- Last year I went super minimalist in our master bedroom, and we’ve been loving it! The only thing I’d been wanting to add was a large shelf for plants and books and such, in order to bring a big more warmth to the space. Here’s a simple DIY description of the process!

A headboard would also look nice and center the bed. But the shelf was great, I loved the decor.
Great idea. Bringing your bed up onto a frame, two night stands with small lamps, and take away a couple plants and replace with a few family pictures would make it balance. You are such a creative person!❤️👍🏻. Keep sharing your ideas!
You never cease to amaze me! There’s no way I could just by “wood” and make something from it! Lol it ended up looking great! I bet you could even make a headboard yourself!

I would move the bed to aline with the shelve..but that's just me...oh and that big fat vase with a plant kinda scary if it'll fall on someone's head lol

You could make a platform and heat board to match your new shelf? You’re talented enough to do it! I think it would really tie the room together! They had a real large bed there, with a headboard and legs, but got rid of it so that it would be lower and the kids could climb in and out easier.

I think there's a difference between being minimal vs. intentionally minimal. The space feels so empty and would look nice with simple nightstands on either side. I do agree the shelf needs to move over one more stud and be centered on the wall and with the bed...
I cant live without a nightstand, holds my lamp, my book, my ipad, my drink, my clock, my cellphone..gotta have a nightstand-realistically

That red rug you had that joy didn’t like in her house would be great to add color to your room.
But that rug was actually meant for their church and in another video they renovated their church nursery and placed the rug there already 😊

Great job! Glad u have the skills to make your vision happen. Gotta admit I always freak out whenever I see heavy things above the bed, but I think that’s just cuz I’m extra aware of the potential of them falling during an earthquake. I have to remember not everyone has those! Lol

Y’all could totally add another bedroom off your room. Take the half by the door, make a hallway then add on to the house for another room.
Or, just build a second story, would be much larger and cheaper to go up
there is a covered garage area off the kitchen. The easiest would be to just frame that in make it the master and have these two as kids rooms. It also saves money if they want a second bathroom since the water is already close in the kitchen. But they lived in this house as kids with like 10 kids. SO im sure they are used to it.
@@melissamiermaster8089 that was actually a different house they lived in before and it was already torn down as shown during Joseph's courtship, i think this house was just one of jimbob's rental houses that jessa and ben eventually bought 😊

Take a piece of MDF the width of the width of your bed by 2 feet tall. Take some cotton batting and glue it to one side, then take whatever fabric you like to upholster on the batting, and staple the fabric nice and tight to the backside. You can get a cleat at a big box hardware store that you screw to the back of the headboard, and the other part to the wall above your bed. You just slide your headboard onto the cleat and there you have it! I made two of these for a twin size beds that did not have headboards. You are so handy, I'm sure you can do it easily!

When I was growing up in the sixties , my parents had a headboard That had a shelf the whole length where you could put Knick knacks etc and at each end of the shelf was a sliding 15" door That you could put items in there to keep out of sight. It was the most amazing& convenient headboard and I wish they made more like this but for some reason they don't they've gone out of style. But they are so convenient to have especially in a small Room where you don't want to put nightstand next to beds you could just use the Headboard for items.
My grandparents had a headboard like this. Inside the sliding door was a hidden light switch! It was so cool
