I can definitely tell in this trailer he’s still young mentally. He hasn’t had a lot of the experience of dealing with the worst of Gotham. This Batman is teetering on the edge of going too far… and I love it.
@Neelansh Mishra it’s just a different iteration, the best Batman comics had completely different takes on the character as well. Just try to see it as it’s own thing & judge it that way

I love that angle for an early Batman, he’s only just starting, he isn’t the perfect Batman that we see in justice league movies etc. He’s raw and angry and that’s such a cool angle
Yep. The scene with the Riddler where he punches the glass and says 'Why didn't you die' looks like he's frustrated and on the edge. That gives me the chills more than anything in the trailer.

This actually looks like a Batman that would strike fear into the villains heart. Which is the whole point of Batman, he created a persona that would make the villains feel the way he felt going down that alley with his parents. Give them a taste of their own medicine...
I really like the use of red in this trailer and how Batman looks like he’s constantly on edge, it really feels like he’s a ticking time bomb and needs people like Alfred and Selina Kyle.

Paul Dano is such a underrated actor and i love everything he is in, he is well deserving of this role, which is his biggest yet and i can't wait for it.
Selinas reaction when bruce is beating the shit out of the criminal is horrifying and tangible; Matt reeves is truly showing how batman uses fear to paralyze those around him long before it gets physical..if they hit the detective beats right this could be one of the greats
I was actually hoping Jeremy would talk about this. That was the best part of the entire trailer. Shows that Selina was legit scared that the dude might lose his shit and come for her someday.

Almost everyone who has seen this is really hyped and there's really no negative reception so far. Batman fans, we have something magnificent and possibly legendary to look forward to!

Dude, the way he was absolutely demolishing that criminal while Selina watched in actual horror, I mean, it looked like he couldn't hold himself back if he tried- The tone, and the setting of this movie, they clearly have an idea of what they're doing here and there's no corner cutting when it comes to it- I struggle with mental health issues myself and to see them attack that here is breathtaking, truly brought a tear to my eye the way they're humanizing Batman here, really makes you respect what he inevitably molds himself into, where he leaves Bruce Wayne broken and focuses all of his energy on Batman, almost makes me a bit jealous Apart from the mental health of Batman there's a lot of other insane shit going on, this dark noir detective setting they have going on? How it appears that we'll literally be unfolding the mystery as Batman does - This could easily be peak Batman in cinema if its every bit as good as it looks
This is why I love Matt Reeves as a director. He’s able to showcase a main character’s personal struggles in the midst of large-scale conflicts really well. It’s a style that’s absolutely perfect for Batman.

i love this guy. the way he talks. the way he adds humour. the excitement he has while talking about movies or trailers in this case just shows how much he loves what he does and when someone loves something they're doing ultimately end up making us feel really good.
@@decoderhacker4062 3 hrs & 10 mins. Apparently, but that’s not set in stone. It’s either that or very close to three hours. Although, rotten tomatoes says 2hrs and 24 mins, which will be a little disappointing after a multitude of sources saying it is/nearly is 3 hours.
I think the version of Riddler from the 2000s animated series "The Batman" is one of my favorite interpretations of him. It's so underrated. And it's underrated because he looks fuckin' goofy as shit (He looks like he listens exclusively to Kiss, Marilyn Manson, and Alice Cooper, probably LOVED the wrestler Sting), but he's ACTUALLY written well.
That's the only Riddler I'm not a fan of. Everything else in that series is S tier though. Seriously. Perfect Batman, perfect Robin, perfect Batgirl, Gordan, Freeze, Joker, Harley, Justice League, Clayfaces, and very well written with good humor.
I love the unique and terrifying interpretation that they are doing with the Riddler. Reminds me of John Doe from SE7EN. I hope this Batman trilogy can give the same kind of treatment to my boy Scarecrow. He deserves a chance to shine as the main antagonist.
I was always a bit disappointed how Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow was so underutilized in the Nolan flicks. Such a great actor, such a great character, but it always felt like ... his part in all of it was cut to be shorter than intended

@@Domination1799 Murphy's Scarecrow was one of my favorite characters from the Nolan trilogy. I agree he was way too underutilized. I mean i get it; he was acting as an ambassador/enforcer for Ras and the League, but I still would have loved to see more of him.
@@TheBabylonBurning Crane definitely deserves to be the main antagonist of one of the films. Arkham Knight proved this notion. He’s so unnerving and twisted in that game. After seeing what they are doing with the Riddler in the upcoming film, I think Crane could use the same kind of reinterpretation. I always envisioned him as a Hannibal Lector esque character, a person who comes off as very friendly and charismatic but deep down is just a creature of pure malice. I would love a Batman film that’s a surreal psychological thriller with Scarecrow as the antagonist.

