He is! But, also, NiziU is also going to be active primarily in Japan. There, Girl Crush concepts don't really succeed. The girls are definitely already more polished than established groups; but that may or may not fly. Japanese fans are more interested in a personal relationship with their idols, rather than them being perfect performers. IZ*ONE did not succeed in Japan past their first song, because they're going for an 'elegant' concept and it just doesn't fit Japan's image (or theirs IMO.)

@ZZ - I mean, I think you're really misunderstanding and misrepresenting Japanese culture. I'm not even full-japanese and I understand that there's much greater nuance to it. Yes, there are sexual harassment cases. However, Korea has its own, arguably worse, form of sexualization of underage girls and rigorous training practices. There are pros and cons to both sides. If NiziU doesn't have hi-touch events, they won't succeed in Japan. Fanservice is a major part of being an idol in Japan and frankly, these girls went into an idol training program knowing that. Japanese idols are there primarily to make their fans happy and feel emotionally connected. Korean idols have a different goal , yet even Korean artists have these events? The west has reality TV shows with similar degrees of sexual harassment, but those aren't seen as outrageous. Finally, NiziU also has not received an extraordinary amount of attention in Japan yet.

@ZZ - I wasn't RAISED in Japan and i'm still able to understand the differences in culture. I also understand that there are significant influencing factors in the difference between kpop and jpop beyond just 'style and culture.'
Historically, only 16% of Korea's exports go to North America, compared to 23% of Japan's. Furthermore, Japan shipped almost 14% of its exports to Europe while Korea only shipped 12%. South Korea has produced only $543 billion dollars of exports, while Japan has a staggering 708 billion. Beginning at the end of WWII, Japan had an established trading relationship with America. They did not need to change much of their manufacturing or entertainment culture to cater to that audience, because they had already "captured" it, so to speak. The Japanese entertainment industry most certainly does not feel "left out."
Japan was previously an isolationist country and that permeates through society today. Unlike Korea, Japan has resisted or simply not adopted several Western ideological influences in various ways - including media and entertainment culture. That's why things like sarcasm aren't well established forms of humor in Japan. Contrasting this is Korea's rapid adaption to Western influence after the Korean recession of the late 80s and early 90s.
Kpop began as a form of social dissonance that was frowned upon by the Korean government. However, that was flipped on its head after the popularity of the hallyu wave and a decrease in Korean exporting success. To the point where a portion of the kpop industry is subsidized by the government. Not to mention the current efforts on the part of Kpop companies to produce "global girl groups." This simply isn't SEEN in Japan because it isn't NECESSARY.
All of that is to say that Japan doesn't just have its own culture, it actively creates a culture that is meant for its own consumption. Korea, on the other hand, has had to adopt a western style culture in order to survive on the world economic stage. That means that values and entertainment have evolved very differently in the two countries and social expectations are also different. The way you speak about "sexual harassment in broadcasting" makes it clear that you haven't really consumed a lot of Japanese media. Those sorts of lewd sketches are quite rare and not at all the standard for Japanese audiences who are (still) very conservative.
NiziU will almost certainly have to walk a line between those two things. There have been PLENTY of very pretty, very talented singers and dancers in Japan. However, it isn't possible to rise to the ranks of more well-known groups without adapting to Japanese consumer's expectations. What you call "messy practices" are part of an established entertainment culture. JYP is a smart person, who has had previous success in Japan. He knows how to market to Japan and has taken different approaches (such as with TWICE) in Japan vs Korea.
All of this is to say that you're saying they're going to "destroy messy practices." They aren't, and the practices aren't as "messy" as you imply.

MiSaMo were actually trainees for a J-Pop group like this but due to trainees, who were supposed to debut in a K-Pop group (6MIX so with NaJeongJi) leaving the company, they were lacking girls to debut. So JYP decided to create SIXTEEN and now we have TWICE. It's just more impactful now due to TWICE's popularity in Japan.

Before debuting as Twice, Sana was supposed to debut in a 6 members group 6mix with Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Minyoung (SIXTEEN) replacing Cecillia who left the group. However, the plan was cancelled due to Lena's departure. They are supposed to debut as KPOP group not Jpop. JYP did not plan to debut them as Jpop though. While Momo and Mina are still trainees from Japan.
