I always hated how Danny Phantom was canceled so fast but after what happened to SpongeBob and the Fairly Odd Parents when they dragged on too long and lost quality, I think Danny Phantom actually went out on a high note.
i don't think i would consider phantom planet a high note, but i see what you're saying. best it end in it's prime vs turning into some shambling corpse

It was more of a mediocre ending, especially when compared to the other two-episode specials that came before. Still way better than FOP and SpongeBob.

I always found Danny's secret identity sad. All of the villains knew his identity, he didn't reval it because he was scared of his parent's reaction.
And yet, Freakshow was the only one who revealed Danny’s identity. Everyone else leveraged the hell out of it, but they all seemed to think that ghost business was not something to be dragging humans into.

The fact that Danny's parents want to dissect him and he has such a strong fear of that actually happening it becomes a plot point in a special is such a dark concept for a kids show.
I always felt sad for Danny having to hide that aspect of him due to the fear of being treated like a lab rat to be cut open.
Tbf, while Danny is right to be afraid, let's also address the fact that it's stated pretty clearly in the last episode that the Fentons love their son and would have supported him from the start of they'd known his secret. Or at least tried to help in someway, but they'd never have tried to dissect him! cx Always wanted to read a fic that took that concept but half the fandom is fr addicted to angst :c

@@sonicfighter64it reminds me of the “Grey Harry” Harry Potter fanfictions I read when I was 15: just over the top angst, melodrama and bashing of several characters (save for a very select few) all in the name of pushing the story.
man, you described so much why Danny Phantom was revolutionary. They're all "good dogs". The parents are loving and supportive, the older sister is understanding, the MC is a selfless teenager who actually is a good hero despite his age.
I wouldn’t say “loving and supportive” considering that all his enemies knew his secret identity but he wouldn’t tell his parents because he was afraid they’d dissect him

Honestly Mr. Lancers use of novel titles instead of curse words was so smart. Kinda makes me sad that I can't see any other show ever doing it without being considered a rip-off. Kind of a "first to the worm" type situation
Didn’t vlad also use dairy or desserts like butter biscuits? I’m guessing it’s since he lived in Wisconsin
Chowder used various made up foods to fill in for curse words I believe

This show does something a lot of animated shows don’t do, it utilizes non verbal communication especially when it between Danny and his family not everything needs to be stated.
What I love about Danny phantom is that the villains aren't always bad there are instances where they joke abit with Danny before getting serious
like when johnny 13 said he was just fighting danny to blow off steam after a fight with kitty. that made me laugh haha
For the ghosts Danny fights, it’s all just a way to kill time. They run around, cause a little havoc with the humans, mess with each other on the side. All good fun for them. Guys like Pariah Dark and Danny’s human enemies are the ones that are serious threats.

I just wanna point out that Mr. Lancer was voiced by the legendary Ron Perlman, which I thought was a fitting addition seeing how Ron is known for his roles in supernatural action films (Blade 2, Hellboy, ...)

More modern case he also voices the Lich from Adventure Time (and of course as the narrator in the Fallout games. Can't just not mention that).

1,000% “The Ultimate Enemy” is one of the best episodes and has stuck with me into my own writing career. The idea of an alternate version of the hero that’s EVIL is so cool to me and has been since I first saw the movie/episode 😌
That episode is so fucked up. His entire family and his best friends DIE due to him cheating on a test, he gets severely depressed and wants to lobotomise himself, his ghost half is freed and BRUTALLY KILLS him, and then this ghost self proceeds to wipe out like 99.9% of humanity and kill or severely maim most of the cast. I can't believe how little this is ever discussed.

The idea of meeting future you and they are evil is FASCINATING to me
Yeah I especially love crossover fanfics with Danny Phantom, because Dan IS a One Man Apocalypse; the stronger the universe it’s getting crossed with the higher Danny’s potential.
It really sells the hard truth of one being their own worst enemy lol 😅

My favorite moment in the show was an episode where Jazz finds out who Danny is and at the end of the episode we see Danny flying through the sky as a, pun intended, free spirit. He looked so peaceful and content, and in inspiration I’m still trying to find that experience for myself.
A graphic novel which we will all forget about between now and then until coming across it on the internet after randomly thinking about Danny Phantom. Also shows like Danny Phantom, Kim Possible, Ed Edd N Eddy, KND, Teen Titans, and Ben 10 are reasons why TV networks should not have full control and rights to TV series if they do not plan on using it after cancelation despite fan interest. It should go back to the creators so they can do more with their art.

