Subscribed 💚 This is the first song from them I've ever heard. My God. Chills so bad it actually hurt. I've never struggled with addiction, but I have and still am struggling with childhood trauma. So I hear this song from that perspective. Addiction and trauma have similarities. They both suck to say the least, and you live in the shadows until that one moment you realise you're not as ok as you thought you were and you're ready to reach out for help. Denial plays a big part in both. Both can destroy lives. Most importantly, you have to learn how to live with whatever got you to that place. Both leave scars that never really go away. You can heal, but the scars remain. Thank you for sharing your story. Stay healthy, be safe. All the best to you❤
Leila, I first want to congratulate you for being upfront and honest! I too struggle with childhood trauma. I know that played a huge role in my addiction. I’ll have to tell you, and the world, all about it when I do my next FIR video. Your words are nothing but the absolute truth. Mental scars never go away. We have to stop giving them the power. It’s easier said than done though, as you already know. I got your back though!!! I love how his music not only relates to addicts, but to trauma victims as well!!! No, wait!!! @@JustJenReacts I had a feeling you probably had experienced some kind of trauma.The moment you fell silent during the song is when you actually said the most. I don't believe people acquire addiction by choice, they are self medicating, and doing so for a reason. I was stuck in the mental health system for a long time. None of the medication they gave me worked, because they weren't treating the actual cause(trauma), just the symptoms. Long story. Thank you so much for your kind words and

Side note...I actually sent the song w/lyrics to my therapist. I asked him to please listen to it because it perfectly describes how I feel. The next time I saw him, he looked at me and said "Wow". That's how much I relate to the lyrics.The painful screams at the end...the screams of someone wanting so badly to be understood, broke my heart in a good way.
Leila, I’ve experienced trauma up until last month!!! My life has been one upset after another. I do know this much, no trauma whatsoever will get me back down that road. No trauma will hold me back. No trauma will make me someone I am not. I may have been through some major shit, but I am still the caring, loving, honest, loyal woman I have always been. Chronic depression here, due to two times of being medically dead (no heartbeat for 2+ minutes). Drowning at age 14, and a zeisure 2 years ago, but that leaves a mark on your soul/personality. Oh well, life goes on i guess.. But however, keep doing what you do. You truly have a friend here in the land of the north (Sweden)! All the love to you beautiful one!

I've never dealt with any of that nor anyone I know and had a great childhood but hearing those lyrics, his voice, the visuals and most of all the point at which you went silent Jen and I could read the reaction in your face. I know I'm 2 years late to the show but forgive me, I never even knew this band existed until a week ago.
The part at the end where he burns his past to the ground gets me every time. This song puts me back there too, Jen. Congrats on your sobriety. 2 n half yrs clean myself... and I felt every bit of this.

This is so beautiful I love you did this because he went from this teenagers view on life and the way things were going and how s*** his whole life was because if you learn about him his life was s*** he made something out of nothing and to see this successful grown adults who still believes in his teenage views but with a deeper meaning and a refined way of displaying it I understood the pain back then but his remake or his remaster piece is that he forces you to feel it this time he takes a teenager's view very accurate view and amplifies it love it still crying

I had a younger brother who died of drug addiction, he told me on his death bed as I was crying " your stronger than me don't worry". I felt so guilty that I was able to stop and he couldn't. I saw him as the strongest person I knew and he couldn't kick it. I was lost for 2 years thinking it should of been me not him, I was his big brother, I was supposed to take care of him. I live with guilt everyday.
That’s survivors guilt. There is nothing more that you could’ve done buddy. I’m so sorry for your loss 😢 your story breaks my heart. By telling it, you may help someone!!!! His legacy must live on through you now!!!! Thank you for your honesty. Hugs 🤗 sent

Thank you Jen for watching this video. I truly enjoyed your reaction. I myself have given up pills since 5/1/2018 after living on them because of 6 back surgeries and 1 neck surgery. 28 pills a day and whatever else available is in my past. I struggle each day but I deal with it.

Oh David, it’s sooooooooooo much better than the 80’s rag weed!!! I don’t know where you’re from, but here in Ohio, we can get medical marijuana cards, especially for chronic pain!!! I got mine for chronic pain and PTSD. Childhood trauma is no joke 😞 but the indica strain’s are what works for my pain and anxiety!!! Melts it right away!!!! I don’t smoke a lot either! Just a few puffs here and there! Works wonders! They (my old doctors) had me on all kinds of pain meds (high-powered opiates), and A LOT of benzodiazepines (Klonopin), for my my anxiety, and so I got off all of that crap, since my doctors were so willing to prescribe, one of them is on the run, in Seria, and the other killed himself, before the feds came... they were nothing but drug dealers. They even knew I had an addiction problem!!! So karma got them both! I got off all of that crap too, and years later I switched to medical marijuana, and it’s been, nothing short of a miracle!!! Check into it if you can!!!! A Chronic pain dx can get you that card if your state issues medical cards!!!

The girl in the clip, in blue, looks like my daughter (except she wears better make-up). Like Ronnie, my girl changed my life. .... Ronnie tells it as it was... Dang it! Mine is alcohol. Guess I grew up as a 'good girl' not wanting to upset the parents - who of course I know now were my problem. My dad was an alcoholic and from the bits and pieces I found out - no wonder. My mother was a cruel narcssist - so now I am an alcoholic. It can be a downward spiral if you don't check yourself every day - make a little step towards doing you a little better. Accept you might have stuffed up one day and try the next. It is painful when your drug of choice seems to be your only friend.
Believe me. That alcohol isn’t your friend.

Yeah I think it's a mix of both. He wrote it while he was still locked up so it's definitely about drugs too since that's when he got clean. I think it's just about everything that can hold you back and poison you
