Thanks for the share Phil, I hope everyone enjoys! I've got a great one coming out tomorrow, consider sticking around!
Congrats on being "Secret Link of the Day!"
@@bondservant4jesus Now Joel is the one doing the secret links!
@@Xbob42 Didn't know that. Thanks. :)
His mum plays "disappointed" a little too well, dont you think
That was before your boy over there was a freaking KRplus star in the making...
"Lover's wanna love, haters wanna hate, I don't even want none of the above I want to **##*#*##*#*#* on you"
Plays?
@@magazinekirby mums?
I'm sure she's had a lot of practice over the years with her weird son.
You think she plays? Lmao
Pro Tip: watch this video with closed captioning ON - that way it's like watching the movie Parasite!!!
WHOA!
Oh my god, their speaking Korean now!
I had to keep on pausing to read the subtitles
yeah, its like watching that one movie called "thor:the dark world"
I didn’t even realize I had it on until you said that. I always have them on
More people need to know what you're doing here. I don't mean the police necessarily but I don't necessarily mean not the police. Viewers, is what I'm sayin'.
ACAB
I like this way of words
All I was saying is that people should be made aware what is going on at his house, so they don't miss anything critical.

This deserves best short about a movie at the Movie Awards
this is NOT the greatest short in the world, but a tribute.
Award.... You forgot to say award at the end
my basement flooded this summer, and on the one hand it was a complete mess and a pain to deal with, but on the other hand, it really made me FEEL like Parasite (2019, dir. Bong Joon-ho)
Left my bathtub going overnight to simulate this exact experience. Then I watched the movie in two feet of water. Nothing short of immersive.
I bashed in my own head with a rock until all I could do was laugh before I watched it last. Best viewing experience of my life and wrong brain with is gnihton damage no
@@Joel-Haver If you had waited a little longer one could even claim the experience to be submersive
This is so metaphorical. 😁
This is the kind of dedication shown in the character of Thor in the movie Thor: The Dark World
This is relatable because my girlfriend also grew distant and I AM a parasite.
Joel has done it again.
This was edited like Parasite the movie.
The dark world
@@MrChoklad you like that movie?
@@pianostuff2731 very much
This was edited like Parasite the anime. *
That's the point
Just realized that Trent has one of the kindest faces in the world. Like that friend that tells you "Everything will be alright" and you believe him 100%
Ending with Ode to Joy? This is definitely a Korean film.
All the music here came from Beethoven's 9th symphony so it was kinda the ode to joy all along. Anyway it was Beethoven's 250th bday yesterday so I hope you got him something
@@schumacherenator Yeah I got him some air pods.
@@schumacherenator
Shit. I forgot to.
Joel's mom is yet to receive proper credit for her parts. She was shining in this one!
Thank you. You're too sweet :)
true!
But she’s in the credits ?
@@alexNicoleWa You are right, I was ambiguous, I meant Papa Haver reached superstardom, while Mama Haver's parts had remained kinda unrecognized.

0:54 guy is jumping so much and high as if he wanted to fly... like in the movie Thor: The Dark World
As a Korean American, I give this short film two thumbs up.
Subtitle: As a Korean American, I give this short film two thumbs up.
I didn't expect to let out an audible laugh reading this comment but I did.
Thank you for the subtitles.
I've read this comment ten times now, and I get it.
Everyone else, keep watching!
I had to stop scrolling comment section just to read the subtitles. Anyway thanks for the subs.
Is there a dubbed version of this comment available?
"And I stopped talking to my middle-class friends" LOL
This format... it’s quite possibly where Joel shines the brightest… But it’s hard to tell because he’s always shining so bright.
Yeah! What is this format called? He died it really well.
Goddamn Joel, the "I've taken to speaking Korean, just like they do in the movie" line along with holding up the little subtitle sign made me want to be a better man and appreciate the beauty inside a letterboxd account.
irl subtitling is post-film
I wanted this to have a Korean CC option so bad.
"Just like they do in the movie"
*holds up paper subtitle*
You're freakin hilarious dude
I'm Korean and that punchline at the end with your pronounciation is just perfect
It's a great movie but what about Thor: Dark World?
This movie is a lot like the movie Thor: The Dark World, except that it is in Korean.
What about the Thor attack on the Dark World?
thor: the dark world? more like, bore: ragnarok
I am immensely conscience-stricken
and ashamed to admit I have merely watched Parasite once while drunk and didn't really pay attention to it. For this reason, I give the film 2/10.
aw man its pretty good and pretty fucked up.
give it a try ✌️
You're nitpicking and biased. I win, bye bye

