Robert Henderson Ministries is about empowering people for their Kingdom Function. Our call is to “Disciple Nations” into their destiny and purpose. One of the main areas we target in this endeavor is shifting the church from a “pastoral model” to an “apostolic model”. The church must become the government God intended instead of just a place of meeting needs. As this happens, nations will shift from their present state into a kingdom culture.

That's truly encouraging to engage more in this. I always like it, when God throws some words in a human language in it, so a person who knows that specific language is edified as well. May God bless us all abundantly, for the task at hand is great and we cannot shoot with slings or spears anymore. We need the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit to get through the spiritual blockages. I rejoice in this and anticipate a deeper functioning in this. There's a spiritual war to win. We need some heavy duty spiritual 'machinery' to win it for our Lord Jesus Christ! He has already done everything needed, we may now participate in taking back the ground. Victory is guaranteed.

Also, ask Him that God's Word you have read and studied stay firmly in your heart so you speak the Word and be the doer of the Word too for the glory of the Lord. The Bible code is thus accessed. It is my understanding that the followers of Christ are to believe in and be doer His Word, the Bible. The Lord Jesus said in
    A. Mark 16:17, NKJV:
    17 And these signs will follow those who BELIEVE: In My Name they will cast out demons; they will SPEAK WITH NEW TONGUES;
    B. Luke 24:49, NKJV:
49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with POWER FROM ON HIGH.
    C.Acts 2:4, NKJV:
4 And they were all FILLED with the Holy Spirit and began to SPEAK WITH OTHER TONGUES, as the Spirit GAVE THEM UTTERANCE.
The biggest reservation many believers have is the possibility of being led astrayed by demonic spirits to speak gibberish. This can easily be overcome by asking the Holy Spirit to give you the utterance in a language you know or you can check online.
As the Lord said in Luke 11:13, NKJV:
13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!"
A person I know did so. The utterance given means People of God in Hebrew. The person prayed with it for over a year then one day as the utterance was petitioned new languages poured forth. By this time the person has a solid relationship with the Holy Spirit and know the utterance is Holy, not gibberish or self fabrication. Also, at times the Holy Spirit will prompt a person to dance while praising and worshipping the Heavenly Father in spirit/tongues. All in Holy decorum.
An Evangelist once said Salvation os the greatest gift of the Heavenly Father to humanity, the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift to His children.
May all children of the Lord BELIEVE in His Word and thus do His Will and be so blessed.

Fear isnt a fruit of the spirit and its the opposite of love as perfect love casts out all fear. 1 John 4:18 so check yourself sister/brother and talk to the Lord about this. The kingdom of heaven has its languages, and the kingdom of darkness which is also a kingdom, also has its languages. Were those people in church speaking in tongues from heaven? I dont know. I do know that speaking in tongues is real, tongues edifies the church, and there are witches and warlords that do infiltrate the church and speak in tongues of devils to curse the work of the church and its people, church itself. God didn’t give us a spirit of fear as this other verse says: 2 Timothy 1:7 - For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. So again, check yourself.
Speaking in tongues is in the bible and you should do a bible study on it to put that fear to rest. Its too bad that it isnt normal for everyone to speak in tongues in christian churches.
“They were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance” (Acts 2:4).

I suggest you get that spirit of fear and doubt cast out of you. Remember in Acts, they thought the apostles were drunk when the holy spirit filled them.

  • @kavikv.d.hexenholtz3474

There is absolutely nothing mysterious about Biblical "tongues" - and there is only *one* type - when referring to something spoken, they are nothing more than real, rational language(s); usually, but not always, unknown to those listening to them, but always known by the speaker(s) - it’s their native language (in some cases, it is a language the speaker has learned).
_Nowhere_ in the Bible is modern tongues-speech advocated or evidenced.
‘Tongues’ (read, *‘languages’* ) - the divine gift, is the God given ability to effortlessly learn to speak and be understood through real-language barriers. It is not xenoglossy, nor is it the self-created non-cognitive non-language utterance of modern tongues-speech.
The above said, I'm not doubting or questioning the 'tongues experience'; glossolalia as the spiritual tool that it is, can be very powerful and, for many people, the experience is profound. As one commenter put it, “Speaking in tongues distracts the ego/analytical/conscious mind while leaving the subconscious (the heart) wide open to import the divine." Both the spiritual and physical benefits of using this tool are also well documented. Again though, it is important to note that this same statement can be made for virtually _any_ other culture that practices glossolalia. Religious and cultural differences aside, the glossolalia an Evenki Shaman in Siberia, a vodoun priestess in Togo and a Christian tongues-speaker in Alabama are producing are in no way different from each other. They’re all producing their glossolalia in the exact same way; they just have different explanations and beliefs as to why they’re doing it, and where it comes from. It is only in certain Christian denominations where is it construed as something it never was.

