Great review Julia! Very honest and great video examples. I also use the ZV-1, but I don't think it's a giant leap forward compared to the RX100 V. I think both cameras will do a great job.

the stabilizer of the rx100v is better than zv1? I have bought a zv1 but it does not have intelligent active
I too have the Sony RX100V and the Sony ZV-1 but not sure if I should sell the RX100V as it will be handy for taking discrete pictures with the use of the pop up EVF.
Which one do you recommend for someone to buy , zv1 today or rx100v

To me, Rx100 have better dynamic range
First of all you look beautiful. Thank you for making this video. I think I prefer RX100 mark V to ZV1 for the skin tone. RX100 looks more real in term of skin color. I've watched RX100 mark VII review as well, and I think RX100 mark V is still the best among Sony RX line-up in term of natural color production.
I liked the rx100 footages better. Maybe object tracking is slightly better on zv1 but face tracking and color science is better on rx100. The only downside of rx100 is 5 minutes limit but I'm planning to shoot on hd so I guess no limits on that. Thanks for the comparison
Brilliant review, contemplating getting the zv1 for that unlimited record time and mic input, but now I’m not so sure… how are you finding the zv1 two years on?
Still very happy I kept the Sony ZV-1! So far I still can't find any other comparable point and shoot camera in that price range
Awesome comparison. The ZV-1 doesn't quite have the dynamic range that the RX-100V has. Still a great camera for sure no doubt. It's a difficult trade for sure because you get the 30 minute 4k and the audio jack and ZV-1 looks to have faster focus which is a huge advantage. But damn...the dynamic range on the RX100 V just looks better. The ZV-1 looks a bit overly compressed.
The DR on ZV-1 is great, maybe she had DRO off or at auto. You can set DRO up to 5 and it looks way better. I don't use anything other than DRO5. It all depends on settings, how NR was set, soft skin and so on. You can turn off all these things and the detail is amazing on ZV-1 and it also has nicer colors in jpg and video than RX100 V. ZV-1 has Sony's new color science which is very close to Canon's colors, at times even better. I have G7X MK2 as well and did many comparisons with ZV-1.
Get an Edutige ETM-001 microphone with a right angle 3.5mm adaptor.

i would recommend showing the name of the camera on screen when you talk about it or show a visual demonstration of what feature you are talking about, the first 5 minutes was a bit confusing, had to go back and forth to really listen which camera you are talking about.

ZV1 has a skin filter? Your skin has less details.
yes, but I didn't turn it on of all the shots showed in this video so if you take a look at other clips you should see the difference :)

ZV1 is too close to your face
It’s the extra stabilization but you can turn it off
