The X in "Xmas" is actually the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter in the Greek spelling of "Christ." The early church used it as a sort of code to identify themselves. So, calling it Xmas is not only acceptable but also a very old Christian tradition.
I just use it as an abbreviation when I don't want to write out "christmas"

The Reverand's advice on the third meme, that it *isn't* always God's plan, just totally caught me off guard and was needed. I've been dealing with a health challenge the last few years, and hearing that not only answered a very deep question I've been struggling with, but made me realize I'm not alone in this. Thank you for the kind advice.
I think John Lennox (not Lennon 😂) has said some things that could be encouraging as well. There are many talks and interviews he’s done uploaded here on KRplus. My favorite quote is when he talks about how we’re not alone in our pain, that there’s a God who understands and accompanied us in our human suffering. “(Paraphrase) If Jesus is who He claimed to be then we have to ask the question, what is God doing there nailed to a cross?”

I have a priest in my church who talks too much about politics imo. And I dread going to church when he's there to preach because we have diffrent view of politics and I can only sit and listen while he talks even if I disagree. Probably would like going to this man's church far more.

Went to church recently, was kinda a gay bash and against married couples who opt out of having g children. I was like I thought they were trying to be inclusive and if people don't want children , please don't have them because they deserve so much more.

That last meme hits close to home though. My Mom broke her back twice and when she gave birth to me, she very nearly died - she lost over half her total blood supply. Her skin was actually corpse grey and she's had chronic fatigue ever since. She can't walk very far anymore because she gets absolutely winded. Ever since she gave birth to me, she's had a need for parking spots really close to wherever it was that she was going: restaurants, parks, grocery stores, any stores, farmer's market, etc. Whenever she has a need for a parking spot, there is one near where she needs it. Prior to giving birth to me, that never occurred for her.
We both attribute it to God, He knows she actually has a need for close parking spaces and thus provides them for her. It seems to small an issue but it's a big deal for us and especially for her.

For like the first 7 years of my life I went to a church with a water slide, but it only had a waterslide for like 3 or so of those years and it doesn't anymore.
@@peri1539 I’m not religious but I went to a catholic school and I think there are two cerimonies: one when you’re a baby, so your parents are the ones choosing, and another when you’re old enough (from a religious point) to choose for yourself (the people I know who did it were like 13 at the time). I don’t know if the second one is popular in other branches of the church, though.
Last time, when I pray before going to sleep, I feel this peace around me, like no one's going to hurt me or threaten me. (one of my biggest fears is being buried alive)

No shared worldview to organize around. No moral law above the state. Of course we can never go back, but I pray for a sane way forward. It is certainly not obvious how.

Catherine of Aragón was the daughter of the Catholic Monarchs of Spain (Isabel I of Castilla and Fernando II of Aragón). They were very powerful Monarchs (specially Isabel I) so Henry VIII couldn't accuse Catherine of treason and behead her because he knew it would cause a huge political conflict. So, as ge couldn't get the pope's approval for divorce, he found another way of getting it splitting from the catholic church and founding the Church of England.