The BIGGEST difference is that Christians baptized in the Holy Spirit are to ask THE Holy Spirit to give utterance and understanding. It is written in Acts 2:4, NKJV:
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
It is written in Romans 8:26, NKJV: Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Isn't this vastly different than any other culture or beliefs?

Let's tackle the easier one first -
The passage so often quoted from Romans (Rom. 8:26) has absolutely nothing to do with “tongues”.
As one writer puts it (better than I can)…. “The burden of the text is that the Spirit counterbalances the handicap of believers in prayer by interceding for them in accordance with God’s will. The hope of believers is also strengthened by the assistance of the Holy Spirit.”
As to whether or not Paul sort of ‘encodes’ a statement about tongues….Since Biblical ‘tongues’ refers to real language, it’s rather unlikely. To equate this passage with modern tongues because “groaning” is akin to how some Charismatics and Pentecostals describe the modern tongues experience, would require jumping through some interpretive hoops.”
I have never heard modern tongues presenting as anything but very audible glossic strings; never as groaning.
This verse is typically taken completely out of context from the rest of the passage and offered as yet another Biblical “proof” of modern tongues-speech. Another example of the Pentecostal/Charismatic synthesis of trying to make sense of the “tongues experience” in light of the narrative of Scripture; a reading into the text of something that’s just not there.
Except, that's not at all what the Greek is saying in Acts 2:4 - (see particularly the bolded section)
This would take a few pages to explain properly; so, for the sake of brevity, I’m considerably simplifying and ‘bottom lining’ the below.
At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit did not give the _language_ (i.e., the means/content) of the apostles’ speech, it gave the _manner_ in which it was spoken.
*The Holy Spirit gave the 12 apostles what in the Greek text is “apophtheggesthai”.* This word is from “apophtheggomai” which is best translated as “to give bold, authoritative, inspired speech to”. Don’t go to Strong’s and look it up - “Strong’s” is a _concordance_ , not a lexicon; there’s a _huge_ difference. *
It refers *not* to the content/means of the speech (i.e., the language used), but rather to the *manner* of speaking. In each instance where this word occurs in scripture, the person's speech is bold, authoritative, and inspired, and it is always, by the way, in the speaker’s native language.
Without going into what could be considerable detail, when looking at the “language wherein the attendees were born” there are only two: Aramaic and Greek.
The Jews present at Pentecost came from three areas: Judea, the Western Diaspora and the Eastern Diaspora. “All nations under heaven” is an idiomatic expression - Acts II: 9-11 tells us where those visiting were from.
The “list of nations”, as it’s called, of Acts 2: 9-11 is simply that - a list of countries, lands and nations that tell us where these people were from; *not* what language(s) they spoke, as most people assume. Further, the idea that the “tongues” of Acts II was xenoglossy also stems from this false assumption. In the entire narrative not *one* language is ever referenced by name - ever wonder why?
The miracle of language at Pentecost was making the God of the Jews accessible to all people and moreover, not having to do so in one prescribed language: namely, Hebrew, the sacerdotal language of Judaism. The crowd was expecting to hear Hebrew first followed by translations into Aramaic and Greek as was the tradition and practice of the day; what they got were Aramaic and Greek without Hebrew first.
In Acts 2, the actual gift being emphasized is the fact that the Holy Spirit has empowered the disciples to _prophesy_ and to boldly proclaim the Word of the Lord, and this is exactly what we find in verse 14. Peter “lifted up his voice and _addressed_ them”, but perhaps a better translation would be that he lifted up his voice and _prophesied._ We tend to think of prophecy as a kind of foretelling of future events, but in the Hebrew use, it was more often associated with _speaking forth_ the Word of the Lord. I would argue that, if looking for a gift of the Holy Spirit to assign to Pentecost, it would be more the gift of Prophesy than of Languages.
No xenoglossy, no modern tongues-speech, just real, rational language(s). There *was* a language miracle at Pentecost provided by the Holy Spirit, no argument there; just not the one most people assume.
