I think so many of us like this song because it perfectly captures the feelings most of us go through in our daily lives. We are all seeking purpose, and searching for meaning, but too often we get let down by the existing world around us. We want to be eternal optimists, change the world for the better, and find true love, but we are let down. As a result, our youthful purity becomes callous, and we fundamentally change who we are. I think this song is a beautiful attempt at capturing that spirit of vulnerability we all have deep within ourselves. This song is a reminder to not lose your heart, to not lose your ability to love and imagine. We're all lost stars just trying to find our way.

Raw or over acting? I think it's the latter.
Adam is an artist. This is how he looks when he sings. It's not "overacting" especially when I was referring to the soft and non-autotuned voice he is singing in. He has a high register, and when you sing high registers it can appear to be theatrical, when in reality its just Adam being into the music and having to sing a higher note.
