I know this video must have been hard for you to make, but when I saw this as a child, it changed my perspective and I was able to get the help I needed. It’s insane looking back on this video and how much it helped me avoid situations like this.

Ilyssa, you sharing your story honestly helped me SO much, 2 years ago I was being groomed when I was 13 by 17-year-old year also. It took me many months to realize that I was being groomed but hearing your story made me realize what a bad situation I was in. As the days went by I found myself being more isolated from my family and friends, I would always have to message and call him or he would guilt trip and even threaten me. Much stuff occurred within the time period that still affects me today, but thanks to this video, I eventually got the courage to distance myself from this person and block him. If it wasn't for you, this could've went on for much longer. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Thank you for speaking out about this. In my own situations when I was a preteen / teenager, I made a lot of those same statements to myself regarding "I should have done x".
It took a long time for me to really address how badly it messed up my ability to trust, have healthy relationships, and understand what was or wasn't right for me.

I was raped when i was seven now im 18 amd was also raped in march of this year... I blame myself for all of it... Even if i didnt know what was going on at the time. I filed a report for the most recent one the police made me go through all this shit just to not even try to do anything about it. I felt so stuck. All this trauma caused me to have 5 mental diagnosises. And im scared... I really dont know how someone could do stuff like this. I 100% relate. Just know you are not alone... And NON of it was your fault...

I was in a relationship very similar (although the guy was literally the same age as me, & was in the same town) in highschool, and it's something that's so hard for people who haven't had the same experience to understand. The psychology of it is very hard to snap out of, but I hope to everyone who's going through this that they escape that situation. Control is not love, and abuse is not love.

Thank you so so much for talking so openly about such difficult topics. And thank you so much more for telling us your personal
story in such detail. I‘ve heard warnings about these topics, but never have I seen what grooming actually can look like and how easily a predator can manipulate a child.
All of this must have been incredibly difficult for you, back then when you were still just a kid as well as now, telling this story and coping with such awful memories.
Many people don‘t understand how vulnerable a person is during their teens, teenagers often seem old enough to deal with things alone but they really aren‘t. And making them think that they have to deal with problems like this alone because „they are old enough“ might be a problem with our society, even though I feel like it is progressively getting better.
When I was 13 I had a lot of suicidal thoughts; my „friends“ in school made me think the world would be better without me. Back then I felt so alone and I wasn‘t at all capable of reflecting and understanding that they were the problem, not me. I totally understand that you too weren’t able to understand what was happening to you at such a young age.
With 13 I always thought I was old enough for everything, but I really wasn‘t. I get why you tried to deal with this abuser alone, unable to fully leave the situation. I‘m sorry this happened to you, I can‘t imagine how awful it must have been for you. I‘m glad you were able to cut ties with this asshole and process everything to a point where you are able to publicly talk about it. Again, thank you so much for this video!

Ive had multiple people try to do this to me in the last 5 years and I probably would have fell for it if it wasn't for watching this video. In 2018 when I was 14, I was groomed by a man who was 28. A few weeks into it I grew emotionally strained from that relationship and ended up telling my teacher about it. I had no idea how manipulated and brainwashed I was, so the teacher told me to look up stories of other children who went through the same thing as I did, what happened to them, etc. I was busy that afternoon, so I did a quick search and downloaded all the videos, storytimes, and documentaries I found about child grooming... this being one of them.
That weekend was my 15th birthday, and my parents (who knew what was going on) tried to cheer me up with a long road trip. They didn't understand that I wasn't ready to be cheered up, so I was unintentially left alone to deal with my emotions while they enjoyed the vacation. The playlist I'd saved was my only outlet. This was one of the stories that stuck with me the most, and I was captivated. It helped motivate me to leave this individual, something I'm still thankful for. I'll never forget the feeling I had, listening to the audio for the first time while staring out the car window.
I was lucky. I ran into so many close calls in which I narrowly escaped being lured, enticed, and raped. I had adults in my life who I could trust. If I stayed any longer, the anguish this relationship already caused me would have been much worse, and it still affects me and my decision making at 17. I come back to this video every once in a blue moon and whenever I watch it, I feel grateful and loved.

As someone who never got justice from *my* abuser, (He was 35, I was SIX. FUCKING *6* , he threatened to kill himself, AND HE ACTUALLY DID IT. HE SHOT HIMSELF IN THE FUCKING HEAD)

i’m a victim of the same thing, and i always thought my story didn’t count sense it was online. but this lets me know that it DOES. it took my young childhood away, from 12-14 i was always getting harassed and had to stay up late bc they demanded to call me or for me to send photos etc. at the time he was “14” when we first met, turns out he was 15. so he was 17 by the end of it, but it was “ok” bc he was still a minor. it makes me sick to know this has happened to other people.
right now i’m 15, i still haven’t told my family bc it terrifies me. but i am going to trauma therapy for it. he cannot contact me anymore bc i blocked him on everything, changed my usernames/make new accounts. i even moved so that he wouldn’t know where i lived anymore. this stuff is serious, terrifying, and when you’re young you don’t think it’s as bad as it actually is and you play down ur feelings to js say “oh it’s ok bc….”
thank you for sharing your story, for people like me and way more will know that they’re not alone. i’m thankful to god that i didn’t stay long and had a way to get out. i’m so sorry you didn’t, but i’m so glad you’re out now. much love ❤

No. Age isn't "just a number". Age is the determination of how old you are based on how long you been alive. We use numbers to help count those.
If you are 34 years old then that means you been living for 34 years, not just "34". If I said "34" without any context, then that is just a number but not if it is used to describe the age of somebody.
I get some people like to use this to say "I don't care if we are ages apart, we still love each other". Which I don't mind if someone does as long as both people are legal age, they can date whoever younger or older than them above the legal age they want but age isn't "just a number" it's everything that I described above.

Im glad your better soon but there are a a lot of people like Haris, and I hate how they get away with it. it happened to my best friend it was during the times you uploaded these videos it helped her alot through it and I was the first person whom she told. She was 13-14 at the time and her groper was atleast 24-25 at the time, he made her send pictures of herself and made her mental health worsen. I’m glad she told me and I helped her throughout it, we luckily caught his acts but he disappeared, I’m very thankful for you and others that help people who are in these situations thank you.