It has been awhile, sinse laughter has so forcefully and unexpectedly burst from my mouth in such a manner as to choke me. Don't stop.
Trent looked confused the whole time but was like "this is just the weekly Joel addiction, it will pass".
This should get a Short Film Award at the Short Films Awards.
The subtle subtitle to his gf was low key the funniest part of this short. Loved it.
Looking forward to the Joel Haver Criterion collection
Why are there words on screen?
This is more captivating of an epic than Homer's Odyssey.
The sheer cinematography of this, Joel is too good
As a native Korean speaker, I would happily provide Korean subs for this
Congratulations. You’re a true film buff nerdy person/critic.
Joel voice acting is phenomenal, the award intonations he does are really well made, he's just one of my favorite "KRplus comedian ",
The cinematography is perfect
Jesus how do you not have more subs?? I'm laughing my ass off.
Thank you for this, Joel Haver (and thanks Phil for pointing the way) -- Your voiceover is so aggressively perfect for this kind of short, confused but projecting an assuredness about the confusion. I kind of want you to narrate everything now. Like, literally everything.
I love it when you watch something, and it just makes sense.
I had to rewatch this video 10 times, just as many times as I watched Parasite The Movie!
I am not ready for the day i have seen all your videos and can't binge watch them anymore
Just like me with Apocalypse Now...
I bought myself a boat and I'll never get off of it.
This one is very, very good! I enjoy your expressions A LOT in this one, and your friend's as well. He does really good in your videos.
Damn, your cinematography is out of this world haha
This is incredible. I love these types of videos from you!!
the korean at the end i'm fucking dying
As an aside some of these autumn background in the last few episodes are stunning
loved the subtle Burning reference!
This feels like a scene from the house that jack built
I watched this video over ten times and i'll keep watching!
I've never thought about it but i've probably seen the best cinema has to offer. Now i never need to suffer through a movie again.
This is shot so well
This secret link (from Philip DeFranco) was great!
This has a lot of stylistic overlap with Hawk Martha. Would love to see collaboration.
The last 20 seconds was absolutely beautiful🤌
Hats off to the editor, for this reason i have no other hats to take off
The classical music soundtrack. The slow motion. The narration. He's done several videos like these and I really like them.
This is peak Joel Haver Cinematic Universe (JHCU) material
Bro you are hilarious and almost had my drug addict ass wanting to make my own creations. Love you man. Great stuff.vkeep it up
Especially detailed editing in this one. Very talented Joel. Oh so talented Joel.
It's so fucking beautiful where you live, man
My God this was a masterpiece
This one is clearly a cinematographic masterpiece.
A good friend of mine recommended the movie after seeing it in the cinema, but I'm not going to watch it because the risk is too high that I don't understand and will face severe consequences. I wish to thank Joel for his sacrifice to watch this movie on behalf of me.
He started speaking Korean so we have to watch this clip 10 times
A mysterious message perhaps
If you really just learned about Bong Joon Ho you need to check out his earlier works like Memories of a Murder, The Host, Barking Dogs Never Bite, Okja, & Incoherence. S.Korea has been making these amazing movies since the 80s. Check out The Wailing, Man from Nowhere, & Thirst. Its S. Korean cinema at its finest
I totally agree! I think South Korea’s film industry always strive to create unique and high quality films. Old Boy and No Mercy are my favorite films. They’re the type of movie that’ll make you think of it days after watching it.
The notes u took while watching were exactly how I felt when I saw it in theatres
This is my favorite of your videos. I've never seen parasite or any of the movies you dumped in the trash. But I feel as though I have now.
Would've been funny to see you wearing Joker makeup while watching the Oscar results. lol
Why would that be funny?
@@rob9875 if I have to explain it to you then it wouldn't be funny.
Joker makeup? That's way overdone. Especially after the dark knight freaking everybody was wearing that crap as if they were being so quirky and fun while it just shows a conformist person without a real personality of their own. Joel's not that.
The Lyrics in the end go like:
"FREUDE, SCHÖNER GÖTTERFUNKEN
TOCHTER AUS ELYSIUM
WIR BETRETEN FEUERTRUNKEN
HIMMLISCHE, DEIN HEILIGTUM"
Just finished Parasite for the first time
Time to watch it again just to read the dialogue
Joel is going to be famous.
This video goes insaneo-style!
Yi Yi is so good it hurts to see it go in the trash
(crying sounds)
The bit about talking like they do in the movies and holding up subtitles got me
Getting some Brendan and Cory vibes off this one, love it!
Parasite was really odd to watch but I personally couldn't think about anything else for the following 3 days.
TEN?!!! that's insane!!!
-ly low. 27 or bust
Quarantine was either the best or worst thing to happen to Joel.
Oh no, Yi Yi! Edward Yang is so incredible.
Man, Trent really should have seen that movie more often. Would have really helped him help you with surveying.
i have been reading subtitles my whole life. didn't really think how some don't actually use them.
I literally watched the movie after watching this
Dude when you make a feature length film one day Ima watch it.
You're in luck! He's made 7 already! On his channel page there's a playlist called "Feature Films." Enjoy!
@@TrentLenkarski surprisingly watchable
Man he really goes through the same troubles as a real hero - not unlike the troubles felt by Thor, in the film Thor - the dark world.
He just don’t miss
this is shot so well
Him throwing out A Brighter Summer Day was physically painful, even though I know it’s a joke
Just scrolled past this, remembered how funny it was, and laughed out loud
I think the most important take away for me is that we have the same garbage can. Thanks for doing a film about that garbage can.
Holy shit. Now this is sattire.
Thanks to Joel, I have a Letterboxd account and have logged over a 1000 films now...
0:54 i will remember this scene for the remainder of my life
This one is just perfect.
That was legit brillz, bro.
Lost it at the notes
I can only imagine theres people actually like that lmao
For reals tho that cinematography was tight
(CRYING SOUNDS)
Korea really does talk faster than Japan subtitle wise.
I gotta pause all the fucking time.
this is really fantastic
