The strange case of Elizabeth Sullivan [True Crime Documentary]

  • When Elizabeth Sullivan was reported missing in the Autumn of 2014, the San Diego police suspected foul play.
Over the following days and weeks suspicions only compiled but the evidence of what, if anything, had befallen the young mother was sparse.
Friends insisted that something horrible must have happened but certain family members, were not so sure.
Elizabeth Sullivan was a complicated and capable woman. It was possible that her disappearance had been by design. Maybe Elizabeth didn’t want to be found…

Yes.I experienced, domestic violence. My husband, was a violent individual. When I left him, he would stalk me. Show up at my place of employment. I was a security officer at a really large casino and they knew about my situation so he was not allowed to enter the casino.. about 2 years later we were divorced.

People need to stop assuming that someone is a good person just because they served in the military. I’m prior service. And a few things… first thing you’ll find out once you’re in is that many people there were given the choice: military or prison. Second thing, if you look at a list of domestic v**lance by profession, military service members are in the top three, along with police officers and professional athletes.

When I worked in the ER, we would hate to see a certain naval ship come back from sea because the domestic violence incidents would significantly increase. Their wives would soon start showing up battered and bruised in our hospitals. But on the news, they all looked very happy and like heroes when they returned. It was always that particular ship. Very disturbing.

We're talking about leniency here. Not clemency! I do understand the uproar over the punishment (the convicted having to stay in jail for only 16 years or maybe less depending on his good conduct inside). And someone's great service to the country can really help to deaden or soften the punishment a culprit can get for his or her crime. Unless the crime is beyond the pale.
I believe Matthew earned a less harsher because not only he did great service to the nation but Elizabeth was no saint either. Both were cheaters.
Don't get me wrong. I always believe that a wrong can never be corrected by another wrong. Just like what Matt did to Elizabeth.

As someone who is also in the Navy, the fact that his defense tried to use his honorable discharge and awards as reason to lessen his sentence is laughable. An honorable discharge and the awards listed are NOT difficult to get. Pretty much anyone who separates or retires from the Navy is getting an honorable discharge. The Global War on Terrorism is given to anyone who spends at least 60 days in a participating unit (so any ship), the Good Conduct Medal is given to anyone that goes three years without getting in any major trouble, and the Humanitarian Service medal is given to anyone who’s unit participated in a humanitarian act (so it wasn’t him going out of his way to do some humanitarian act). His defense essentially said he should get a lesser sentence because he has participation trophies.

I was 19, married to a Navy man. My husband was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia ( the same base he was before transferring to California) My husband left for a 7 month deployment and I was 7 months pregnant with our 1st child. My hometown is in NC so I packed up and stayed with my dad. It was the hardest time of my life. Giving birth alone while he was in the Mediterranean. I was blessed to be with family. Elizabeth was young with 2 very young children, living on opposite coasts as her family and friends were left behind. I admire her for her strength in being alone , raising 2 children and in a new state. Many wives ( or husbands) go stay with family while our sailors are away for 7 months or longer. No matter what Elizabeth was doing she didn't deserve to be murdered.
Shows her sailor was a narcissistic and violent man. He couldn't handle the fact she was leaving him. He can't control her anymore. Yet, she was missing only a few weeks and he'd bring his new girlfriend to live in her house as well. He knew she wasn't coming home.. Thankfully he is where he should be.. behind bars.
    Rest in Peace Elizabeth 🌷 🌷 🌷

Motherin my experience, frequently mothers are easily manipulated, especially if the situation is unclear to them. If he claimed that he accidentally, or in a moment of rage stabbed her and killed her. i could definitely see her agree with hiding the crime. Because she couldn't see herself putting her own son into prison for an accident. Because nobody can choose to believe that their baby is a cold blooded killer.
