As a native Spanish speaker learning English, no one had ever taught me how to use "less" and "fewer", I didnt even considered there was a difference, "fewer" wasn't necessarily in my vocabulary, until today. Thank you Ollie!

I'm a native English speaker and I never knew the definition of less and fewer until now. I always used it right but I didn't know the difference was if you can count it or not!
It's an important grammatical rule, but as Josh demonstrated, in casual speech we don't care too much. That being said, if you aren't sure which to use, it's better to default to "less" instead of "fewer"-- You'll get ~fewer~ strange looks saying things like "less than $20," "30 minutes or less," "less dogs," etc., than if you try to say things like "fewer ketchup," "fewer knowledge," "fewer water," etc.
I've never thought about it before but instinctively, for me, I'd use "less" with anything whereas "fewer" would be more appropriate with things that you can individually count? Unlike Ollie, I think "less" is more general and therefore works in any situations.

"30 minutes or less" is not wrong because the "less" is referring to the entity of time of 30 minutes. In other words, saying something like "do it in 30 minutes or less" is the same as saying "do it in less than a time of 30 minutes", which is correct. So fewer and less are both acceptable in this instance.

In language learning, you can get these breakthroughs, and then study hard for a long time without feeling any major progress for a long time. It can be really frustrating, but in the end, persistence pays off :)

['너무'의 뜻이 변경됐다. 그동안 부정적인 표현에만 사용 가능해 대표적으로 맞춤법을 틀리게 하는 단어였던 '너무'가 긍정적인 표현에 사용해도 된다는 국립국어원의 발표가 있었다. 이로써 “너무 예쁘다, 너무 좋다”라는 표현이 가능해졌다.]

애초에 긍정문에 '너무'를 붙여서 사용한 이유가 부정적이지 않은 단어에 부정적인 수식어를 붙임으로서 일부러 극적인(과장된) 효과를 주기 위해서였는데,
이걸 문법적으로 틀렸다고 하는 것 자체가 이상한 소리였다고 봅니다.
물론 문법적으로만 따지면 '너무'가 붙었을 때 당연히 부정적인 의미가 되고, 실제로 그렇게 사용하는 경우도 있지만,
현대에는 단순한 문법 규칙을 넘어서 과장된 표현을 위해 사용하는 경우가 더 많기 때문에 결국은 맥락에 따라서 판단해야 하는 것.
ex) "너무 좋다" => 좋은 정도가 지나쳐서 오히려 좋지 않다고 할 수 있을만큼 좋다. => 과장일 수도 있고, 그래서 좋지 않다는 것일 수도 있음.
How to trigger Ollie:
- 30 minutes or less
- Fewer ketchup
- Less people
- Fewer water
30 minutes or less is technically correct tho. you're measuring the duration of time, just as you might be measuring 10ml of ketchup or water

저는 아예 영어를 1도 모르는 수준에서 여행이나 친목을 위한 회화를 위해서 본토 아가들 배우는 방식으로 그냥 대화문을 듣고 배우는 사람으로써 , 저어어어엉말! 처음 시작할 때 정도? 얘기한거였어요!
쉽게 예를 들면
예전 교육이 그렇듯ㅜㅜ 제가 처음 시도했던 공부법은 굶주림을 뜻하는 hnger과 뒤에 결합해 나오는 알파벳(i나 y이런거)을 하나하나 넣어보면서 배운 후 문장을 조합해서 배우던 이상한 시스템이라ㅜ 집중력 제로인 처음부터 막대한 정보에 넉다운이었어요ㅠㅠ
그에 비해 I'm hungry~ 라고 듣고 익히고 지나가고! 본인이 궁금해질 즈음 표기법이나 발음이 I am으로 쓰지 않는 이유, hungry이라는 언어는 어떻게나왔나 덧붙여서 배우는 시스템을 조금 체계적으로 이해된것 같아서 쓴 댓글입니다! 문법도 중요하죠!

진짜 시간이 지날수록 조쉬님은 한국어 쓸때 억양이 더 자연스러워지고 올리님은 한국어를 쓰는게 좀 더 능숙해졌다는게 느껴져서 정말 멋있어요♡♡♡♡

진짜 놀라운 조쉬의 한국어 능력.. 지금은 비록 너무라는 말이 긍정 부정 두 표현과 함께 사용할 수 있지만 몇년 전까지만 해도 너무는 부정과 사용됐죠. 이걸 알고 있다니 조쉬도 진짜 열심히 공부했구나 싶네요 진짜 볼수록 대단한 사람.
