Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Durability Test - Fake Folding Glass?!

- Today we find out how durable Samsungs new Galaxy Z Fold really is. Grab your Robot Camo dbrand skin HERE: dbrand.com/robotcamo Samsung has pitched this phone as a folding glass phone that ‘bends the laws of physics’ But… is folding glass actually possible? The only way to find out is with a scratch test. Overall I’m impressed with the Galaxy Z Flip. If they change the name of their screen material to something besides glass I would give it a 10/10 as far as folding phones go. The only physical characteristic this screen material shares with actual glass is the clarity. And I dont think thats fair to consumers. At all. Let me know what you think in the comments.

Glass is glass, and glass breaks
Galaxy Z Flip and Motorola lasers do not need to be scratch tested.
Because the screen folds in.
Joe Rogan Experience?
From what I’ve found samsung did say (bf it launched) that they used ultra thin glass(30µm) but the touch layer is plastic. The inner layer is true glass(30µm), the scratch is from protective film(PET film which is plastic) which covers glass, bc glass is strong from scratches but when impacted hard it breaks.
Then why use glass anyway until everything is well set....🤔

@@marv9906 Is Pyrex unbreakable?
It isn't completely unbreakable, but it is sturdier than regular soda lime glass. In fact, this is the process that was used to invent the common household bake ware Pyrex. Borosilicate glass is also used for lab equipment.
Marv Pyrex is easy to break...

Well I mean it is a full faced lie so it's arguably justified rage.
Edit:
While the phone does have a glass under screen it still doesn't stack up to the expectations we have of glass in a phone. You expect it to be at least a bit more if not significantly more durable then plastic screens which in this case is not true.
@@sidmas-zj5eu I understand your point but the phone is marketed as having a glass screen, albeit an ultra thin one. Because of this people expect to have the same protection glass provides.
sid mas The outlayer is covered with plastic with a inner ultra thin glass under it, therefore your statement doesn't make sense, his scratching plastic not glass, even if the glass is ultra thin it shouldn't get scratch at level 2 nor level 3. Glass is made from silicates. Sand. With different additives to give it different properties.

By that logic, *”bulletproof glass is not glass” just because it has different properties than regular window glass.*

He makes his money back and more from the video along. Spend money to make money.
@ella scurr He doesn't do these tests for nothing he does this to show the durability and how much our electronics can withstand, and also show if the companies are being misleading with what they say. Some people determine whether they should buy something on not only the performance but also the durability and how long it'll last. Call it a waste all you want but he really is saving people from buying things like this.
Perhaps in some cases he specifically does not need to do destructive tests, but *someone* does. Simply relying on marketing is not prudent; we need someone, or ideally a few people to have a sample size > 1, to test manufacturers' claims as well as durability in general.
It *is* truly a waste of a phone if one's tests are haphazard or inconclusive, but in my opinion JerryRigEverything does a fair job of getting useful information from his tests.
I will say however, that the dust/rock ingress test should have been done before the bend testing - also, it would be better to test with small amounts of dust first, and work up in amount and size before trying to close it on a handful of small rocks, which is unlikely to ever happen in normal use.
