Oh, what a lovely wedding, honoring Jesus! To God be the glory. I also watched your testimonies on another video. Katie, my history is a lot like yours. I'm now 53, so I've had a lot of time with the Lord to walk me through forgiveness and repentance. My parents divorced when I was a baby, so I don't remember ever living with my dad. When I was seven, he remarried and had two more daughters. Seeing his connection with them and feeling abandonment (even though I saw him every other weekend) led me to serious self doubt and a very low self worth. It was hard to believe God loved me. I have an older sister who was cruel to me so maybe some abandonment feelings came from her. What got me on a track of forgiveness was the book The 5 Love Languages. I was in my 30's at the time. The questions at the back of the book really shook me. One question I remember was, "Look back on your childhood. Did you feel adequately loved by your parents? How did they express love? " The next question was, " Make a list of your parents failures and successes in conveying affection and affirmation..." Wow, these questions and praying sent me down a road of realizing truth, forgiveness, healing and renewed relationship with my dad. Today he is 80 and doing very well. He is healthy and I'm so grateful. My mom passed in January, so I'm grateful for any time I get with my dad. I just really appreciate your sharing. I pray that many many young girls will see that even in the darkest times of your life, God is there and He will use the pain to bless you in the future for His glory!