Agreed! I'd rather DP go to Steve Marmel, though. He's the one who made the story so amazing! Butch Hartman wrote more of season 3, and aside from it being rushed, his writing style is a bit too mean-spirited for my tastes and makes Danny into a prick.
As a member of the Phandom, let me tell you...I'm GLAD that Nickelodeon has the rights, JUST to keep it legally out of Butch's hands. He's the LAST kind of person I'd want in control/ownership of the IP. God knows his retroactive lore additions/ten years later art videos were bad enough (look up Flynn Fenton--it's Butch's contrived, poorly written "Danny had a secret older brother this whole time, he just went missing" cliche, which fits into canon so badly it's basically a retcon) with how little they matched the show's original lore and characters' designs/personalities. The episodes where he had the most writing control, especially in season 3 (when the other hallmark writers of the show left, like Steve Marmel), are notorious for their poor quality and character regression (to the point the Phandom collectively elects to ignore the series finale as canon). He's basically the JK Rowling of Danny Phantom (just replace vocal TERF bigotry with Christian scams in the form of Oaxis and "healing seminars/retreats/courses" that claimed to have "cured" people of cancer, organ failure and autism. Yikes.)

I’ll definitely say this show was a huge obsession of mine as a child. I’ll never forget the day I saw it for the first time. I saw the premiere in April 2004. I was at a friends house and I was just hooked.
After that, anything involving Danny was my love. I watched every episode. Even including season 3 online before it was released on tv.
This show just grabbed me in ways I’ll never be able to explain. I obsessed over it from reading fanfics, decorating my room with pictures from the show in my bedroom, buying merchandise and getting the complete series on DVD, dressing up as Danny Phantom for superhero day at school, getting a Danny phantom funko pop.
I’ll definitely want the graphic novel when it’s released next year. So I’ll say I absolutely adore this show and hope it comes back.
I really loved that show, one of my favorite characters was Ember not only for her song and appearance but because for her backstory which is pretty sad. I feel like she could have gone some redemption arc in the show.

I hardly remember a lot from my childhood vividly but Danny Phantom has always stood the test of time for me. I was 5-8 years old when the 3 seasons ran on nick back in the day & it’s always been one of my favorites from the channel. The humor mixed with serious tone & action sold me from day one plus the romance sealed the deal. To this day it’s still one of the best animated shows of all time I’ll always be a die hard fan of this classic
I, too, quote the Box Ghost quite often - actually dressing up as him to go trick or treating (well, chaperoning) with my younger cousins. Literally no one is going to know that, but I will, and that's what matters.
This show is (yes, is) one of the two main things that caused me to *really* separate the art from the artists - Harry Potter being the other product. Hartman's treatment of the fans that have come up with their own headcanons and theories about Danny and the universe has definitely saddened me. I still interact quite often with creators, authors, and artists who have done more for the world building of this show post-run as fan theories, and love the show that much more for it. I'm sure Hartman has turned around and backpedaled on what he's said previously, but ever since he said he wouldn't support what fan artists have done, theoriezed, and headcanoned for themselves, I've stopped following anything he's had to say - the content he's created for us to consume is all I wish to care about.
Danny Phantom was really neat to me because of its serialization as the series went on. Other than Code Lyoko (loved your video on that BTW) Danny Phantom was the first show I saw with a building story and changing status quo. I'll never forget Vlad looking for the key to the Ghost Kings sarcophagus in the background of season one.
I have two older brothers and as kids all three of us LOVED this show.
I LOVED this show. It was a great show, with amazing lore, and it got me into fan fiction. I will definitely be getting graphic novel, but it’s a little bittersweet since Butch Hartman has shown himself to be a giant tool.

Let’s go!! This show and Avatar The Last Airbender absolutely dominated my childhood
holy heck this video is amazing and honestly really well put together holy heck. Also a fun fact bout Dani is that Hartmen later revealed that after the series ends jack and maddie adopt her and she officially becomes danny and jazz's younger sister. A really nice end to her character and im happy she got a happy ending.

To be honest, they could've done a whole lot more than what they had. It had great potential for building into other things.

Some of the humour (looking at you, Tucker) hasn't aged well, but Danny Phantom has a huge place in my heart. Danny has all the appeal of the best aspects of Spider-Man story structure, with one of the coolest power sets in superhero history!

