I think the first time sm actually did something similar to explain a group's lore is for nct's dream/reality concept with all of the nct the origin and nctmentary videos. But this time, sm used the whole aespa's concept as an introductory to the whole SM Culture Universe

First of all, we must know that the entire SM world is based on EXO. They are the first group with concept, planet and all those things. The entire origin of life of SM beings is explained in the beginning of MAMA, even the flower with the butterfly that also appears in Black Mamba appears. It is the flower from which girls emerge.
It is said that the girl at the beginning could be Red Velvet's Seulgi because she is connected to the MV "Monster", where in her live performance, a large black snake appears on the screen.
The dimension seen below is the one Kai opens in MMMH trying to find the other EXO members, if you look closely, the atmosphere is the same as Kai's MV.
Giselle in the class encloses the word "Velour", it means velvet, which comes from Red Velvet. Above it says villain.
The butterfly Ningning draws goes through all of SM's MVs since EXO's MAMA, MAMA is the origin.
Karina's part is the most important, it is connected first with the ending of Power of EXO, where Baekhyun falls into the water after creating the eclipse (remember that his superpower is light) to return the powers to the other EXO members. Apparently a portal opens at that moment. He is also connected to Wendy's "Like Water" MV.
Later, it is confirmed that Karina is apparently influenced or possessed by the Red Force, perhaps betraying her companions. We should know that the concept of Aespa is especially connected to that of EXO (Black Mamba and Obsession). We know that Aespa girls are born from a bud, from a flower, a flower that appears in EXO's MAMA and a garden where the girls are in Black Mamba.
Apparently, the Aespa girls were born in EXO PLANET, which is why their concepts are especially connected. They go through the same story as EXO: they are cloned, influenced by the red force, one member possibly betrays the others.
And well the theories of EXO, we better not talk about it lol, our head will explode. The 26th is the blood moon, a total lunar eclipse, people think that day the first teaser for Don´t Fight The Feeling will be released.

Well they actually did some videos for NCT's concept too. The first 3 videos from their debut days (2016), a NCTmentary series of 5 videos to introduce Empathy (2018) and we got The Past and The Future: Ether for Resonance era (2020).
For NCT it always happens when they reunite as NCT U basically.
EXO have a huge universe too but we don't have that kind of video. Their story line is included in all their MVs but not in chronological order.

You should watch EXO's VCRs since their concepts are shown there. They also have "Story of the Past" which showed why they came to the Earth and showed their lives on the Earth from hundreds of years ago

This is not the first time sm did a concept explanation as far as I know in nct there is a video and in exo the mama mv kinda explained what,who,why exo began which is also seen in earlier mv's of exo

As with all the groups under SM Entertainment, their storylines and concepts are all part of SM's Universe, including aespa's storyline. It is even speculated that aespa's story connects to EXO's and SuperM's storylines. I think SM has set it up so that at least all of their third generation groups -- and now even fourth gen. groups, with the introduction of aespa -- have storylines that connect, link together and intertwine. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together there are threads of connections between the groups.
SM has been doing these elaborate storylines and explanation story videos since EXO's debut. They have only gotten more elaborate over the years as technology has changed and made it it possible for them to really display their concepts more fully, but it all started with EXO's pre-debut teaser videos, then we got "Mama's" epic story MVs, then we had EXO's Pathcode teasers, and concert VCR stories, etc. Then when NCT debuted they had a whole story-based video as part of their debut showcase and their NCTmentary videos, and now aespa's drama episodes. I'm sure I am missing somethings in between, but my point is SM has always had epic concepts and done "movie"-style videos like this.
To understand how all of SM's groups are connected, you first need to keep in mind that it all began with EXO's concept. As you know, EXO are aliens from Planet Exo who have been sent to Earth on a mission to find and protect the Tree of Life from the Red Force, while also trying to fix all the things that are going wrong in the world, which are believed to be caused by the Red Force. The Red Force is thought to be here on Earth inflicting their evil agenda -- corrupting humanity and causing all the bad things that are happening in the world, such as war, hate and destruction of the environment, etc. And because EXO is trying to undo and prevent the Red Force from accomplishing their goals, the Red Force is also trying to take down EXO by capturing them, corrupting them and standing in their way, etc.
Some theories even believe that Red Velvet is connected to EXO's storyline. Some think that Red Velvet, EXO's sister group, could be the Red Force.
As you also know, SuperM is the Kpop industry's very first supergroup which debuted in October 2019 and their concept and storyline is centered around the fact that they are Avengers-like superheros, so SuperM is the group that pretty much connects everything together. As part of EXO's story, Baekhyun and Kai -- who are members of EXO -- have recruited members from SM Entertainment's other male Kpop groups -- Taemin from SHINee, Taeyong and Mark from NCT and Ten and Lucas from WayV -- and formed SuperM, to help them battle the Red Force.
SuperM are considered the Avengers of Kpop because the group is so multi-talented, with some of the most influential idols in the industry, representing multiple nationalities and Kpop generations, who are poised to take over the world.
It is said that the concept for SuperM is supposed to be like the Avengers, so, I see it as each of the members are a different kind of superhero that make up the larger "Avengers" group, just like how the Marvel Avenger members come together from all walks of life with all different abilities and powers, etc. to make up one big supergroup.
And If the SuperM Avengers are coming together to help EXO stop the Red Force, I think the members who are part of SuperM are the liaisons who are helping to connect all the groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT/WayV -- together.
Also, just like how the Marvel Avengers come together to combine their strengths and powers to help fight Thanos, I see parallels with what SM is doing with SuperM's storyline. SuperM is taking the "best" members from each group and joining forces to take down the Red Force. And just like how the movies "Avengers Identity War" and "Avengers Endgame" eventually had each of the Marvel Avengers members recruiting their whole crew to help in the fight, I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight.
Theories have also speculated that NCT's/WayV's dream concept and storyline also connects to EXO's storyline. As with everything NCT does, it all has to do with dreams, dreaming or something to do with being in a dream state, which could very easily connect to EXO's other world and other dimension theories.
Now, to explain how aespa is connected to the story. aespa debuted in November, so "Next Level" is their second MV. And I think "Next Level" tells aespa's backstory and explains a lot of what we saw happening in their debut MV "Black Mamba."
aespa was first introduced to the world in a teaser at the end of SuperM's "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV last year -- about a week or so before aespa's debut. In the last scene of the "One (Monster & Infinity)" MV, we see Taemin with an LG phone and on the phone screen there is a symbol that appears. At the time, when that MV was released, we had no idea what that meant. However, soon after that, we discovered that the symbol you see on Taemin's phone -- ae -- is the logo/symbol for aespa. So, on top of being a teaser for aespa's debut, I think by making aespa a part of SuperM's MV, this was SM's way of establishing aespa's connection to SuperM's/EXO's storyline.
Will aespa eventually join forces with EXO to defeat evil or will the Black Mamba gain control and cause aespa to team up with (Red Velvet?) and become members of the Red Force? We will just have to wait to see how SM connects the dots and draws the storylines together. But I have a feeling that, eventually, aespa's story will connect to SuperM's story, and, along the way, also EXO, NCT and Red Velvet's storyline, and maybe Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee. (Even though SHINee are a second generation group, the members actually fit within the age range of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen.)
aespa's story is just another one of SM's epic concepts and mysteries that we will have to wait and see where it takes us.

