Like I remember a friend in Jamaica saying all white people look similar. So it mainly has to do with familiarity of traits we are exposed to daily, I guess.

It's easy for some people, mostly racist ones, to ignore the truth or even perpetuate stereotypes when it's at their convenience (justifying their racial superiority, ways of justifying why they are more human than others...). As a European with some Asian friends I can separate my friends easily from other Asians but whenever i'm in China/Vietnam/Korea it's just harder because Asian people all have the same hair color, eye color and facial structure. They are also more around the same height and have the same fashion trends. In Europe and America people have a lot of different eye colors, hair colors and height so it's more easy. That being said, they don't look like eachother but they have a harder time to distinguish themselves from others.

Viet people it is harder because Viets are a mix of countries bordering it (laos, cambodia etc) ...but normally if they are double lidded (the eyes) and a tannish skin they are of the south east variety...some viets look chinese though. Japanese and korean do not look like southeast asian at all.

Really? I can kind of understand it with Asians (esp. East Asians) all thin, pale, black hair, no (visible) tattoos, roughly the same height. But with white people? Redheads, blondes, brunettes, _widely_ varying shapes and sizes, crazy hairstyles, tattooed all over, etc.? It's like all Westerners are kpop idols, minus the Korean part. xD

I mean, I understand that caucasians think all asians look alike and think thats the correct logic, but it's just not true. Asians think all white, caucasians look alike as well, just the way you think of asians. It's just because people are not used to other races near their area, which causes these dumb stereotypes of how all same races look alike. I mean, it might look alike to some individuals and we need to respect each individuals, but the way how you are stating that asian's thoughts of white people looking alike is wrong, I dont think you have the right to say that. I can only see your actions as you trying to idealize your beliefs, which is pathetic. Just as an FYI

Cool that no one was made to feel stupid. This has always been a pretty delicate situation to talk about. They handled it really well with humor. Interesting results.
It's so easy for me to tell the difference between Asians. The reason they "look alike" dates back in the B.C ara where Asians have intenious faces. So because of the young-looking appearnece, they can all seem to take on similar facial features. But really think about it, how are twins told apart? Special facial features despite looking alike. Now, again, I can telk asains apart. Pay special attentionn to nose, strusture of the face, lip shape etc. I know when meeting someone knew, you only have so much time to examine what you can but I would say it's pretty obvious due to face shape and structure of the nose which always stands out to me most