I love Danny phantom it's one of my favorite cartoon shows of all time this should have a comeback
Danny Phantom was always in my top 5 shows as a kid, alongside ATLA, Mythbusters, Phineas & Ferb, and Firefly (Firefly moreso in my later childhood).
This show also has a pretty phenomenal fanfiction scene. The themes of death, transformation, identity, and secrets lends itself to some inspired stuff!
One of My favorite shows of all time alongside Spectacular Spiderman. Fun Fact: according to Butch he stated that if the series continued, of all the ghosts villains of the show, he would have expanded Ember character the most and Made more songs for her.
Man I just gotta say I really appreciate the little bumpers you put in before and after ads, its a small thing but I haven't seen anyone else do that, it gives me a good hit of nostalgia
danny phantom is from the golden age of cartoons and it showed, the characters, voice actors, animation. it was amazing and i still watch it to this day, it is just a good show overall and the theme song is banger and it will get stuck in your head. i love the villains and it is overall just an amazing show. it is on my top 10 fav shows of all time along with American dragon jake long.

Freak Show is AMAZING! I love his crazed laugh. And honestly, it's weird, but somehow still works that he is voiced by Alan from Two and A Half Men, if anyone remembers that show. He and Nocturne are two of my all time favorites!
I loved this show so much. I was born in 2002 and I don’t even know how I fell in love with this show since I was so young when it came out. Danny Phantom, Ben 10, Generator Rex… that weird Firebreather movie…. they all shaped my childhood so much. I am pumped to hear about the graphic novel coming out since I didn’t know about it beforehand. I’ll definitely have to get it. I hope it keeps the same charm as the show. I also hope that… if Nick ever chooses to bring it back… they don’t Nickify it or direct it to children. I want a Danny Phantom for the generation who grew up on it, not a reboot Danny Phantom for the next generation. Although… beggars can’t be choosers and I guess I would honestly just be happy with anything at all from my favorite show that ended waaayyy too early

Story was that a Game Villain became sentient and sends minions to earth to conquer it. 3 Gamers in a clan bring their weapons from the game to reality and use it to take down the evil wizard, as well as scam ads and trolls.
I remember watching Danny Phantom reruns on NickToons. To this day I haven't found a show that felt so awesome.
I actually liked Firebreather. Thought it was a shame that it wasn’t popular enough to get its own show, but that was probably for the best. I still dig it up out of the depths of the internet to watch from time to time.
Ok 3 things:
1. Last Halloween I saw a stranger dressed as Danny Phantom and lost my ish in the middle of this intersection we crossed paths at, we both felt a mutual but different appreciation for each other from that interaction
2. I remember being inspiried to create a girl ghost character before Danni but not like Danni in design or even depth
3. This series felt WAY longer than 53 episodes but in a good way, I miss it but am also glad it didn't end on a bad/poor note
When you started talking about Danny's sister I was so happy to hear how cool she was. That was good writing. I never watched this show but I think it's great that it had positive elements and role models like that for kids at the time.

Watching this one thing you touched on I never thought about was that these are surprisingly grounded characters for a show that was still pretty funny. I really liked it. And ultimate enemy was a huge deal! It still holds up, and is sooo dark

I think Nickelodeon should have at least given it one more season to help flesh out some things so things wouldn't have felt as rushed towards the end and also have let Steve Marmel have the same amount of control for the writing in the 3rd season.
Man, I WATCHED the premiere after The Kids Choice Awards and every episode until it disappeared from the channel! Danny is one of my favorite animated characters, being a great mix of Marty McFly and Daniel LaRusso, but I still can't believe he wasn't Jason Marsden;) I can think of a few places where the writing didn't quite impress me, but overall, it WAS done pretty well...this show kind of reminds me of a cross between 'Hey Arnold!' and 'As Told By Ginger' with ghosts:)

I know this was posted awhile ago, but I just happened to stumble apon this channel! I love it! Thank you for covering Danny Phantom! I just started rewatching this with my 20 year old and we're introducing it to my almost 7 year old! Such a great show! The voices are perfect for each character, in my opinion!
Just rewatched this like a week ago. Perfect timing. Definitely a classic.
Ahh Danny Phantom was responsible for the sexual awakening of a lot of queer guys back in the day. There was a discussion on some forums about how guys realized a lot of themselves after watching the show and Danny. I think it helped that Danny is overall very likable and relatable.
I was unaware of new Danny Phantom content being released, it feels like after all this time the show has been consigned to cult classicism. That said, I will now be keeping my eyes peeled for additional news, and as long as they retcon "Phantom Planet" then I would be overjoyed for a continuation of the series. There are far too many unresolved plotlines that are now put to pasture by Vlad's circumstances at the end of the episode, and I still feel the lack of catharsis that Danny's revealing of his secret to his parents ON HIS OWN TERMS would've brought. Who knows? If time travel is involved then anything can be changed & timelines reset.
I enjoyed this show a lot as a kid. My favorite episodes were when Sam wouldn't let anybody change her personality and values.

