I recently read RM's weverse interview - the lyrics of the song are exactly how he describes feeling nowadays saying that he fears that he is starting to run out of creativity at such a young age. Knowing this, the song hits different.
i love how bangtan always comes back with a different sound every damn time, which having the same sound for every album can scare the audience off, but bangtan always switchs up. having the same sound gets reptitive and boring after a while.
That's what I thought too, they literally did every single concept/style out there and I thought they'd run out but damn, they surprise me every single time. Even if you don't like one song there'd still be others that's your jam or if you keep repeating the song you'll grow on it, that plus their amazing stage presence. Listening to this makes me excited for the title track and the rest of the songs 😊

I think it’s sooo cool how they managed to blend their voices so well that we get confused with the lyric videos questioning who sings/raps what because it’s different in other lyric videos. I think that’s the point they were going for. I think they purposely tried to sound as one as much as possible. 🤗

(This might be the case with other songs too but for this one it seems more present) but also the name of the album coming out is Map of the Soul:7 which there are 7 members in BTS, before it was 7 I believe it was going to be Shadow and then it was gonna be Ego but they settled with 7. Which is them as a whole, all together. So yeah, if that makes any sense to read. I’m not very good at explaining my thoughts 🙃
I can't believe people are more worried about their bias' line distribution and they're not paying attention to the beautiful, deep and honest lyrics that this song has. This level of sincerity is the best gift we can receive from this group of amazing talented guys, can you sit for a moment and try to read and understand what they're trying to say? Their music is not a competition of who sings more, their music is an expression of their beings through art, and if you think you're appreciating them the most by memorizing the exact second where they start singing instead of feeling or trying to explore their feelings as a unity, well, I think you should try to be more perceptive of the messages they're sending through their music. And no, I'm not talking about conspiracy theories about their album, I'm talking about how YOU can perceive THEM through their art.

BLACK SWAN no, someone wrote that film in Korean isn’t one syllable like it is in English, so it sounds like filling me now while it’s film me now. In Korean, film is written as (필름) which is pronounced more similarly to filling than film which confused many people. Hope I explained it clearly :)

I love how they utilised quite a simplistic beat and paired it with really raw, deep and emotional lyrics as it gives off this unique and beautiful experience while listening to the song. Bts is always managing to push past and exceed my expectations by bringing something new to the table every single time and I love that about them 🥰

SAKSHI RAINA yeah, even in the last album, some of their songs sounded like they overdid it on the auto tune, but hopefully they’re trying out new sounds, because I love they’re real voices. But this song sounds like they had a reason to sound more electronic in their voices, probably to sound more darker because the theme of their 7 album has darker vibes.

It's a masterpiece
The structure is so complicated, like even after inverting the audio it’s still layered, like you’d have to reinvert and filter the song MULTIPLE times to be able to strip it apart to single voices... and it would still be difficult. I think that is the beauty of the song - the whole thing is them singing on top of each other to give it a mysterious, almost ethereal aura. The problem is because of the layering and blurring effects in the song to create this effect, haters are labelling it as being heavily autotuned WHEN IT ISN’T. What do you guys think?
I don’t think it’s auto tuned at all. Actually it sounds like what you said-they just layered their voices in order to make one sound.
There is auto tune in certain places, but it’s done intentionally to make the voices sound more mechanical in the “do your thang” part. It may be used in other places too, but eh. Point is that auto tune isn’t for those who “can’t sing” but to put in an effect you can’t achieve without a computer
I completely agree! You can tell just by listening to the song that their voices have been layered. There is a little bit of auto tune, but when isn’t there? I absolutely love this song and it just makes me sad that some people can’t appreciate this wonderful work of art.

I think BTS has proved enough to show that they dont need auto-tune. Because they don't. They are using auto-tune not to make themselves sound better, but to give the song a more layered and mysterious vibe.

I get it now. The way we find it kinda hard to identify who's singing some parts, that's the same way they feel trying to identify themselves within. The autotunes and harmonises were done on purpose.
Yeah, using heavy amounts of autotuning is very often a stylistic choice, idk why people take such issue with it assuming it's always trying to "hide their imperfections"
BTS have by far proved their vocal talent by now, they have *nothing* to hide about that. And many groups that use lots of autotune in songs have already proven themselves too. Heavy autotuning is usually an artistic decision and I wish more people could grasp that

This used to happen a lot with me. I've been listening to their songs for five years or so but sometimes, when I listen to one of their old stuff, it is really easy to get confused. I think (something I've had in my mind for a while) that J-Hope is actually the one who sounds more like Suga. Hope was supposed to be part of the vocal line but BH saw potential on him to actually be a great rapper. And they were right. Maybe he learned a lot of vocal techniques with RM and Suga (which I think it's beautiful and very humble of him), that's why sometimes it's easy to misunderstand.

The "Whats my thang" part is them asking themselves, "Is this really what I want to do anymore?" also, the "I open my eyes; it's my studio" represents that he's always in there and maybe he doesnt want to be.
