Dude I can only imagine the emotions Ross felt when he heard this for the first time.
Imagine him hearing that first shotgun blast from someone he thought was a homie.
I think he cried , bcs he was sad and also he was happy
Ross was in on the production, the white guy in the video was him
In an interview Joyner said he reached out to ross after the song but Ross ghosted Joyner fearing he had something to do with it seeing as no one could possibly know so much without being involved in the incident

"He introduced me to his family, I was jelous of him" is actually a really strong line in the context.

I felt this. Had a best friend like this and actually would constantly tell me he was jealous of everything I had I always thought he was just tryna uplift me and make me see what I have… in reality he was plotting. ALWAYS BELIEVE PPL

He must have had some guardian angels watching over him or something. He had to be alive for something. A legacy.

joyner lucas is a hell of a story teller
@velveteyes79 for the sake of the song they kinda had to change it. If it were over the span of 10 years, it would be a whole damn album. Although I'm not opposed to that!
velveteyes79 what the fuck are you talking about? If he stated the shooter knew him for long then that ENTIRE first half of the video would have to be scrapped you fucking dumbass. He did it for simplicity, not to make a “black brotha” seem less evil
Honestly, just like a movie (which this kind of is, in a way), things change. Details move a little. Sometimes for time, sometimes to make things interesting, sometimes it’s just creativity.
And even when you talk about how your day went, you’re gonna change details.
It’s not good or bad, it’s just details move around. So just accept that this is a good story and a good song, and chill.
@velveteyes79
Dude, I’m not saying the facts change.
I’m saying that stories’ details get reworded. And I was using the part about your day as an example. Like I doubt you can memorize everything that happened to the exact detail. You’re going to change people’s quotes to the best of your memory.
But regardless of that mess there, this is like a movie (except obviously a lot shorter and well a little different)
Yes the song’s story changed 10 years to like a few weeks or whatever.
But what’s the detail really matter? It changes the backstory, sure, but the rest of it is still the same, man.
Like nobody gets pissed at movies changing giant things about true stories.
Look at the opening text. It says “based on a true story” based means, it is inspired by and mostly that story, but it’s not a lie if a detail or two are changed.
And let me say ftr I’m not trying to upset you or make you look bad at all. Im just saying I don’t get the point of getting so worked up over it.
velveteyes79 wow. Just wow. I’m not sure what kind of delusional world you live in where changing the time of a story for SIMPLICITY is trying to evoke sympathy for the bad guy. Joyner likes to tell a story from both perspectives. Check out I’m not racist and I’m sorry for example. The shooter very likely had family problems, because nobody shoots a friend of ten years for no reason, but that doesn’t make him less evil. Please tell me where Joyner tried to make him seem less evil then he was because 10 years or 2 months, shooting someone you call a friend is fucked up.
i love how it switches perspectives, genius.
John Carter that is the best part about it!
John Carter i love the way he switch it up too hes a genius like you said
I heard the I'm not racist song and immediately thought of this I was so surprised it was the same guy. Idk why tho it's amazing

Best Story Teller in the game, Ross is a true legend.
This is probably the greatest hip hop story ever told! Joyner Lucas is super talented
A lot of competition.
Polo G - Bloody Canvas (I'd recommend watching the GTA music video)
Rapman - Shiro Story (pt. 1-3)
Rapman - Rollercoaster
Meek Mill - Tony story (pt. 2)
@@Ty-J_250 I’m not saying there’s no one else who is talented but this song and video is a masterpiece and it’s based on a true story. The way he tells the story from the victims perspective and then from the villain’s perspective is amazing. The word play on each of their verses is similar yet different and the real Ross lived and spoke on how much he loved the song too. Joyner has the unique ability to tell stories so well and make the visuals more vivid which I love. He said before he comes up with the visuals before the song which is probably the reason his stories are so epic. Will, I’m not racist and this song are literally some of the best stories ever told and the videos are all legendary
@deewoodson3545 true. Even tho he did a superb job and went beyond the ordinary/basic level he could have done it at, it is easier to make a song like this when it's based on a true story and the content is already there, vs something that is made up from scratch I think. Maybe, maybe not but I think that's probably the case, but I'm not taking anything away from him
