I'm not religious at all. Chris is single handedly making "heathens” like myself rethink the ideas of what religion is or what it means to be religious. To have the ability to make religion so relatable is truly amazing. Honestly, what an incredible priest.
There is a big difference between being religious and being a person of faith. Rev Chris is definitely a man of faith.
I remember going to church as a child once and the lady looking after us told us that if you are quiet enough you could hear the angels sing and so we all stayed quiet for around 20mins so we could hear the angels. (Obviously we heard nothing) Man she got a bunch of 15 children under 8 to sit still and quiet, what a boss move.
I think the problem was you took it too literally, which as a young child I can understand... I can talk to God about anything I want at any time I need to, but I don't literally hear him, it's like another voice inside my head, sometimes if God needs to say something to me, it's impossible to block out this voice. How do I know it's God and not just in my head? It's hard to explain... it's one of those things where you just know... my point, however, is maybe try again to hear the angels, without taking the word hear too literally, I started 'hearing' God when I was in a reflection and prayer room at a shopping centre and was just thinking, not even praying, just thinking.

Ironically it's similar to the first part of the atheist "motto" I guess you can say. "Science cannot answer everything as yet, but it’s okay not to know things. The solution to not knowing isn’t to make up a story to fill the gap in our knowledge, it’s to keep looking until you find the answer". The second sentence is where religion and atheism diverge. Religion is all about filling the "gaps" with faith instead of facts.

Honestly they're super wholesome and always make me question why I stopped believing in God in the first place. Maybe part of it was the constant shaming from the church I was in (the priest was one of the best people I know, truly, but everyone else was always so judgemental and aggressive to what they considered sinful it felt weird to remember they were supposedly following the word of Christ), but I guess in the end I'm just too cynical. Either way, it's refreshing to see how there are Christians so true to what I believe Jesus would've wanted from humanity

Christians shouldn't judge each other, and neither should they say they're better because they think they're pious and they think they commit less sins... we're all sinners. We are all equal sinners. We all need salvation. For it is not the healthy who need a doctor but the sick. On a similar note, (now I'm sorta going on a tangent lol) we cannot hope to gain Heaven by our works. How could we, low, sinful, evil mortals, do enough with our 70-80 year-long lives to gain a life that will last billions? But Jesus came to save us, and by salvation and faith in him we are saved. "For God so loved the world, he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

I was still pretty young, when I went to the Sistine Chapel and I just forgot that you’re not supposed to take pictures. I ended up being super obvious about it, but somehow didn’t get in trouble. Funny thing though; the sign that says that taking pictures is forbidden, is actually in some of the pictures.
Funny story, I was on the bus going to the Mall with my grandson. When I got to the Mall, I realized I forgot my phone and called the Transportation office immediately. They told me the time the bus would be coming back around the mall and if I meet the driver, I could get my phone back. When the driver gave me the phone, he said he just about had a heart attack when I got a phone call. My ringtone was Jesus take the wheel lol

Jolly has always been my comfort place. This video is the example of it. I always thankful that I found out about you guys and became a fan.
As a Christian, I'm really concerned about our image. The way people talk about "religious people" makes me kinda sad.
Problem is, most of the "Christians" we see in the media, are fundamentalist assholes, and not the easy-going regular christians.

Yeah the representation of “religious people” gives the super nice ones a bad rep. It sucks. Religion doesn’t determine how good a person is but some people can be super radical with little bits of information (like some of the crazies in the media)

I'm binging all this priest's videos and I'm thoroughly entertained. I'm Christian by baptism but I don't adhere to the belief and it's so nice to see a priest just having a good laugh on these memes
I had a science teacher in high school that blew my young mind when we asked how he could believe in both evolution and Christianity. (This was in a Southern state along the Bible Belt where the general population was about 10 or 15 years behind the popular culture at the time.) He told us that he was comfortable with believing both because who could say that such long stretches of time would be nothing more than a day to a god, and perhaps it just took that long to shape the planet into what it is and to shape us into a being that could acknowledge itself and divinity. Growing up in a strict religious home and church, where the Bible was taken literally, and many times abused for power, hearing this man speak changed the course of my life and intellectual development. I will forever be grateful to Mr. Trawick.
I believe (I’m not a christian but a hindu) that god created the laws of the universe that allowed the earth’s creation. For example the laws of motion,how atoms interact with each even survival of the fittest and the genetic mutations that caused evolution. However if god ever interacted with what they created (I don’t have an opinion on what form god chooses to take) , they wanted their creations to adapt and learn for themselves. Kind of like a test to see how their rules affect the universe. So god gave a rough summary of the universe’s creation to the people who asked to see if they could come up with their own answers and explanations for the universe’s working. Science shows us how to identify patterns and create laws that life may be abiding but we don’t really know why some fundamental laws exist.

If you actually study the Bible academically, the biggest supporting theory of Genesis isnt that it was literally Earth being created but about God making a "contract" with the Israelites. As in WHY they are important to him. The format that the Genesis is written is the same format that these contract were written in Mesopotamia etc. So you can totally believe in evolution because the Bible doesn't care about the creation of Earth.
Performing Heart yeah. I'm more of a science guy than a religious one (doesn't mean I'm atheist, I'm just not that deep into religion, but I still believe in God) but we just cannot understand the most fundamental "why" of natural phenomenon.

Even if we knew every rule, however, we might not be able to understand why a particular move is made in the game, merely because it is too complicated and our minds are limited. If you play chess you must know that it is easy to learn all the rules, and yet it is often very hard to select the best move or to understand why a player moves as he does."
That's how I like to view the world. We are just curious beings wanting to know the working of the world and this question of 'why' leads to the formation of many theories, be it religious (or spiritual?) or scientific.
Also, if God has done and described everything, then Mathematics is the language of God itself.
At my Catholic high school, my religion teacher explained it like this. According to St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Augustine, the Bible is to be read in four ways: allegorically, morally, analogically, and literally. The literal, however, is not what it says word for word on the page. Rather, it is the message the writer was trying to portray. In the Genesis story, for example, the message is Gods relationship with mankind, mans relationship with woman, humanities relationship with creation, the origin of sin, and that ultimately God is the creator of everything. The author of the creation story could not have been there to witness the events of creation, and simply wrote the passages inspired by (not possessed by) the Holy Spirit. For this reason, we should not view the Bible as a history book, and recognize that God created everything through evolution. (Also, it is important to note that the Creation story is split into two parts, the first about Creation itself and the second part about Adam and Eve. These were written by different authors and actually contradict each other in the order of things. In the first part the animals were created first, then humans. in the second part humans were created before the animals, and then the other animals were brought before Adam for him to name and see if they were a suitable partner for him. This contradiction can lead one to logically conclude that the Creation story is not a “historical” account but a moral one)
