The intro takes me back to the time when I lived in a town called Eilat, Israel at that time, 1977, and we would float on the Red Sea stoned on Hashish watching the shooting Stars in the Sinai Desert Sky while this magical sound would blare from the Beach Cafe. I was 28 and didnt have a care in the World or the notion of just amazingly lucky I was to be born at such a time. Now its 2020 and I am 72..

for me, i can listen to all these songs anytime i want. The best part of youtube for me is coming here..putting on one of my favorite jams and reading others comments. It's great to hear the stories on how my generations "boomers" music and songs affected so many lives in so many different ways. Of course being a product of the 60's and 70's i don't think any music before or after was better than this. I've read some great stories here about so many great artists and their music..i guess it lets us know, we're kinda connected by our music in so many different ways...my mother once told me...music is laughter to the ears of God..she was so right...god bless Pink Floyd and ty for being a part of the soundtrack of my life....Dark side of the Rainbow...doesn't get better than that..lol

I kinda like Animals best. But I like P F from Umma Gumma on. Every album has been a favorite at 1 time or another. But I listen to brand new music also. Plenty of good stuff being made every day. Don't close your mind to it and you can find it. Especially with the ways we can listen to music these days. Pandora and other different ways to hear new stuff. A guy put a link to his music right in this comment section. Don't be an ostrich, be an innovator. Find your own new favorite. Music is subjective, just cause there's a some crap doesn't mean it's all crap. There's crap in the 70's also but you found "the good stuff".

I had albums when I was a young kid in the late 70’s, and always hated them. They would get scratched up and were too big to store. Usually just ended stacked up in a pile.
I was so happy when cassettes took over records.
It was so revolutionary to bring your music to school and play it on your jam box, and later your car.
      Then cd’s were even better......
Now my iPhone holds a billion songs with access to trillions....
So now we are back to records? I didn’t see that coming!

@@edwardmonsariste4050 Yup, I still have my Rega2 all set up (with a micro-scale and stylus protractor) with a pre-amp and on a decent stand and most of my old vinyl but TBH it never gets used as I'm so much happier listening to FLACs ripped from the CD variants. Not all vinyl was good, it had it's problems: did one try to get the superior import or half-speed master?; did it have an off-centre hole?; was there a flaw in the pressing?; was it a Virgin label with horrible quality vinyl that got noisier and was damn near unlistenable in about a month or two? (most early 80 pressed Genesis albums - no bad thing some may say); was it just badly mastered? (something not a CD-only problem as some might have you think) and then the dust that'd build up even if you'd had a good go at it with a Hunt EDA and kept the lid shut. I for one am glad to see/hear the digital repalcements, though I do hold on to them for sentimental reasons. I will say though that it has re-invigorated the market which is definitely a good thing

paul treneary. Besides the cool massive printed painting that you get with an album cover, I was just never happy with records. Although crackles are a signature sound of records, glorifying that sound isn’t my thing.
I do agree that there does seem to be something good about the sound of a record, as long as it is in great condition. Maybe there is something that our ears will always be able to detect with pure analog over digital. Like it would take over 1,000,000 kbps digital to equal the natural warmth of a record.
Or maybe it’s just a nostalgic predisposition that is playing psychological tricks on ours ears.

@@edwardmonsariste4050 I think it's the latter ;-) I remember all the fun I had struggling to get more detail out of my vinyl with different cartridges and now I have it all (and if I want warmth then I 'roll off' the top end). Still I think there's a lot of BS in the digital world too - so many people vying to take our money from us...

Walking half drunk in a small rural town, I hear this intriguing music coming from a known hermit/hippie and whispered potuser
it was after midnight, cold out - and was transfixed upon stumbling on what I later learned "the machine".
with liquid courage; I stumbled to his door (as a 16 year old kid) and pounded on his door - miraculously he heard me and let me in.
the guy had a shack, and a stereo - worth more than most peoples vehicles at the time.
    Nakamichi or something.
regardless - those old maxell tape pictures - well that's what this album felt like - he had good stuff!!
I'll never forget my first experience to Pink Floyd on a cold night - and this was it.

Hugo, I swear we knew the same guy under the same moon...my snowy walk home alone at 15 or 16 after leaving a so called friends house dragging my sled after getting blamed for sneaking into his parents liquor cabinet.....I found so much more at the house I was supposed to stay away from (cause he had long hair and "hippie glasses") I will always remember the cracked window, mysterious music called Pink Floyd and the glow of the Pioneer rack with my first fattie going down in 1976....No regrets. no not one.

This album really does something special for many of the other 94%.
The modern day equivalent of Beethoven's 7th Symphony, with added thinking opportunities, thought provoking emotional words and back-story: All at a pace that allows the brain to softly charge-up on endorphins for 45 mins.
