the weight in Asia is so weird to me I don't know if it is me being born with a western mind but to weight like 67 is freaking normal weight she would not be called fat in Sweden I tell ya!

Thing is, Asians have smaller builds compared to Europeans. Even when checking BMI, we can't use the standard ones used by people in Europe because we are smaller compared to Europeans so our normal weight is less. It depends on height. People in Asia mostly aren't very tall sp our normal weight is usually 50 - 55kg. 67 is too much for someone whose height is less than 165cm.

I don't think it's Asia it's just korea haha... i'm from singapore and we are usually happy as long as our weight is in the healthy range for bmi
That's not a normal weight if you're only 1m60, even here in Europe. It has nothing to do with Asia.
A lot of asian people would think 60kg for a woman is too much, I myself weigh so but I'm like 168cm, my own father often tells me I'm fat and when I eat sometimes he criticizes me 'why are you eating that much, even my rice portion is less than yours' and I just rolls my eyes cuz eventhough he eat less rice, he could finish an entire fish by himself.... plus he's a little shorter than me. I believe that he weighs around 80kg, idk why he keep telling me I'm fat gdi...

It makes me sad to know that going to a real counselor is so looked down upon in Korea, that they had to make a show for it. Don't get me wrong, I love Hello Counselor because it's one step closer to showing Koreans that asking for help with problems isn't a bad thing, but I wish they had more real counselors and that when people go to them, it wouldn't mark them as mentally ill ...

Yeah I agree, especially sense I’m in the black community as well, it’s looked down upon to go to therapy or even have mental illness’. Of course not everyone , but as a whole.
I know Onew was hurt during this episode and this is probably mean but Minho's laugh was adorable during the part where Onew fell.
I just watch it again at 20 December 2017, 2 days after Kim Jonghyun passed away.

If you look at the two pictures of Jonghyun at 24:45, I think he looks a lot healthier in the first one. He didn't need to lose weight at all since he already looked gorgeous and fit (I also prefer his hair colour like that). I hope that he takes good care of himself.
Yeah I agree with you. Even though I do like the platinum hair, I think it washes him out. And he was in shape before, but I think Koreans have a different idea of what skinny is.
Agreed. Even though Koreans define health and thinness differently than we do, Jonghyun never needed to lose weight, not even in Korean terms. He has gained some weight this year. His cheeks don't look as sunken in, so I think he's doing good now.

princessnicki63 He constantly loses weight for SHINee's album releases and then gains a bit afterwards. But he seems skinnier every time they release a new album. Now, for his solo debut, he's skinnier than he ever been. I really hope he doesn't have a body dysmorphic disorder.

Which is the worst concern?
To me, it's the 2nd one. Wtf women don't get pregnant themselves, plus every women is bound to get weight if they're expecting a baby, it's normal, and it proves you're healthy. The lady is losing 20kg in a few months, that's a marvelous progress, yet no compliments/encouragements but instead continuous nagging. I got really mad when she mentioned that seasick trip. Making someone throw up is going to get them nowhere. It's ridiculous to think that will help lose weight. I understand if you want your wife to be pretty, but your method is horribly wrong.

But everyone knows that if you're trying to lose weight, you can't eat the way she ate on the weekends, because that's just putting back all the fat you lost over 6 days back into your body in 4 meals. So it's definitely not that big of a concern. I feel like if she didn't eat all unhealthy meals in one day and just for 1 meal, she would actually lose weight.

I'm watching this now knowing that it was at this time Onew hurt his neck but no one revealed anything. He wore neck braces in private and still did the full Everybody choreo which upsets me. :(
You can tell his neck is stiff here and he is trying to move it as little as possible. Rather than turning his neck to look to the MC's or to the audience section, he turns his whole body while keeping his neck stiff.

Yes, even though the female host laughs she must hurt alot :( In my country people could NEVER do that. They are TOO weight obsessed in Korea. I started watching a korean drama show where the female lead try to loose weight. Finally she reached her goal.... 16 BMI. Normal is 19. Its ridiculous!

After watching quite a few episodes of Hello Counselor, it seems that people who might have mental problems or behavioral disorders are regarded as simply being mean, annoying, or weird in Korea and that these behaviors can be changed with just mere effort. Of course this is not to say that every Korean thinks like this and that every behavior that might seem abnormal immediately means a mental problem but it appears that they think that behaviors such as cleaning themselves and their environment too much, excessive attachment to useless things,and even talking to stuffed animals and thinking of them as real friends are things that regarded as bad personality traits that can be changed by just wanting to.I don't know, maybe im just thinking too deeply but in America people who behave in similar ways are usually told to seek help or counseling because the problem can't be solved with just the idea of wanting to be different.
totally agree with you!! that's why there is this term 'cha shin kuan li' "self management",if i fail to stick to a social norm i would be considered giving up myself, that i just don't give enough effort to change. they barely consider one might be suffering from mental disorders.i remember watching another channel simonandmartina and the couple taught in korean schools,there are kids having ADHD but they are just seen as 'bad kids'
gigileungty96 Yeah I've seen that video too and seeing these episodes of hello counselor totally reminded me of that "self management" notion that koreans have. It just seems really sad to me because koreans work very very hard to the point of some of them committing suicide when really everything might have been different if they were allowed by their society to look for help.
very true... the problem is that mental health awareness and advocacy is extremely low in Korea. lacking "self management" is okay because it's "fixable," but no one wants to admit that there might actually be psychological issues because there's a huge stigma surrounding it. it's really too bad, because those individuals really should be getting help for their conditions instead of writing it off as a type of "bad personality."
Totally true! That's why I don't what a lot of this shows :S I end up disturbed some times. For example,:a father cursing to her daughter yelling her he'll KILL her... Considered as just not expressing himself right? Bull.crap.
Some of the people shown here DO have mental disorders or psychological issues, but treating them as just an entertainment for a show? :S Wow, it's a bit concerning.
I'm with you on that too, but we have to consider that Korean people have very different way of thinking, acting and considering things. What we may think is a huge problem and that needs counseling, they see something that can be changed through attitude and effort, and at certain point it is true, you can have all the counseling you want for a certain problem, but the most important thing is that you want it and that you put effort in changing it. I like this show, I believe that the fact that they can talk about it really helps them a lot, and if they are willing to go then they are a step closer to solving it.
Am I the only one who thinks that Key would be PERFECT for this show? He definitely wouldn't hold back his opinion...which is probably why SM didn't let him on!

The really strict dad was awful. I don't care if they gave birth to you; parents shouldn't be allowed to treat their kids however they want, without considering of the kid's feelings. Also, both his kids were adults so wtf.
+TheAshMaster1000 they were soooo awkward... and when she said she was scared of her dad I thought that he's probably violent. Even the mom said she wouldn't have married him. She can't go out! More than a wife she must feel like a servant. I mean he even convinced her to have another kid...
Yeah some things were probably a bit much, but despite how old someone is, if they are still living in their parent's house, then you should have to follow their rules. If he gives a curfew you will just have to deal with it, or get your own place. They are your parents and being so gives them certain privileges. But that's just how I see it.
