The song also has references to a short story “The Ones Who Walk Way from Omelas" by Ursula LeGuin. The story is about a utopia where everything is perfect and wonderful and people are happy. The place is called Omelas. A sign is seen in the music video with a neon glowing sign “OMELAS”. In order for everyone to be happy and have fun, one child needs to be kept in complete darkness and in complete misery. The members are a reflection of those abandoned and forgotten in the music video. This is one of my favorite songs and definitely one I’ve used to heal. BTS has many songs that have helped fans, even if they are in Korean I can very much understand the feel and emotions as music is universal and transcends languages. BTS is one of the biggest motivators in my life to go above and beyond, they are not just a K-Pop group and have surpassed that.
