Something you'll learn about in K-Pop is that their videos tend to be full of symbols and meanings.
Blackpink's "How You Like That" is a retelling of the classic Greek story of Persephone.
Long story short, Hades, Lord of tbe Underworld, kidnapped Persephone, Goddess of Springtime, Flowers, and Vegetation. He lured her into a colorful bed of flowers and then erupted out of the ground with his chariot, dragging her down with him. Her mother Demeter, Goddess of Agriculture, found out what happened and went to Zeus, King of the Gods and also Lord of the Sky. Meanwhile, Persephone hated her new existence. She was growing angry and hated being kept down. A deal was struck that allowed Persephone to return to the world for about half of the year but she had to remain in the underground for the other half. So when Persephone returned to the world, she brought Spring and Summer. As she left, the world turned cold and decayed.
This is the story all of them share, but silver-haired Rosé represents Persephone the most. In her scene at the beginning, she alternates between two locations. You see her happy with flowers and blooming with life juxtaposed with a dark, dirty cave. When she pulls on the mask, the first chorus comes through as the beat drops and they exclaim "How You Like That!?" The set is very green and full of plants. This is Spring. Summer is shown in the market with the lead rapper, Lisa. Fall with the purple background and umbrellas. And the Winter scene is obvious.
Jisoo in the fire scene is the Goddess of Revenge, Nemesis, sitting on a spider-like throne. She's going through her list and throws the book when she's ready to deal punishment.
At the end, the girls dance through a large hall and end up in a dome with 2 large Trojan horses. In the story where the Greeks hid in the horses, they erupted out of the horse secretly in the City of Troy and took over. These women use that to show that they have emerged and are here to takeover once again. And on the walls of the dome are an organic map. On the left is Asia and surrounding continents and on the right are the Americas, representing their global success.
This can be interpretated as a message meant between 2 lovers or between them and haters. They are here and will not stop doing what they do. They can't be kept down!

The beat and instrumental use is great and I like it because I'm a huge fan of Teddy, but let's be real and fair after almost 15 years of listening to his music this isn't revolutionary from him. Teddy has a very distinct style, structure and format to his productions even though he usually works with others in writing and producing you can 99% of the time know it's a Teddy & Co. Production he just throws in some new instrument mixes and switches up the pace and bam New music. Like working from a fixed blueprint he can change the fixings to accommodate the artist but it is the same blueprint. He was pumping out revolutionary stuff with BB and early 2NE1, now he's just upcycling music.

Than we have the bridge line “u should have ended me when you had the chance” is directed to all the haters and trolls that tried to bring them down. Then we have Lisa’s “bada Bing bada boom “ phrase that are used in rap it actually a commonly used phrase to use in verses of raps in order to express the explosion or to hype up someone who has dropped some tea! U might have notice that blackpink uses a lot of universal language such dudududu and that a consideration from their side to their their non Korean and non English fans it kinda brings every blink together especially because Blackpink is a international group!
