vocalist but four of them are vocalist because moonbyul is a vocalist before becoming a rapper for mamamoo and but basically 4 of them can rap dance sing and visual
