This game is something else. You can see they were ambitious about it: souls-like combat, multi-layered conversations, rpg system linked to social relationships, Dishonored-style city and exploration (blink makes so much sense in vampire setting, sadly limited to pre-designed spots), etc. Given how janky the final result is, they must have ran out of time & money, but I'm really glad they managed to release it at all. Also, I love seeing how your reactions to events and your decisions are different from mine, and how the game reacts to it! 😄
I’d suggest maybe doing the exposition stuff Johnny just because its one of those games where the background and the side quests are a part of the story. Maybe do a lot of chatting off screen and just let us know if there’s anything you think worth telling?
I love the voice acting in this game, it's one of the few games I've played where I've listened to all the conversations I've come across. And while speaking as a swedish person who has never visited Britain (nevermind Britain in 1918), all the dialects seem rather fitting, not exagerrated or used to such a point that it becomes comical.
I wouldnt worry about death (in combat), its going to be fairly common at the start, also exploration is usually rewarded and punished in equal measure. You will never have enough medical supplies if you bee-line the main objectives but could be severely weakened if you wander too much.
Johnny, RE: swapping weapons, iirc the DEFAULT controls for swapping between your equipped weapons are Z (main hand) and C (offhand) on keyboard and left and right on the D-pad if you use controller. (although in your game it seems to denote T and G instead, which may be your current binds, which would certainly be why you haven't found them, that's... unintuitive lol, and if that's the case, I might suggest rebinding to something easier to hit) I'm not done the episode, so you may have discovered this by the end, I'm commenting it so I don't forget to return and comment it if you don't spot it lol Keep on keeping on!
You're not under levelled, if you do not kill any civilians you will normally spend most of the game about 10 levels below the enemies. However you are not stunning enemies during your fights. Switch to using a stake in your offhand, and stun them. Once they're stunned you can drink their blood to refill your blood meter. Even if you don't drink their blood, stunning enemies gives you a moment to collect yourself. Particularly late game it is useful to stun enemies, and NOT drink their blood, because it's easier to repeatedly stun them if you don't.
Ive played this game around the time of the pandemic, so all those posters and the story in the background was a bit to current and real to me back then... if only i could have been an immortal vampire for a year or two, just to feel safe. Oh and dont forget about weapon upgrades, i did, for quite some time at the start (my hacksaw could have suck blood from enemies, it would make my life so much easier... and in the game).

I picked this game up again after a long time, and I do enjoy it, but I forgot about the amount of investgations and talking that is integral to the story.
I know there was no "french accent" but just want to point out that you were attacking a lot with your offhand weapon and only doing 10 damage, while the one or 2 hits you got with the machette were doing 40-60 damage each. Not under leveled, just using the offhand weapon :)
Just FYI, I can't recall if this is accurate, but I fear if you go to bed while someone is in danger, they won't survive the day. This game is fairly realistic with the time progression.

Same here, I played in 2020 not knowing how much the Spanish Flu played a part in this game. It was a bit too real.