I feel it is finally that balance that we've always wanted, Tim Burton's dark tone mixed in with the gritty realism of Nolan's trilogy. Either or, I'm sold!👏👌
I mean to each their own, I personally hated Gotham. I like the direction of this Riddler, doesn't need to be comic accurate, just needs to be engaging. He's a straight up serial killer, which gives him plenty of reasons for leaving clues and calling cards.

For some reason this young and angry Batman seems even more brutal than old and angry Batfleck. Even though we don't actually see him kill anyone, something about him just tells us that he's unstable, reckless, full of rage, and an inch from going completely out of control. I'm interested to see how he evolves throughout the film into the more calm and calculating Batman.
Becsuse old angry bruce uses a lot of flair to execute his moves while this batman is physically beating ppl directly. The camera being focused on others with just the sound of the beating also highlights this

This is the first time I ever felt legit fear TOWARDS Batman. Like every past rendition, you don't really feel afraid of him while he's in the suit, but this one, if I was a bad guy, I'd be sh*tting my pants and playing dead if I saw him coming towards me.

So . . . Arkham Knight? Sequel to Arkham City Se7en style murder mystery And the Batmobile. Excuse me, I gotta load up Arkham Knight and play it for a couple of hours.
I wonder if he looks at every killer as he's parents murderer, like he has to restrain himself from killing them because he knows if he kills one it will be over for them and him. He won't stop at that point. He looks frustrated like he wants to hurt them so badly, more than he needs to to put them down. But he doesnt.
There is a shot in this scene where Bruce is figuring out a riddle and he has written somethings on the floor with a chalk. One of them said," Sins of my Father?". I'm surprised no one understood that reference but in the first trailer Riddler teased Batman saying that "if you are justice, what is the price of your blind eye?" And it put a lot of emphasis on "no more lies". The Sins of the father and the other two things indicate they are going to follow the telltale Batman storyline. In that universe, Thomas Wayne was a gangster and was working with falcone and runs the city of Gotham. Bruce didn't know about this and it crushed him when he figured this out. It made him question his core values about justice and what is the point of being Batman if his own parents were scumbags who killed innocent people. Even Alfred hides this thing from Bruce which creates even more tension. And most of the villians' in that Gotham universe origin story was somewhat related to the crimes of Thomas Wayne. Now imagine how awesome this movie would be if this turns out be the plotline.

Batman has been done countless times and it's welcome (at least to me) when they add more complexity to not only him, but those that stay forever in the background. That's why Flashpoint's switch with his father/mother (Batman/Joker) was so surprising. But why stop at gangster threading when allusions to an association with the Court of Owls would be even more interesting to pick at?
I do like the portrayal but at times, he could've been depicted smarter. Though that's on the script, not his acting performance, which he played damn great

Is it possible the man who's arrested at the beginning of the trailer isn't actually Edward Nashton but a lookalike or decoy of some sort? Considering they never show his face, I think there's definitely a chance it's not actually Paul Dano in those scenes.
I do kinda like the idea though that he gets caught (deliberately) but has already planned everything and set things in motion. That'd be the riddler's ego and pride in his work in full display as well as depict the brilliance of a full scenario of mayhem and riddles planned ahead. THOUGH, it might be, yeah. It's a good thought
Idk if it’s been brought up but I find it funny how Colin Ferrel has played the secondary antagonist in a superhero movie outside their main universes with both actors having portrayed Batman at some point.
Such a good trailer. Gets you hyped by shows close to nothing about what's happening in the story. I really liked the Nightmare Alley teaser too, it did a good job of giving you pieces to chew on but not the whole meal.

This is the most PISSED OFF Batman I think I’ve ever seen!!! You can feel how his overwhelming rage is. He doesn’t kill, he beats them so badly the bad guys wish for a quick and painless death. The look Selina gave to Batman when he is pummeling that guy, he looks like he will ground and pound you until there is literally nothing left but a red smear. I asked for a movie that looks like The Dark Knight meets Se7en and I got it.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I'm digging The Crow Batman. Yes, this movie reminds of The Crow: dark, gritty, violent, and dangerous and this Batman is as moody as the Crow. Can't wait to see it.
As a lifelong DC fan I just hope folks don't start to bandwagon after this. I'm really sick of the DC/Marvel war and after the last 5 years of relentless DC slander I hope people can just let the film stand on its own. i love this guy. the way he talks. the way he adds humour. the excitement he has while talking about movies or trailers in this case just shows how much he loves what he does and when someone loves something they're doing ultimately end up making us feel really good.