To answer your question about other SM groups having a video like this to explore the group's concept, both SuperM and NCT have had a short series of videos that are very artsy, dystopian, and even philosophical to explore their group concepts. For SuperM, there was a mastermind behind everything going on in the individual member videos, and that mastermind was Taemin, who was presented as like a villain or a puppetmaster. He even created an evil version of Taeyong to assassinate the other Taeyong, but it is speculated that he was simply putting the members through trials to challenge them, not to kill them.
The NCT videos go deeper into the philosophy of dreams connecting to one another. They also bring up the concept of "ether" (also spelled aether), which in Greek mythology, is the air that gods breathe that fills the space of the universe. In the video, "ether" is described as the sea of unconsciousness, which is the realm that can connect people to people, dream to dream, dimension to dimension. The visuals in those videos are absolutely incredible. They're also really cool to watch, like with the SuperM videos.
The main thing that makes Æspa's video stand out is that it is the start of an official SM shared universe, and acts as a teaser for that. It may connect to things explored in past group videos, as with NCT's themes of ether and synchronization of dreams, but from here on out, SM will create new things to connect the groups to each other. NCT U, SuperM, and Æspa are the only connected groups so far.

Hi Jeff! For NCT, they also released concept videos back in 2016. You can start with SM_NCT #1 The Origin then #2 Synchronization of your dreams and #3 called 7th Sense. They eventually released NCTmentary which further explained NCT's universe. SM did the same thing for EXO back in 2012 when they released track teasers per member, explaining EXO's universe.

SM is a whole another universe than any other companies. Idk whose behind these crazy ideas but it's freakin amazinggggg. Taemin is the main antagonist, other sm groups always have white sm logo in the end, but on Taemin Want, Advice and Criminal teaser he has the red sm logo

so here's a theory that i have in mind.
Kwangya which is the world that the SM made. So if you'll watch the Naughty episode at the end you can see Irene and Seulgi are walking while like a "world" was created which i think its the "KWANGYA" so Irene and Seulgi are the one's who created kwangya then if you have also watched kai's hmm mv you'll see he's in a world that seems like the world that Irene and Seulgi made so i think that Kai is the one who's guarding/the one who opens the world then the ae's need to go to the human world they need to go to Kwangya but in order to get they they need naevis to open the portal so there are speculations that Irene and Seulgi did go to different paths so I think that Seulgi is naevis while Irene can be the black mamba?

Theres a theory that Red Velvet are evil in this Universe. From being serial killers in Peek A Boo, Evil Ghosts in Psycho, Killing each other in Russian Roulette and the most obvious of all is Irene during Monster and Naughty. She is the one controlling Seulgi and at the end of Naughty Music video when they were parting ways, they seem to be in KWANGYA. Irene during interview said that particular scene has a meaning behind it and its a spoiler. All SM artists are all connected

I think the most extravagant SM do with a teaser was for 2015 Exo Call Me Baby Era were they do the teaser Pathcode for individual members through unveling the members country location that form into the word Call Me Baby and if you connect the location of each city they represent it will form as the logo of Exo. That's why Suho said that before SM made effort for them to shoot outside Korea but now they all do was a studio film MV that they never deserve for the value they give to that company.

There is a version in nct called Nctmentary they are short and a bit complicated but explain nct but they went off on aespa i love it!
