Judging from behind the scenes videos, the rest of the band absolutely hates making music videos. So I guess they just let Adam do what ever the hell he wants.

Easiest way to not like a maroon 5 song no matter how catchy if is:
Step 1: read the lyrics
Step 2: watch the music video

I really like memories for how catchy it is, but when I read the lyrics, I just can't. "Now my heart feel like December when somebody say your name." This is lyrically just so dumb and also grammatically incorrect (which wouldn't be a problem per se, but it's just another thing.) Also, the music video is literally just a close up of his face, like *very* close up, that just slowly backs up. He's also shirtless for some reason.
@@spaghettiman3757 He didn't even write most of that one, Jon Bellion did, which explains the rap-style lyrics. Adam Levine should've declined that song, ballads and slow songs are not for him at all.
Or just listen to it. Adam Levine’s voice is the worst sound I’ve ever heard. The melodies are trash, too.

Going through Joel’s back catalogue of amazing videos like this makes you really appreciate his newfound success. This channel was a sleeping giant and I’m glad he’s reaping the rewards now.
I really can't believe how well you convince the viewer you aren't filming alone. It's on par with some of the great vinestars that have boomed on youtube. I think that may be the underlying root of your success on the algorithm.