the premiere of danny phantom is still so fresh in my mind. i think it was about the time that kids wb was on its way out and i was looking for new shows to keep my attention. i was at my aunts house and caught the premiere on nick and the thing that really got me was the theme song. it was so catchy and just stuck in my brain for hours. as the show went on, it quickly became one of my favorites. from phantom planet to the dark danny stuff, and yes...ember and desiree...i loved this show. you really brought back some good memories for me. man, its a shame childhood had to go ghost.

I enjoyed Danny Phantom as a kid and re-watched it recently. I didn't enjoy it as much as I remembered but I did enjoy the characters and villains, loved Jazz and the parents, Danny and Dani, Vlad, etc. I did not like Season 3 and decided not to re-watch it. Turns out they fired some of the writers and Danny's and Vlad's characters especially changed for the worse.

Yeah, they wasted a lot of potential in Season 3 imo. Like, they had Valerie learn Vlad's secret, and immediately followed it with the finale. It's barely even acknowledged. And I didn't even like the finale, Vlad became too evil and too dumb.

Being born in 94, I think we we're born in the era with the BEST shows of the time ever
I was...no, who am I kidding, I _AM_ obsessed with Danny Phantom and have been since the moment I first saw it. I still rewatch the entire series every now and then and if I'm not rewatching it, you can bet I'm thinking about it. My favourite episode is the one where Danny and Dash get shrunk and have to work together to figure out how to grow back to their normal size while Danny's powers aren't working and he starts reverting back to Danny Fenton. I just really like putting characters under that kind of pressure. Danny was definitely my childhood crush, too. I liked your comparison to Vlad with Luthor, but he always read to me as a Dr. Doom type. Circumstantially and character-wise, he acts and is motivated just like Doom in the comics. It’s kinda wild.
His origin definitely borrows from Doom’s

My best friend and I met bc of the show.
We were at a party we both happened to be invited to, and one of those moments where things fall by themselves happened. Like not a soul was standing near it. At least, not a living one anyway.
Since I was kid anytime something would fall by itself, I'd hum the opening chords to the Danny Phantom theme song (you know what 7 seconds I'm talking about).
And so I hummed it like I always do, and he finished it for me (HE'S A PHANTOM!!)
Y'all we had a Spider-Man pointing meme moment, bc for YEARS nobody had gotten that reference, and here some 15ish years later I found a member of my tribe.

Hey Jordan Fringe, I am die hard fan of Danny Phantom ever since I first laid eyes on it. Great video by the way , and as an extra fun fact for those whom don't know the opening theme of the show was heavily inspired a song from the band Queen (of which I am a die hard fan as well 😁) called The Invisible Man.
Now you've done it. You've gone and made such a fantastic video that I have no choice but to subscribe (to be fair, I was all but certain to do that anyway, but I find this particular video to be exceptionally good - although I'm currently mid-binge and every video I've seen so far has been pretty gosh darn awesome). I have just been having a blast since finding your channel (KRplus is finally giving me good recommendations!)! Thank you so much for all the awesome content you make I especially enjoyed this look at one of my absolute favorites, Danny Phantom. Oooooh man, Danny Phantom had a really big impact on my life and continues to be one of my absolute treasured shows from childhood. My favorite name is Danny because of DP and I named my first car after the show. I always told myself that if I had a kid, they'd by named Danny, that has been this show's influence on my life. When I was about 17 (ten years ago now at this point) I went back and rewatched it and it still held up, solidifying it as one of my favorite animated shows of all time. I waited forever for a sequel and would still like one even now. Excited for that comic :)

Danny Phantom is with out a doubt in my top five favorite cartoons growing up. Just started rewatching this show a few days ago and its still able to keep me glued to the tv.

I'll be honest, I only found Danny Phantom a few weeks ago, BUT I WISH I FOUND IT SOONER! I keep thinking about this show, it's easily in my top 5 animated shows, and everything about it makes me so happy. I feel like it should have continued, but only long enough to give a proper tie-off to everything that happened, such as Danny and Sam's relationship (it definitely needed a bit more growth), his parents finding out he's Phantom, possibly some character redemptions and other things that needed more work. I love this show and I want to see more, but I'm fine if it doesn't get more either. It ended as well as it could with its situation, and we should be thankful to everyone to made the show possible in the first place. Praise Danny Phantom!
