The most interesting thing to me is that Ossai was having a fantastic game, even got a shout out from the officiating crew for his excellent play.

Because they knew he was targeted to "blow the game" before it even happened. The players are directed to do this stuff and paid handsomely. Benny Cunningham, Chris Borland, Junior Galette, Tim Brown, Larry Johnson have all blown the whistle on this. So pathetic how people are JUST starting to barely question this stuff. It's not just the refs. All of them are on the same side: players, refs, coaches, front office, etc. All scripted.

Yeah the play was uncalled for but we can’t put the blame completely on him because there were mistakes before that also contributed to our loss such as giving up three sacks in the first quarter.

I'm a Chiefs fan and I certainly saw a number of things done by the officials that would have made me very upset if I was a Bengals fan, but my impression was that most of those calls were correct calls. If an official blows the play dead before it starts then even if almost no one hears it, the play is still dead. I think that that official should have done a better job of stopping that play once it was going to be ruled dead, but that doesn't make the eventual call wrong. They got the call correct in Cincy's favor for the pass interference that would have caused an interception, and there were a few more. And, of course, I also feel bad for Ossai there, but every single ref in the league is calling that penalty. Anyhow, I mean no disrespect and I am sure that fans of both teams will be looking forward to the next game between these two great teams. Cincy made great adjustments to turn this one around and nearly win.

Mahomes was clearly running out of bounds and was already out before being pushed by Ossai. Ossai even extended his arms and initiated contact so you can’t say it happened really fast and was unintentional. The push was intentional and a bad mistake by Ossai.

Ossai is running full speed just trying to prevent Mahomes from getting the extra yardage. He needs to be more aware of where Mahomes is but it’s hard to stop his momentum when he’s giving it everything he’s got just to meet Mahomes on the sideline

Both teams played with so much heart everyone put it all on the line and in the end the team that makes the least amount of mistakes wins. His mistake wasn’t the only one it was just the last. Looking forward to seeing them play again next year.
He barely hit him and what's worse is the head ref not calling the obvious holding going on right in front of him. I don't usually focus on the whole ref narrative, but this game felt different. It really seemed like the refs were pulling for KC. NFL had to put Cincy in their place for their negative comments about the game cancellation.

I saw a huge athlete try to go from full sprint to stop . Then I saw his knee buckle and hyper extend forward as his cleat dug in and stopped . Then I saw all of his torso weight flip over his hyperextended knee. I did see him reach out towards the QB in an effort to stop his own fall to the ground , just as he would reach for whatever player was near him at the time. That’s what I saw and I could care less who goes to the SB.

The Chiefs had an offsides penalty that likely cost them a trip to the SB in 2018. I felt terrible for that Cincy player, but it really was a late hit. Cincy is a good team though. I really don't see why they didn't get more attention than the Bills during the season.

Just because something happened at the very end doesn't mean that is what cost them the game. The Bengals lost because they gave up 5 sacks and had 2 pics, red zone failure leading to a field goal and because of the late hit at the end. The whole game matters. The O-Line should have been the ones crying.

The fix is in. The NFL wanted a Chiefs-Eagles Superbowl, so that's what we're getting. Why is no one else calling out that he barely pushed Mahomes? And forward momentum would mean he still would've smacked into Mahomes anyhow.

To be fair this play wasn't a tenth as vindictive as most of Burficts moments. But it was still a legit penalty, he didn't have to purposefully reach out and push Mahomes when they were both out of bounds.
Made no difference. THe game was lost the series before when Burrow got called for a grounding that wasn't. The refs would've won this game then or in overtime. Worst officiated game in NFL history.

If you look at the different angles, Mahomes only fell because their ankles collided. He was tripped. Yeah, he was touching his jersey above the waistline but that wasn't why he fell. I don't get how nobody is noticing this.

Can't beat Mahomes and the refs. MVS reach was not a first down, refs giving KC extra downs, phantom holds. Classic rigged game. 9 penalties vs 4. Bengals are normally a sound football team just not with this officiating crew.
if you ever played football, you would know this is more in the category of running into the kicker where your momentum takes you into the kicker or roughing the qb, where it takes you into the qb. it happens so fast you don't realize your a step out of bounds.
People talk about all the great plays he had on D, but that does not matter. He gets paid a lot of money to make those plays. Thats expected and, quite frankly, is his damn job. He and all the others players can never allow a penalty like that to happen, EVER, much less in the AFC championship game…it cost his team the game full stop.

The commentator says that it would be a long FG attempt for the Chiefs to make from where Mahomes went out of bounds. But Mahomes appeared to have made the first down, and there were still eight seconds left on the clock. The Chiefs still had time to throw a sideline pass for a few yards, stop the clock, and then set up for a shorter FG. The defender's late hit made the FG attempt much shorter.

They say that Butker has made kicks from 70 in practice, but I totally agree that they would have ran a quick sideline pass to make it shorter.

It's laudable that his teammates are supportive of him, but that is the most stupid penalty I've ever seen or heard about at any level of competition. Even pre-teens know that you don't rough a player when he goes out of bounds, especially in a key situation like that! I hope that the coach trades him away, to send a loud message. This will go down in NFL infamy.
It was close. It's really hard for defenders. Mahomes is notorious for tip toeing up the sideline when people let up, I feel like this was a lose lose for the defender.

Exactly ! I enjoy watching him play but I always cringe when he “fakes out” the defender for a few extra yards. The defense is usually pulling back thinking he’s going out but then he weasels out a few more yards. I would imagine the defender gets pissed that he let up on him so as not to draw a penalty and then he does that shit. It’s a chump move.

You didn't need to call it "bonehead." He obviously lost track of where the OOB line was, and he desperately wanted to get Mahomes out of bounds to keep KC out of field goal range. If he would have pushed Mahomes with a bit less force, Mahomes would have stayed on his feet, and no penalty would have been called.
It would have still been called because Mahomes was already out of bounds. Him managing to stay on his feet after the shove wouldn't have mattered. You can't hit out of bounds.

With the game on the line (which the refs knew - - to be sure), they would not have called a penalty if Mahomes had simply stumbled forward (but stayed on his feet) after the OOB push (it wasn't a ''hit"). That seems clear because the flag came out really late - - well after Mahomes had rolled into the bench. At that point the ref had no option - - game on the line or not. P.S. Apparently the author of this video agreed with me since the word "bonehead" was taken out of his comments.
Another overlooked mistake by the bengals: 48 seconds left and they call the time out on offense after a small gain, instead of letting the clock wind or force in Kansas City to take a time out. As soon as they called the time out I knew it was going to cost them.

Except the Bengals lost on the series before, when Burrow was called for a grounding that wasn't. And then when the refs "missed" a clear KC block in the back on the punt return. And a couple of drives before that when there was convenient interfernce call against Cincy that never happened. Yes, history sure did repeat itself.
Went to ASU with Vontaz Burfict. He was a dirty player then and continued with Bengals. Difference with Ossai is that he is a good person. Burfict was an out of control vicious animal. Ossai interview was as heartbreaking to listen as he felt

Stop the video at 1:04. You'll see Ossai's arm fully extended pushing Mahomes to the ground. Yes, he was running fast at him, but this was an avoidable play. Mahomes had nowhere to run but out and he was already out when the full push occured.
If you view it from the sideline POV, Ossai barely touched Mahomes. Mahomes sold it like a soccer player. And he's done it before flopping out of bounds. He did against the Pats in 2020
I love how Football is 15 min qtrs, 30 min half's and 60 min games...And people blame losses on a bad play, call or missed call. You have 60 min to win the ball game.
