God, that zoo was so depressing, the enclosures were nowhere near big enough for those poor animals, they have nowhere to hide, and there's not enough mental stimulation. The reason the meerkat kept pacing was zoochosis, a form of psychosis that develops in wild animals held captive in zoos, and it manifests in obsessive, repetitive actions that serve no purpose. 😭

The gate is kinda low for the jackal, it could jump right over.

Honesty, I really enjoy watching your videos and I like seeing you travel. But at this video I had to gringe. I am sorry, but the reason why the meerkat was running back and forth, over and over again, was simply because it was locked in an enclosure. An much, much, much too small one on top of that. Please consider that these animals are having a complex lifestyle and social structures in free nature, they live in large family groups within an territory of several square kilometers. Every member of these family has it´s own "job", it´s own task to fullfill to help it´s family to survive the day. They are raising their cubs together and teaching them everything what they need, for every situation their got their own "teacher" who teaches different lessons and helps the cubs learn. They even hunt and eat poisinous rattlesnakes!
In this zoo is nothing like that. They don´t need anything of this, neither this tiny enclosure nor people who are watching them. Please take this to your heart and don´t visit those places, don´t support zoos who are locking wild animals behind not species appropriate fences. Species appropriate is only one thing, the free nature. This is where they belong. I really don´t want to insult or attack you, just think about it. That is the first step.