I think the version of Riddler from the 2000s animated series "The Batman" is one of my favorite interpretations of him. It's so underrated. And it's underrated because he looks fuckin' goofy as shit (He looks like he listens exclusively to Kiss, Marilyn Manson, and Alice Cooper, probably LOVED the wrestler Sting), but he's ACTUALLY written well.
What makes that version of Riddler more outrageous is he's voiced by Robert Englund, AKA Freddy Kruger
The Riddler with the long black hair? Yeah I like that design- it's pretty unique. That cartoon show was so good as well with awesome opening music.
Can we all agree Jim Carry didn’t work as the Riddler? Maybe if you saw the film and you were 7 you thought it was good.
Batman Animated Series was from the 90s. Unless you're talking about Brave and the Bold, which came out later (also, less dark than the 90s one).
That's the only Riddler I'm not a fan of. Everything else in that series is S tier though. Seriously. Perfect Batman, perfect Robin, perfect Batgirl, Gordan, Freeze, Joker, Harley, Justice League, Clayfaces, and very well written with good humor.

I was always a bit disappointed how Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow was so underutilized in the Nolan flicks. Such a great actor, such a great character, but it always felt like ... his part in all of it was cut to be shorter than intended

@@Domination1799 Murphy's Scarecrow was one of my favorite characters from the Nolan trilogy. I agree he was way too underutilized. I mean i get it; he was acting as an ambassador/enforcer for Ras and the League, but I still would have loved to see more of him.

After seeing what they are doing with the Riddler in the upcoming film, I think Crane could use the same kind of reinterpretation. I always envisioned him as a Hannibal Lector esque character, a person who comes off as very friendly and charismatic but deep down is just a creature of pure malice.
I would love a Batman film that’s a surreal psychological thriller with Scarecrow as the antagonist.

The Riddler on GOTHAM, played by Cory Michael Smith, is my absolute favorite, comic-accurate live action Riddler. Paul Dano’s gonna crush it though!
worked on a few episodes on Gotham with Cory. Great guy and looked after the background actors to complete a scene for the show.
I mean to each their own, I personally hated Gotham. I like the direction of this Riddler, doesn't need to be comic accurate, just needs to be engaging. He's a straight up serial killer, which gives him plenty of reasons for leaving clues and calling cards.

For some reason this young and angry Batman seems even more brutal than old and angry Batfleck. Even though we don't actually see him kill anyone, something about him just tells us that he's unstable, reckless, full of rage, and an inch from going completely out of control. I'm interested to see how he evolves throughout the film into the more calm and calculating Batman.
Becsuse old angry bruce uses a lot of flair to execute his moves while this batman is physically beating ppl directly. The camera being focused on others with just the sound of the beating also highlights this

This is the first time I ever felt legit fear TOWARDS Batman. Like every past rendition, you don't really feel afraid of him while he's in the suit, but this one, if I was a bad guy, I'd be sh*tting my pants and playing dead if I saw him coming towards me.

Small details like this that are easy to miss but once you realize …wow this is gonna be amazing
I wonder if he looks at every killer as he's parents murderer, like he has to restrain himself from killing them because he knows if he kills one it will be over for them and him. He won't stop at that point. He looks frustrated like he wants to hurt them so badly, more than he needs to to put them down. But he doesnt.
There is a shot in this scene where Bruce is figuring out a riddle and he has written somethings on the floor with a chalk. One of them said," Sins of my Father?".
I'm surprised no one understood that reference but in the first trailer Riddler teased Batman saying that "if you are justice, what is the price of your blind eye?" And it put a lot of emphasis on "no more lies".
The Sins of the father and the other two things indicate they are going to follow the telltale Batman storyline. In that universe, Thomas Wayne was a gangster and was working with falcone and runs the city of Gotham. Bruce didn't know about this and it crushed him when he figured this out. It made him question his core values about justice and what is the point of being Batman if his own parents were scumbags who killed innocent people. Even Alfred hides this thing from Bruce which creates even more tension. And most of the villians' in that Gotham universe origin story was somewhat related to the crimes of Thomas Wayne.
Now imagine how awesome this movie would be if this turns out be the plotline.

Batman has been done countless times and it's welcome (at least to me) when they add more complexity to not only him, but those that stay forever in the background. That's why Flashpoint's switch with his father/mother (Batman/Joker) was so surprising. But why stop at gangster threading when allusions to an association with the Court of Owls would be even more interesting to pick at?

To be fair, Cory Michael Smith was an amazing live-action Riddler in Gotham.
I do like the portrayal but at times, he could've been depicted smarter. Though that's on the script, not his acting performance, which he played damn great

Such a good trailer. Gets you hyped by shows close to nothing about what's happening in the story. I really liked the Nightmare Alley teaser too, it did a good job of giving you pieces to chew on but not the whole meal.

This is the most PISSED OFF Batman I think I’ve ever seen!!! You can feel how his overwhelming rage is. He doesn’t kill, he beats them so badly the bad guys wish for a quick and painless death.
